Did anyone watch CLTV tonight, they had a round table with four sportscasters, only one that I recognized was Mike Adamle. Anyways, they were talking about the Griffey situation. They said that they anticipated a trade for Griffey in the next couple of days. They were saying that Reinsdorf really wants to win a title, and is willing to open up the pursestrings for Griffey. They said that the Reds would pay about 4 million of his contract for this year, leaving 8 million to the Sox to pay. Also mentioned that the Sox have sellouts tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, which would also help the situation, bringing in more revenue. Finally, they said with a big name like Griffey, they would bring in even more revenue with a big name star.

Was anything mentioned on talking baseball today about any movements?

Just got out of my car at 2:40 and the Score is reporting that the Sox are trying to work out a trade with Pittsburgh for Rob Mackowiak. Also mentioned that the Cubs and Sox are interested in trading for Aubrey Huff and Danys Baez.

I just read Jayson Starks article on ESPN Insider, where he mentions the top 10 names on the trade market. These are the names he mentions and what he says about the Sox. 1. Manny Ramirez-White Sox not mentioned at all. 2. Alfonso Soriano-not mentioned at all. 3. Aubrey Huff-And there were indications Friday, that the team making the biggest charge is the White Sox, who could use Huff as a DH-first baseman to replace Frank Thomas. It goes on to say that we will have to overpay for him, because that is the way the GM for the Devil Rays is. Says other GMs are weary because of his defense and his slide in home runs and OPS in the last 3 years. However, his stock has risen because of July. 4. A.J. Burnett-The White Sox, after deciding Burnett wasn't a good bet to sign a long-term deal with them, have shown no interest in sweeting their offer for him. Goes to say that no other team has shown interest as well and that the 72 hour window to sign him has past, which will scare off teams. 5. Danys Baez-The Mets, White Sox and Red Sox were still in on Baez as of late Friday, but appears that the Devil Rays are seeking the best prospect for him, which scared away the Phillies, Florida and Washington. 6. Bob Wickman-not mentioned at all. 7. Matt Lawton-not mentioned at all. 8. Billy Wagner-Since the White Sox have stopped calling, it appears as if the Red Sox are their last option. 9. Eddie Guardardo-Several teams have picked up the pace, but it now appears that the Mets and the White Sox have backed off somewhat. 10. Randy Winn-no mention of the White Sox. Out of the top 10: Jose Mesa and J.C. Romero. No mention of Ken Griffey at all.

I also think that you have to take into effect, who was playing who. Although it was a great matchup between the World Champs and the "Next" World Champs, there is no rivalry there, and it was the Flubs and the Cards, one of the biggest rivalries in sports.

Did anyone hear the asshole today on ESPN 1000? The guy that was replacing Dan Patrick, stated that he went to the Sox-Boston game on Saturday and was totally disappointed with our club and Cellular. He stated that we aren't a very good team at all, and is surprised that we are where we are at. He said our hitting sucked, as well as our bullpen, and that we only had starting pitching. He also bad mouthed Cellular and the fans, saying that it was a boring park, and the fans weren't entusiastic about the team. He said our seventh inning stretch was a takeoff from the Cubs and that there is no reason that anyone should go to a game there.

Dont you think we would be able to get Wagner for less. I would rather get Wagner, Vizquel and Griffey than Burnett, and I think we would be set.
