  1. I just put in a quick 50, and I'm probably going to do sets of 50 every hour or so today. Does voting end at midnight eastern?
  2. Could a Sox pitcher start the game for the 3rd time in 4 years?? I don't see why not.
  3. Are the results based solely on the fans vote? If so we're probably screwed going up against the Steelers. How can a team that goes wire-to-wire 162 games in first place and 11-1 in the postseason not the best team in a season? GMAB the Steelers don't deserve it over us. They were a wild card 6 seed. Yes, they won the Super Bowl, but great teams usually have great seasons and postseasons, ie White Sox.
  4. Ian Snell has the same last name as me. If his pitching career goes anything like mine, he'll feature straight fastballs and hanging breaking balls and proceed to get smacked around by good hitters.
  5. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) What ever happened to Tatis, I know he was on the expos and Cards and just disappeared, minor leagues or retired Im assuming. I always liked him because he looked like a monkey. I think he was a 'roider. He fell fast after 34 homers in 1999, and ended up with only 90 for his career. How can he have just one random good year? It appears he couldn't stay healthy, but still..
  6. Last night's grand slam was something we as kid's would always dream of and act out. Gooch by far.
  7. Oz said in the post game he had been having troubles with his legs lately and it was purely precautionary. I'd imagine he'll be good to go Tuesday.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) cmon the only thing ESPN can do now is knock our coach....it was like an anti ozzie weenie roast tonight. I'm glad I was there and didn't have to sit through all that ESPN crap. People on The Score's post-game show were making it sound bad.
  9. I'm so glad baseball tonight just showed the highlights and didn't make a big deal out of what we did. But Mussina's start tonight for the Yankees was sooo much more important. I enjoyed hearing what has been wrong with his mechanics lately. f*** ESPN.
  10. I just got back from the game. I stayed for every pitch and made my mom and sister stay and stop b****ing. I had UD tickets behind home plate, but luckily one of my friends was down low and I went and sat with him. I was behind the Sox dugout and on my feet from the bottom of the 7th until the last out of the 13th. Unreal game, especially given the situation. Great sweep of the Cards and two improbable grand slams already this seris, and as soon as we got to the bullpen I said to my friend that we were going to comeback. Konerko hits a home run and we say "7 more". I guess Tad heard us and did the rest. I was literally running up and down the stairs in section 140 after the grand slam, because as soon as Cintron got up we said just get on and then were yelling for Pods to walk so Gooch could do it. Then bam! Great great game, all of you that left early sure did get your punishment.
  11. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) And that's putting it mildly. I have no denial from leaving that Bears-Browns game early, I just drown myself in the sorrows constantly and was actually telling my sisters friend that story today on the way to the game and how we never leave games early no matter what now...I think she gets the point after staying tonight.
  12. First time in White Sox history hitting a grand slam in all 3 games of a series. First MLB team since the '93 Tigers to do it.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) Did they do the wave at all today? People started standing a lot, but it wasn't for the wave. I was very impressed with the crowd early on tonight. I got lots of energy from it. I was highly disappointed with how many people left after the 7th and 8th innings. I was telling people as they went to the exits that they would be regretting it.
  14. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) That was almost as bad as when I left the Bears-Browns game early back in 2001 I did that too and had second row seats in the endzone where all 3 tds happened including the hail mary and mike brown return. BUT I LEARNED MY LESSON! The only gave I've left early since then was a spring training game this year when all the regulars were out...it turns out Pablo hit a walkoff home run. I was there tonight and refused to leave when my sister and mom were b****ing in the 7th. Best game I've ever been to in person. After Iguchi's home run I was running up and down the stairs and hugging my friend who I met up with there. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Ahh...so I missed a game filled with rain, fan interference, and a loss in the 13th Inning? I can live with that. Two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the White Sox hit a grand slam to tie it. 8 runs in the final 3 innings, 7 in the last two all off the bat of one guy. You my friend are in denial.
  15. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) Supposedly it "hit" something I think a window (it's not glass not sure what the material was) over by the deep right field stands. God I wish I knew the name of it but it's late and I'm tweekin right now. The stadium club? If so, that's amazing. When I sat up there, it was a long, long ways away.
  16. The first 100 pages of Sox and the City have been very good. I would recommend the book to all of you, we can all relate to Roeper's story.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:13 AM) Did anyone at the game see where this ball landed exactly. They never showed it land on TV, so it was impossible to really gage just how far that thing traveled. You could judge how far a foulball went if you saw it land on tv? That's impressive.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) Then don't reply to any of them, it's not hard. If it's not hard, then why do you do it? I really don't care what you think of the wave, it's going to happen when 35,000 plus people are together in a sporting venue. It was never a "White Sox" thing because there were never enough people in the park to do it. Would you rather have a tradition of waveless 15,000 fan crowds or wavedoing 35,000 fan crowds??
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) That makes absolutely NO sense. I'm talking about standing at random times during a game, not standing in celebration of something happening on the field. Not even close to the same situation. It makes perfect sense in response to your post that I was RESPONDING to. I wasn't factoring in your previous posts because I haven't bothered to read them yet. They aren't worth my time reading.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Isn't it incredibly rude to stand up in front of someone and yell at the top of your lungs while they're trying to watch a game that they paid money to see? So how do the fans of other teams feel when we stand up and cheer for a home run? Are you saying it's wrong to cheer for Jim Thome when he hits a walk-off grandslam just because there's a fan of the other team sitting behind you?
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Read the quote I also posted, it contains insight into why I hate all things wave. If it's a close game in the late innings why do you need to stand every 60 seconds? What's the purpose? So that the people behind you can't see the action on the field? So that you are distracting every damn person in the staduim who actually cares about the outcome of the game? If the game isn't entertaining enough for you, find a better way to spend your money. The wave is part of the entertainment of the game for some people. I just think people here are overly obsessed with hating on the wave. I'm not for it or against it. Pratt, you hit the nail on the head with the Ozzie comparison.
  22. My Uncle lives in Carlton Fisk's neighborhood. The bushes cover his house
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Because anyone who does it is not a fan. How's that? If you do the wave in a close game or hell, ever, you should be banned from the god damn ballpark. OK. Thanks you for the insightful response.
  24. It seems snobish to hate the wave to me. What's so bad about it and why are you guys better than it?
