  1. Ok so we now know that Duque and Contreras can produce. That;s a really good sign and should go a little ways toward calming our concerns about em.
  2. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) I did not get a chance to follow the game, but afer reading box score and this thread, it seems like a great win Radke + Santana back to back scares me so you better bring it Garland tomorrow Dont forget. We have Da Burly Mon going on Sunday.
  3. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) I don't think he did it. Bulls***. Anyone who pays out millions of dollars in hush money to kids families over abuse charges is guilty as hell.
  4. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) There is no immediate shortage of crude. But there is a growing demand from developing nations that will increase demand geometrically over the next two decades. The 50 year horizon is still not unrealistic as far as a time when most of the world's energy needs will have to be met through non-fossil fuel means, and a lot of people think that projection is optimistic. I agree with you that we're going to have a problem down the road but the current problem with high oil prices is speculation driven and that will correct itself over time.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) If only we could have seen this coming... this time when an unsustainable resource that takes 10s of millions of years to form naturally would begin to cost so much that we would have no choice but to seriously start to make strides away from the fossil fuel economy/mentality that we have embraced fro nearly 200 years... If only the scientists who know about these kinds of things woudl have given us some kind of a warning... No, wait, er... ummm.... Nevermind. What you dont understand is that there is no shortage of crude oil. The problem is twofold. - First you have a shortage of refining capacity thanks to laws on the books preventing the construction of new capacity. - Second is that the price of oil and gasoline is set by traders on mercantile exchanges and they will bid up the price anytime there's a small supply disruption, terror attack, an oil executive sneezes, whatever. Adding to that you have an enormus amount of interest from hedge funds who are bidding the price of oil higher and higher with a momentum play. It all feeds off itself and it's creating a bubble which , according to a lot of traders on the street, is about to burst.
  6. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Wow, that much gas alone is more than my payments AND insurance....Wow..... I get 28 MPG city and 32 MPG on the highway with my Stratus. Pretty decent and I can fill up for about 30 bucks or so even eith prices as high as they are. Where I am in AZ its like 2.49 a gallon for Shell regular unleaded and 2.69 for premium. How bad is it up in Chi Town? I buy my gas on base and only pay like 2.15 a gallon. No taxes.
  7. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) I am doubly glad my new car gets 30/38 mpg.... I honestly cannot imagine driving a big truck or SUV with prices like this..... A little math. 25 gallon tank 2.50 or so a gallon. $62.5 dollars for a tank of gas 15 MPG ( I'm being generous on the mileage ) You fill up your tank 3 times a month we're looking at 186 dollars a month just to fuel the monster........to say nothing of insurance and payments.
  8. Watching CNBC this morning there are a bunch of traders on the street saying that the bottom is about to fall out on oil prices. Go figure.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) - Just as easily as we could have swept this series, we could have easily been swept by the Indians. - Ozzie can't have the same patience this year with Shingo as he did w/Koch last year. Shingo was great last year, but it's not like he's a young man. All the AL has seen him and his trick pitches. - Against lhp, I think Rowand should be batting 3rd. He's a stud vs lefties, and Everett typically struggles against lhp. - What's wrong with Uribe in the field? He was incredibly lazy today, and seemed to be in another world. - I love the addition of A.J. Pierz. He's the best catcher the Sox have had in a long, long time. - Anyone else think that Dye kinda looks like what Michael Jordan would have in the Sox uniform with the number 23 and his physical characteristics? Anyways, time to go to the Metrodome. I'd be ok with a 1-2 series there, as the pitching matchups aren't in our favor. We had no business winning on Wednesday and they had no business winning today. It all evens out I suppose. We still got the series win and should still be feeling pretty good going into the Minny series.
  10. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I'm just curious if there's a consensus on the Sox relievers. Let's say it's the 7th inning and we have a three-run lead. Suppose the batters due up go righty, lefty, righty. If everyone's fresh, who is the best guy to bring in? Who is the worst? I rank them: Vizcaino Marte Politte Cotts Hermanson (save for the 8th) Shingo (save for the 9th) Why do we only get threads like this when we get shellacked like this?
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Jose mowing 'em down. Why is the pen going? Saving his old arm?? Let him go 7 then get the pen a little work in mop up.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Coco kills us. Wild pitches caught up to him this inning. Get em out with 1 run only and its all good.
  13. 5-1 good guys now. No more shutout. Cereal boy strikes again.
  14. This guy needs to burn. The homies in county are going to love having "the king of pop" as their b****.
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) From what I read, Toothpick Man The Pitcher Killer wants to have a reliable lefty in the bullpen to mop up after his starter gets destroyed in the first 3 innings.... They're f***ed either way. With those 2 you're gonna get the starter destroyed then the reliever will say to himself "Hey! I can give up more runs than that!" and the lead balloons for the opposing team.
  16. 2 on nobody out. Lets get a few more across this inning!!
  17. Another 1-2-3 inning for Contreras. He's looking sharp today.
  18. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Wow, can someone tell this guy it's only two games into the season? Good lord... Mariotti's column... I'm not even going to dignify this asshole by reading this hack job. We're on the verge of a sweep and this cock biter is running his mouth. When his flubbies can take their hands away from their throats and play some baseball then he can come talk to me. :fyou Moronatti!
  19. QUOTE(valponick @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) "well I'll tell ya this guy....he's the original deuce of clubs...." More like the queen of clubs
  20. What's up all. Just got in for lunch and things look good so far. GO SOX!!
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) At least today anyways he was missing spots and falling behind hitters on a consistent basis. Its hard to get guys out no matter how good your stuff is when that is the case. And it wasn't like the Red Sox were hitting the ball real hard against him. Plus, if A-Rod makes that play the Yankees are at worst tied going into the bottom of the 9th and that was a potential double play ball that would have ended the game. Baseball Tonight picked up on that missing of spots with both him and Wickman. They made some pretty good points........and I got to see Konerko smoke that one off Wickman again.
  22. QUOTE(bulokis @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Mariano Rivera blew another save today against the bosox with some help from A-rod's error. Final score 7-3. Watching Payrod make that error had me laughing like crazy. He looked like he was juggling out there. LOL!
  23. That's what I don't understand about the people who said this team is devoid of power hitters. We have Everett, Kong and Dye healthy and they can hit a homerun anytime, plus we have AROW & Uribe who can tee one up quite a few times themselves.
  24. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) IP PC H ER BB K 0.0 12 3 4 1 0 Blue Jays lose. And I didn't know Chris Singleton is DHing for Tampa Bay. LOL!! Ouch!! Glad the moron is gone.
