God bless you and the horse you rode in on. You had to be a teenager at the time to fully grasp these feelings. It was the night Disco died and rock'n roll was born again.

First of all, Metallisox... that is the greatest avatar ever, bar none. Second of all, I knew Konerko should have been there instead of Tejada.

Gio quit his high school team in protest over playing time for his brother I believe. That may have effected his draft position. As I recall from the draft though, the whole thing was much ado about nothing. He looks like a stud pitcher though. Very polished for an 18 year old. And, though it is only Bristol -- success is success and this guy is kicking ass down there. I don't mind people thinking I'm gaga over the possibilities. He's a long way from the Cell but he's closer than I am.

I was thirteen years old at the time and hated disco. Since I was 13, I was a fairly irrational soul still and I thought the whole thing was awesome. The beautiful thing is that I always thought it signaled the end of a horrifying period of music as it quickly became cool to hate disco. With regard to Steve Dahl, I've had brief periods of time in my life where I listened to him regularly. He's far from the most obnoxious DJ out there but I generally found him boring after a period of time. It's been 15 years since I heard his voice at this point since I now live in Colorado so I haven't a clue what his currenct schitck is. Ultimately, this is one of many nights that make being a White Sox fan a truly liberating experience. No other sports team has our richness and character. SOUTH SIDE FOREVER!

I saw both Winn's miss and CLEE's catch the difference was all timing. CLEE timed his jump and Winn didn't. Winn's arm clearly ran into the wall stopping him from extending enough to catch Uribe's HR. CLEE timed his catch perfectly therefore his arm didn't crash into the wall. I suppose we can debate what CLEE's vertical leap was but that would be idiotic. It was a difficult catch. If you can't recognize that you've never played the outfield. Timing the catch of a baseball with running into a wall is never easy. What the hell do you people need CLEE to do to actually get some respect. The man is never hurt ala many of our other so called stars. The man almost never slumps. He clearly works hard to improve himself as a player. He's gone from a disastrously bad fielder to a good fielder by left fielder standards. Oh, yea, I forgot he's the only player in the major leagues who grandstands on homeruns. So, now I understand why some of you dislike him so much.

The Carlos bashng has been way over the top. I was glad to see this thread. CLEE f***ed up when he was thrown out at second because he was showboating, no doubt about it. But, fact is CLEE is one of the best players on this team without a doubt. He's made himself into a much better fielder (he used to suck). And, he's about the only consistent hitter on the team. His batting average is almost always between .280 and .295. That catch he made today was fantastic. Randy Winn's miss on Uribe's homerun showed how difficult a catch CLEE's was. Sammy can't where CLEE's jockstrap at this point in his career so I'll continue to bash Sammy's fake ass act and cheer CLEE.

And, Adam Ricks is off to a great start. What' he like 4 for 8 since joining Great Falls?
-
Boy, you have to be rooting for Evan Tartiglia he's like the anti-typical Sox player. He's small, he's fast, he's a lefty... There's not a lot of prospects like him in the organization.

Hot damn! It's about time. This will be the start of a beautiful relationship.

I've been reading Moneyball lately and it led me to this great website that many of you have probably visited (www.baseballprospectus.com). They have these pitching stats posted today that are pretty interesting. They rank Freddie Garcia in the top 30 pitchers (#19) in all of baseball and Bartolo Colon in the bottom 10 (#5). It's all based on this year's performance. From http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...wlreport04.html SNWAR Support-Neutral Wins Above Replacement-level. the number of SNWs a pitcher has above what a .425 pitcher would get in the same number of (Support-Neutral) decisions.
