I would agree wtih you ss2k, however how does being in shape make someone an athlete. There are plenty of people that are in shape that have not one ounce of athletic ability in their body.

I am in no way taking it personally or that others disagree with me. There are a whole bunch of people that do agree with me as well. I could care less who thinks it is a sport. If you don't want me to share my opinions about the subject then maybe you should cease sharing yours.

Just because you are in shape does not mean you are an athlete or any more of an athlete than an out of shape person. Just because you are a 300 lbs slob does not mean you are any less of an athlete than a person that is in shape. I don't understand what being in shape and being an athlete has to do with anything. Will an athlete that works out and get into shape be better at their particular sport? Yes! However, being in or out of shape does not make one more or less of an athlete.

Wouldn't FLA be considered southern? Just wondering.

Please I highly doubt there are 90 million NASCAR fans. That is ridiculous.

How are we against teams that we do not play on the west coast with winning records? We suck on the west coast and always have. What if you take away the road games against west coast teams, then what kind of record do we have? Like maybe 14-9? Do we still have to play the Angels in Anaheim? I don't remember playing them away.

Am I saying that NASCAR fans are not as dedicated as baseball fans? Am I saying that NASCAR is not a sport because of fan dedication or attendance? What are you talking about? I don't think you know how we got on the subject of attendance or what I am even talking about when it comes to attendance between the sports. You are assuming things that I am talking about and that is not good.

Now how did that make sense? By travel I don't mean going to Sox Park. I mean going to Detroit, Cleveland, Minnesota, New York, Oakland. Tons of people do it.

I now a bunch that travel to see the White Sox play. College football fans travel a lot to see their teams play. I definately don't think there are more people that enjoy or are a fan of NASCAR than baseball or football. l also think pro wrestling outdraws all of them. Is pro wrestling a sport? I think not. I think they get so much s*** for it because of the stereotypes surrounding it. All of the people that I know that like it do fit that stereotype. That and they keep on wanting to push it and claim it as a sport when it really shouldn't be classified as one. Classify it as anything else they want and if they enjoy it then they shouldn't care what it is classified as, so I don't know why many of them feel the need to push it as a sport.

It didn't work for me at all on ESPN Insider. Took me 3 attempts just to login to Chicagosports.com. Not a big fan.

I'm just letting you know why he believes the way he does. I am not debating it with you. I actually see where dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible. People like Everett do not see it the same way. Why must you look to argue someone's beliefs or poke fun at someone's beliefs? As long he is not hurting anyone or forcing his beliefs upon other people then I really don't see the harm in it. Do you? By the way the bible does mention sea creatures that can be an octupus, it does mention buffalos and it does mention birds. Do do birds specifically? I don't believe that it went into specifying any type of a species, but I could be wrong. Others may know the answer to that one.

You know I think this has been blown way out of proportion. Certain religious groups do not believe dinosaurs existed becuase they were not mentioned in the Bible. They will also not believe in life on Mars if anything was ever found there or in aliens in anyway. He is part of one of these religious groups. They believe that all the fossils and everything that has been found are man made. He is certainly not the only one that follows these beliefs and I am sure he is not the only one in baseball that believes that. He is just very honest and open and has no problem with who he is or what he believes. I say good for Carl.

So if we take every baseball game played during the season we don't come up with more people than 28-29 million? I believe we do. Football may or may not pass that just because of the amount of games played are less. Basketball may be close as well however the stadiums are much smaller. This is also not including minor leagues and college attendance. No doubt NASCAR has a lot of people attending, but I highly doubt it is the most attended.

classify them as whatever type of event you want just as long as it is not a sport. I hate how they say that NASCAR is the most attended. It isn't. How many baseball games are played in a week? month? year? Add up the total attendance for that and I am sure it outdraws NASCAR every which way. I am sure football and basketball does as well.

I think a bigger mistake was bringing in Marte to face a couple right handed hitters instead of Politte. I would have brought in Politte to get through the righties then brought in Marte and ended it with Shingo. I know it is always easy to 2nd guess things, but this is just what I would have done last night.

Really? Give me a proven Freddy Garcia for the next three years over hyped up prospects such as Reed/Olivo/Morse every single day of the week and twice on Sundays. We overhype our prospects more than any other team in the majors besides maybe the Yanks and Red Sox.

I would classify both as events. JUst like running, shotputting, javeline throwing, discus. All events. NASCAR and cycling are both events.
