  1. I think they don't want to give up their long(er) term chips for anything out there. Which I get and respect. I would be more concerned if they bailed on short-term fixes knowing that really none of the moves out there make them that much strong(er) of contenders. I expect depth moves at low cost to LT value and I think that makes sense given where they are and with the # of players down.
  2. Dragic will probably be a buy out target plus maybe Thompson is my guess at this point.
  3. Yeah - it is rare that I like deals like this from both teams perspectives, but I do.
  4. This is a really good deal for both teams, in my opinion. I like Simmons athleticism paired with Durant and Kyrie (if he is playing). I also think Nets benefit from having a younger, much more explosive player. And Sixers got a lot better too - that combo should be pretty good.
  5. Just imagine if they took a card from the walking dead - not necessarily going to that extreme - but boy would it up the anti - at very least with secondary characters.
  6. Hopefully Vuc is okay - took a shot to the face on that dunk by Oubre. That said - hopefully they can hold onto this big lead and get some rest. Any road win is a good road win and Charlotte isn't bad.
  7. What Schoen has said is what I wanted Poles to say but he hasn’t. Poles might do it but Schoen sounds like a man with a plan that I have long supported. Take the pain now to position yourself for 23-25. All comes down to how Bears handle Mack, Quinn and Montgomery in particular. You could throw Whitehair and the Eddies into that mix as well.
  8. I love the Olympics - but this all man made snow is crap. Just absurd to have an event like this in an area that doesn’t have the weather conducive to host such an event. As an avid snowboarder - there is a massive difference between man made and real and with varying temperature it also impacts conditions. I also think lack of fans hurts. That said - it is a long 2 weeks and I hope Mikela can bounce back and others step up. I will say the back drop of that plant/mill or whatever it is behind some of the ski/snow style events is pretty surreal.
  9. They need a wideout - so I get it - but paying top dollar for a 29 year old wideout just doesn't make a ton of sense (one who I believe will be 30 at the start of the season). Calvin Ridley - if you buy into him - now that is something I could get on board (presuming price was right and you had true comfort). I do think part of the Bears issue is they have an utter lack of blue chip players on the offense. Mooney is nice, Montgomery is nice, Kmet is nice - none are elite, great or very good (imo). You need some difference makers there if you are going to have a really good offense and you most certainly need real depth. Oline is overpaid - but has some parts that might be interesting (depending on your evals). It is a tough spot Poles is in. I really think the biggest question is what does he do with Montgomery (would he trade him for a 3rd rounder), Mack, and Quinn. Only way you can make noticeable improvements in blue-chip talent on offense is quite frankly by acquiring more chips. Would the Falcons have interest in any of the players I mention. ie., could you trade Quinn for Ridley and a decent pick (does that have cap issues)? I have no earthly idea why Falcons would want a high end, but aging pass rusher though.
  10. Not a fit and luxury tax/payroll implications. But if it was a big - yeah, for sure. I actually see why Portland did it - they want to free up their flexibility to try and lure better stars around Dame.

    2022 Catch All

Big time congrats - excited for you and your wife and I am sure your future son/daughter will find that story memorable as they grow up!!!
  12. By the way -the reality is there is no way they are going to trade Vuc now - if they did - it would be in the off-season. They are not going to trade him mid-season when they are trying to extend Lavine in the off-season and have Derozan who is tight, etc. Reality is they will make some modest moves to improve depth and probably help the front-court while counting on getting their other parts back in time for the playoff push. I figure after the playoffs - than the front office will reassess and than figure out next path forward as they continously look to optimize and upgrade the roster.
  13. Almost all of their games against good teams have been with severe limitations in depth. They actually did very well against Nets (who have sputtered after losing Durant) - so the stat is inherently flawed there too. There is no denying we have been shellacked against the top 2 western conference teams + that ugly stretch in the losing streak - but outside of that I saw a team that was in almost every game against good teams, including having some pretty good wins against some of the more talented squads in the league. The thing is - I know there defense would drop off - but there is still no excuse for it to be this bad - not when the league is dealing with widespread injury issues (maybe not as bad as the Bulls - but with COVID (less now but earlier) and other things - everyone has had their fair share of issues.
  14. I honestly am intrigued - what if Bulls dealt Vuc now (I would have liked Sabonis over Vuc to be honest). What if they are looking at Spurs center and have a plan to dangle Vuc in a different package. I doubt it - but with this front office - honestly - you never know.
  15. At least there are solid pieces going both ways in this deal (Sabonis is very good; Hield/Haliburton are solid as well). I kept hoping somehow Sabonis would get sold on the cheap - that didn't happen.
  16. Yes on both - Jaime on his own is bearable but when it is him and Beth it just is beyond over the top / absurd. Like psychotic. I am assuming it has to do with their mom(s) death....but I am sure more to come. But yeah - Jimmy and Tex are great.
  17. That seems like a good move for the Pelicans. If they can ever get Zion to stay on the court together.
  18. Bulls made that way closer than it ever should have been at the end. That said - this crappy defensive play is getting really old. I don't care that Caruso and Ball are out - they shouldn't be this bad defensively. Zach, White, and Lavine played very well - Vuc - not so much.
  19. He must have realized he has a really bad NFL head coach. I will trade Fields for Murray.
  20. So what if instead of giving 3rd round picks to the team losing a minority coach to hc the team that hires a minority coach gets extra picks. Don’t know what to think about that but presume that would drive the desired outcome and increase numbers. Maybe it is a temporary five year program - and teams can’t double dip (meaning you can’t just fire a coach every year and take advantage of system to get extra picks each year - not saying that would happen).
  21. Obviously Biff Tannen only gambled on opening day outcomes in '22 - so Marty McFly just needs to defer opening day by 2 days to save us....
  22. Funny thing about the scenery - I told my wife - how about we drive an extra 8 hours to the mountains next year (vs. where we normally go in the winter with the kids) so we can go check out Montana. Has always been on my list - but the show has given me some extra inspiration to make it out there.
  23. I just started watching YellowStone a few weeks ago. First few episodes were a bit slow but really really glad I stuck with it. My wife and I both enjoy it a ton. Going to be bummed when I catch up. We just finished season 2 - which was fantastic. I think some mentioned Beth as there favorite character...I'll probably jinx him right now (and for all I know he dies in like an episode haha) but Rip is my favorite. But the acting is really superb out of most of the characters and as Mike said - even the sub-characters are great (i.e., the cowboys all have their own unique stories that are fun to watch). The only person I really can't stand is Jamie. Don't like the actor for whatever reason - but he might be doing such a good job at it cause the character is also supposed to be super unlikeable (or at least that is my view of it). He literally reminds me of Christian Bale in American Psycho (not sure if anyone else sees the similarities).
  24. First off - nothing -but prayers and best wishes to you and your girlfriend. I don't have any direct experience but had a friend of a friend who had experienced it and after doing dialysis for a few years (older individual - so not sure how much age may or may not impact ability to recover), but eventually was able to get a kidney transplant from someone who was a match (which was life changing experience for them - as despite the long road - they eventually were able to get to a much more normal state vs. the daily treatments which were pretty tough on them (both in terms of going through them, but also in terms of how it impacted ability to travel, etc). The individual I am referring to's condition I believe was related ultimately a complication from their diabetes. That said - I would ask those questions to the doctor (I am sure you have) but in case you haven't those are good things to know and to really understand all the things that you can be doing to help. I know diet was a critical piece in the equation for the person I mentioned (but even as tightly they managed it - their body still didn't recovery - as early on they were trying to get them back without going on dialysis but that didn't happen).
  25. I liked Lovie when he was here. I still think his time had come when they moved on - but I hope he can turn the Texans around. I still feel bad for Culley.
