Houston Texans Defense
southsideirish replied to southsideirish's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Thank you. Everything you said is exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the info. By the way how are Babin and Robinson looking. I have heard nothing but great things about these two and just wondering how they are picking up the scheme so far. -
I noticed that the Houston Texans are playing the Chargers the first week of the season. I think the Chargers offense sucks with the exception of LT. I was just wondering how some of you felt the Texans defense would do this season and if they are worth picking up to play against the Chargers in week 1 of my fantasy football league. Thanks for your help.

It was not Crede OR Olivo. It was Crede AND Olivo AND Reed. KW was able to negotiate and not part with 2 regulars. If it were Crede OR Olivo then we should have given them Crede without a doubt.

By the way Alou and the Cubs have a Mutual option for next year. If picked up by both he will be making 11.25 million dollars. They have more to worry about than just Alou. Grudz has aclub option. Clement, Walker, Hollandsworth, Mercker, and Rusch are also FAs

First of all he is said to want to play near LA. Now that can always change, but LA has more than enough moeny for him and they need another bat. I am sure they are going to go after him very hard. 2 prospects? NO! Try 3. Brendan Harris, Francisco Beltran, and Justin Jones. All 3 are supposed to be pretty damn good prospects. If we would have done a deal like this people would have said we gave up way too much. Beltran is a potential closer down the line, Justin Jones is a left handed power pitcher, and Brendan Harris is an up and coming 3B. They gave up a ton for a rent a player. I didn't even know Alou was still under contract for next season. I thought this was his last season there.

Hendry has already come out and said that he is not even negotiating with Garciaparra's people because it is not fair to the others on the team. Face it this was a very expensive rent a player for the Cubs. They gave up a s*** load of prospects for the guy.

WHy don't the sox go after Renteria? He is exactly what we need. He can leadoff or hit second with Rowand leading off or hitting second. He is superb defensively which is what we need with all the ground ball pitchers we have. He has speed and some power. He is exactly what we should be going after in the offseason. He fits our team perfectly.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or if it even belongs in the pale hose chat. Please move it to where it belongs if I have indeed placed this news in the wrong spot. From Fanball.Com Twins: Mauer getting a third opinion. THE NEWS Catcher Joe Mauer will seek a third medical opinion on his surgically-repaired left knee this week. Mauer has been on the disabled list since July 19, his second stint on the DL this season. He initially injured his knee in the second game of the season, returning just before the All-Star break. OUR VIEW The Twins have talked about acquiring a catcher via trade if Mauer is not able to return. Season-ending surgery has been discussed as an option for the rookie, though no decision to that effect has been made. I don't know about you guys, but this is not something I want to see for my catcher of the present and future. A serious knee injury like this to a young catcher is not very good.

finally something we agree on. Damn, the guy is only 24 years old. Hasn't he been compared favorably to Kevin Brown? Brown was given up on way too early and didn't become a consistently good pitcher until he was 29 or 30. Let him learn and get better every year and I think this guy will turn into one hell of a pitcher. There aren't many guys out there that can come up and pitch in the majors at the age of 24 and this guy started at 20. he is a year older than Prior and 3 years younger than Wood and we consider this guy a never will be. Let him grow with us and continue to be our number 4 guy and he will one day be a #1 or 2. Some guys you just have to be patient with. Garland is one of those guys.

If this is true then why was he a minor league invitee to our camp last year when he was battling it out with Gil Heredia for the number 5 spot in the rotation? If the Yankees have been wanting him for that long then why didn't they sign him last year? That seems like a ridiculous statement to me from a guy that has a huge head/ego.
-
Haven't many of the Yankee players said that he has great stuff and know he will be great here? I don't see any harm in trading for a pitcher with that kind of stuff for a pitcher who was almost out of the league last year and seemed to have lost his velocity and confidence this year.

Alex Rodriguez Upper Deck Rookie Card
southsideirish replied to southsideirish's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Thanks Alex. I was able to find it that way. I guess I would have to get these graded to find out the exact worth. -
I just heard on Mike and Mike that Kenny said he saw how Contreras was tipping his pitches and he thinks we can fix hat problem. Wasn't the same thing being said about Freddy Garcia last year?
-
I like this guy a lot. He is nasty and I can't wait to see what he does without the pressure of the big apple. I have heard many people say all he needs is a change of scenery. I hope this works out for both Contreras and the White Sox. Is he related to Nardi by any chance?

Does anyone know how much A Rod's 1994 Upper Deck #24 Electric Rookie card is worth? I was going through my collection of cards and noticed that I have 5 of these. Just wondering how much they are worth if how much, if anything, they are expected to go up in price. Thanks so much for your help.

That is not entirely true. I have a black lab since she was a puppy that was never trained to be mean and was never trained to be a guard dog. Labs are supposedly the sweetest dogs in the world. I have taken her out for walks every day since I have had her so she could get used to other people. She is very protective of her yard, house, and family. She has snapped and tried to bite a few people that have dared step in her house or yard. Some dogs are just bread with this agressiveness and others arent. Some breeds are more susceptible to it as well.

Randy Johnson rumor in Daily Southtown
southsideirish replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
If this is at all possible I say do it. No matter what. -
I don't understand that at all. If they were going to do that why not just double steal? That was f***ed up!!
-
That your not a scout.

In case you havent heard training camps have started. The preseason begins in August and the Season begins the 2nd week in September. Why should we not know or care about the Bears at this point? I don't know about you but I am definately able to follow two sports at once.

Why are so many people on this board infatuated with Randall Simon?
-
WOW! Give the guy a chance.
-
Kinda sounds like a LFer to me.
-
I've never heard reports saying this either:
-
or left field
