  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) Moving stuff into the apartment tomorrow, coming back tomorrow nite, working til next tuesday, then moving stuff in tues-thurs, school starts on Aug 20. I'm switching majors at semester. I hate journalism, going into teaching/coaching. yup. Its cause no other boss is as cool to work for as me in the journalism industry isn't it.

    Shower Soap

I use Dove or the Kirkland brand of bar soap, depending on what is cheaper when I go. I tried liquid for a while but I swear I wasted it cause it never lasted long at all. Of course I also use the kirkland shampoo and seperate conditioner and low and behold I either drink Kirkland brand vodka (its actually very good) or Kettle one. I love Costco, haha.
  3. I was perusing through the Cubs farm system and Donald Veal is a guy I would love. I don't know if the Cubs have soured on him enough (he's got a bad era, but very good periphs) and the Sox really loved this guy (drafted him before, but he opted to go to college...tremendously talented lefty). Problem is its Pods we are giving up. However, I still say Pods is a great fit for the Cubs and its not like Veal is a top 5 or 10 prospect (at least not right now....he has the ability to do so though). I'd clearly take a Ronny Cedeno or Murton (neither will get through waivers...remember they have to clear all the NL teams first and there is no way there isn't a team in the NL to go after one of those guys). Or do you take a chance on a guy like Ryan Harvey (been horrid in the minors, but was talented enough to be the 6th overall draft pick 3 or 4 years ago...unfortunately he pretty much missed his first two seasons so he still hasn't gotten past A ball.
  4. They just said Connor Jackson, who was close to being traded to the White Sox, went 3-3 today with a HR (or something along those lines).
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Plus they gave him a full no trade clause so even if they wanted to they can't dump that contract on someone without his permission. I want him to continue to stink and than sign on with the Bears next season
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) Coop said yesterday Jose's going to start the opener in Seattle. It sounds like today they changed things based upon Buehrle's short start and that Contreras will remain in the pen (he was initially slated to go on Sunday). I think Jose next start is about 8 days away (as they want to give him a little more rest) .
  7. ESPN Baseball Tonight had someone on who said that the Cubs actually got Pods. I'm pretty sure the guy was just jumping the gun and didn't understand the waiver claim, but I figure its worth mentioning just in case. It really is too bad Matt Murton would make it through waivers to the Sox cause I would love to pencil him in left field. As I type this another guy on Baseball Tonight claims Connor Jackson was very close to being traded to the White Sox prior to the deadline.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) He only got a $2.5M signing bonus, he's guaranteed $7.2M over the next 4 years, plus he takes up a spot on the 40 man roster while making twice the major league minimum pitching at AA. God those terms made a terrible signing that much worse. That is the type of contract that is flat out brutal.
  9. 8-10 Sake Bombs and a 7AM start time at work do not make for a good Friday. Holy s***...I don't know how I survived the day. Thankfully lunch saved me.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Oh for God's sake no...Especially considering he has a contract that pays him a ton of money if he stays with baseball that presumably the Sox would wind up having to pay. Unless he had a weird contract, his entire deal was a bonus and the Cubs would be the team on the hook for it. That is at least typically how it works with draft picks. I know he had a convuluted deal that could pay him as much as 11mill or something (bonus).
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) I am open to giving up Gio, and I still hold the thought the Sox like Gio so much because of the sexy numbers he puts up. What about a Jose&Gio for Tejada? Where do I sign? I was talking about a Garland and Gio for Tejada deal that i would throw up at.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) I can't hear you. I say, what's cooler than being cool? Being me
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) Am I the only one who thinks Milton Bradley would look nice in LF and come cheap? Yes. I'd like Bradley, but the major if is that you can't really rely on him due to injuries (and the Sox already got burned so badly this year by injuries)>
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) Yeah, I don't give them that for a guy whose power was sapped by steroids and will continue to decrease with his wrist injury. And it'd probably be more than Garland/Gio, knowing Angelos. Imo, that would be a no brainer for the O's and an assinine move by the Sox. Just my 2 cents but I over-value pitching, plus I'd prefer numerous young players over an aging guy like Tejada (if we were going to give up Garland). ANd I sure as hell wouldn't include Gio in the package as well.

    Films Thread

The Bourne Ultimatum was f***ing awesome. Just oustanding. Those movies are so well done.
  16. The thing is with the O's so bad, you really don't have to pass guys too far down waivers so a deal could have probably been consumated that potentially even involved major league pieces on the Sox end. I'd like Tejada because he's an upgrade and a legit bat at a tough position. Of course I think there are better option but for the right price I'd definitely approve of a deal (one that involved the Sox giving up some major leaguers as opposed to any top notch prospects).
  17. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) According to ESPN radio, the White Sox claimed Tejada off waivers, but a deal could not be worked out. Not a shocker imo, Kenny would love to have him and so would I. He's still signed to a valuable deal and is still a good player and would be a welcome addition (especially if you could get him on the cheap). Although I'm guessing the O's wanted a bloody ransom and the Sox wouldn't oblige.
  18. My two teams...Iowa and ND right where I want them...ready to be sleepers!!!!
  19. Gavin...Jenks...Richar...Owens...YES.
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) You would let go of Jim Thome, one of the best and classiest people out there for the games biggest prima donna? I would trade Thome even if we couldn't get Bonds. He's old and this team needs to get younger, not older and while it may lead the Sox to taking a step back, it will also infuse the club with at least 2 top level prospects and probably an additional good prospect and that is exactly what this organization needs. To be able to than get a bat like Bonds would be a freaking coup (plus it would be a brilliant move as regardless of people's feelings on Bonds...it would also really help assure the Sox would once again have very good attendance).
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) Could always dh Bonds and unload Thome for a hell of a package. Just throwing that out there. That is what I'd like to do. I think Thome can get you talent and he's definitely old and you can't tell me Bonds couldn't come in and be a similar player (the only question is whether the club would put up with Bonds attitude, but we all know just how much Barry respects Ken Williams).
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) I'd do Contreras for Burrell. Pat has only 1 year left on his deal (2008) but he'll be paid $14M for that one season. At least with him you know you'll get about 25-35 HR, a very high OBP and a ~.500 SLG. I know the Phillies have tried to unload his contract in the past but I'm not sure Gillick is desperate enough to do such a swap. I think he'd at least consider it though and thats exactly the type of deal I'm talking about and yes I'd also do that deal (of course Burrell is kicking so much ass right now that it will be hard for Gillick to sell that deal, even though all of Philly hates Pat).
  23. I'm serious about Willie. HE's having a great season but I still don't see anyone giving him huge money. You could sign him and play him in CF (he was never that bad out there) and he gives you a boatload of speed. Plus Willie is patient, can run, and is still on the right side of 30. Richar at 2nd gives you more speed than Guchi obviously and you replace Uribe with a SS, and than if you get the right offer move one of our starters for more ML ready position talent and than maybe make a run at one good size free agent if you feel ready. Or just go with a Willie and Bonds FA signing, haha.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) No s***. Picking up Bonds for LF next year would be an awesome move, and if Kenny is really confident that the pitching is good enough to compete next season, it's really an easy decision to make. I'd then put Fields in RF, Crede at third and go cheap for CF (Baldelli? Owens-Terrero platoon? Hell, even Sweeney?). Umm...Willie f***ing Harris in CF. DUH.
