Me too... But, its actually about all I get of Chicago sports radio out here in Colorado.

KW on the radio Wednesday
The bastards were advertising KW being on the show all day. I don't think I heard any reference to Jack Del Rio being on. Now, if KW had been dissed for Lovie I would understand giving that it is football season. But, what the hell Winter meetings aren't enough reason to schedule KW over the Bear's opposing coach this weekend?

I just heard that too. Ugh!

ESPN Article on Renteria
Renteria will cost more than $2 million above what Cabrera gets. And, in this man's opinion he's worth it.

ESPN Article on Renteria
I believe that the Angels are the odds on favorite to land Beltran if he doesn't go back to Houston. Unless the Angels are planning on becoming Yankees West I don't expect they'll sign both Beltran and Renteria. The Red Sox have a ton of their own FAs to worry about. I think that their focus with their big money will be finding a replacement or Pedro, i.e., Carl Pavano. I obviously could be wrong but I saw the Cubs as the #1 obstacle to us getting Renteria. And, they have their guy now.

ESPN Article on Renteria
I could not agree more. Shortstop is one of the most, if not the most, important positions on the field. There are only a handful of shortstops in Renteria's class. He may not be A-Rod but he's damn good. He's better than that guy the Cubs just re-signed. Good right fielders are a dime a dozen. I'm convinced that we can find someone to take Maggs spot. We need to get Renteria. The other good news is that the Yankees should not be involved in this bidding war.

Possible Sox & Pitt trade
Are you kidding me? I'd trade both Anderson and Sweeney for Perez. I've been assuming that this trade was wishful thinking though.

JD Drew would be fantastic. But, alas, JD is a Boras client.

Valid points. What are their double play numbers though? I'm frankly more concerned about those numbers than Ks.

Jaret wright signs with the yankees
I too like Lieber but I was assuming he was lost at this point. I agree with those who believe that Lieber is worth more than Wright. Lieber knows how to "pitch." Not enough White Sox (outside of Buerhle) know how to pitch. He'd be a great commodity to have around and a solid, dependable pitcher. The fact that the Yanks let him go is evidence to me that they don't know what they are doing and are just flinging money around. Signs that should give hope to the rest of us.

Jermaine Dye
Another player that interests me is Jeremy Burnitz. He was fantastic for the Rox last year and they just officially let him go yesterday. Burnitz isn't the outfielder that Dye is but health isn't an issue, Burnitz is left-handed, and I think he'd be cheaper than Dye.

Jermaine Dye
You are correct on Dye's performance over the last three years. My opinion is based upon him being undervalued do to that. Dye could be a monster at the Cell if he can stay healthy. It's a risk but one worth taking up to a point (financially speaking.)

Jaret wright signs with the yankees
I will be disappointed if we don't get Renteria. The tough thing is that I don't expect that we will get him.

Jaret wright signs with the yankees
One of the things I like about Chacon is that the very wrong won't be as expensive as the very wrong on "Wright." Matt Clement is another pitcher that I like. Clement will cost more than Chacon but hopefully less than Wright. There are still a number of possibilities out there for pitching, including a trade for someone like Vasquez.

Jermaine Dye
I like Dye personally and would be more interested in spending real money on him than a one-year wonder like Jaret Wright. I'd prefer Edgar Reneria though and I believe shortstop is the kind of position you should be willing to overpay for if you can get a guy like Renteria. So, if KW thinks he has a shot at Renteria I'd prefer to see him make a run at him first and then fill the RF need. Whats funny to me though is that if Dye signs with someone else, alot of the same people who are criticizing KW for being interested in Dye will turn around and criticize KW for not signing Dye. If you don't believe me, do some Jaret Wright research on this site.

Jaret wright signs with the yankees
The price of doing business has increased. I don't think we should expand our payroll to sign a one year wonder like Jaret Wright. Can you say "Todd Ritchie?" Expand our payroll to sign Edgar Renteria, the money is there to do that with Valentin and Maggs gone. This whole Jaret Wright hysteria is almost funny. I have to conclude that most of you are just desperate for any kind of move. I prefer our GM to act with thoughtful, deliberation not desperation. I live here in Colorado where out of desperation the Rockies signed Denny Neagle and Mike Hampton to ridiculous contracts some 4-5 years ago. They still suck because of those deals. While we're talking Rockies, Shawn Chacon will be a better starting pitcher over the next couple years than Jaret Wright will be and he will cost about 1/4 as much.

KW didn't hide last year. I doubt he'll hide this year. Also, count me amongst those who think something fairly big will happen during the next week. And, frankly, I'm a little nervous about it.

Patience is required here. It's only December 7. I don't always agree with KW's moves but I do believe he's working his ass off to better the team. If KW has any weakness its that he gives too much and is too eager to make a deal (a trait that continues to concern me.) KW does not sit pat because he wants to.

It's not surprising but I thought it was newsworthy...

Randy's not coming here
From http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines One player he won't be pursuing is Randy Johnson, who has made it clear he doesn't want to pitch for the White Sox. The 41-year-old left-hander appears to want to leave the rebuilding Arizona Diamondbacks to pitch for a contender, but he also has a no-trade clause. "I've been told he won't pitch on the South Side of Chicago," Williams said
