  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) I dont either. The presence alone of Ichiro in the lineup makes it better than this years team. Rowand and Ichiro are infinite upgrades over the procution the sox have gotten from Dye/CF.
  2. I actually didn't mind that lineup.
  3. Nah, I'm working on that right now Steff. I'm not closing this DB down and we may actually be able to do this without losing posts (key word being may) or any of the info. We have a lot of things in the pipeline right now but the good news is when this is done it should be screaming (key word being should). The stuff done last night worked brilliantly. Give me about 25-40 minutes or so Steff and I'll have your stuff (you don't have to log out or anything).
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) so, besides the starting over, will everything else on the board be pretty much the same except faster and better? Any new features? There will be new features...I just don't know what. We will also be unleashing a new front page (finally I swear on the Sox this will be a permanent feature for the site...but it won't be released for some time).
  5. Freaking badass....think looks amazing on my work laptop.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) I believe Gio would have only been on 2-3 days rest, or am I wrong? He pitched on Friday...which means today would have not pitch on Sat or Sunday and typically this would be the standard time for a bullpen session so I find it funny that he couldn't pitch for an inning.
  7. Baj is undergoing surgery on his shoulder this week. Hopefully he'll be able to rehab and make his way back to the show.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Well clearly... i am guessing the sox would be leading the division with him this year too. Leading the division...try best record in baseball
  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) I don't disagree – I just wondered at the timing of it if you cared much about getting any outside votes. Then again, if the plan is to stuff the ballotbox like real Chicagoans, what's the worry, right? Exactly...we will show how great we are when we win the thing with almost no posts and just a few registered members
  10. Good stuff. It is also interesting or at least intriguing that Gio was requested not to pitch. He last threw on Friday IIRC (same time as Floyd's start) so it isn't as if he were tired and not ready. I wonder if a promotion of some sorts is near or if some other type of move is close.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I guarantee the poker guy is making a killing from the thread in slam ( I know, I used to promote the same thing) The question for me is how the hell do I get in on that and cut the advertiser out. Than we can have a cadillac of servers
  12. I wouldn't have a problem with that move, especially if the Sox than swang Jenks for a bloody ransom. You than still have your closer for next year in Lidge and have parlayed Dye into a number of prospects (well technically Jenks but to do so you had to move Dye to keep yourself strong at the closers position). Wouldn't be bad and I must admit I like this creative thinking Lemon.
  13. Interesting. I hope Joe can come back and swing the bat well. It will give the Sox reason to work out an agreement with him and with time he should be able to create some trade value and in turn allow the Sox to get something of value for Joe (or keep him if they opt to go with that method while moving Fields to LF). Still I'd be stunned if Crede stuck around after proving himself healthy (heck he may very well get non-tendered).
  14. That something we thought of but I've never been in it for the accolades (albeit I was really stoked to get listed in the top 8, just like I was stoked to have an interview in ESPN the magazine and see this site featured on Sports Illustrated). Still, I think with more hard work and a stable server set up this place will continue to emerge as a premiere community, baseball site and well just all around great web site.
  15. I've always said this place is fun for me so I never and will never charge any sort of membership fee (you can all hold me to that). I recover costs now through the couple advertisers that are up here and one day I hope to make some nice side money on the other sports sites that are up (however, never at the members expense). Now thats not to say if someone offered me a 100K advertisement deal that I wouldn't jump on it (wink wink to any big time backers out there, LOL). Glad everyone here likes this place as I know without it I personally would know a heck of a lot less about the Sox.
  16. We are going to do this where we hopefully have absolutely no site outage (we have already backed everything up) and I'm actually doing the install right now. We will be cleaning all the bugs up or at least most of them before launching the new version sometime tomorrow. We will also have an outage later on this week when we likely double the server's ram (which should also help the site out).
  17. I'd be stunned if he wasn't back. The question is whether the Sox will have the resources to bring Aaron and another FA in.
  18. QUOTE(Calderon @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) Tom Collaro, your 2006 Southern League Home Run Derby champeen.... Sweetness...thanks for that update and welcome aboard
  19. I think when we start over we will go through and look at ways we can organize this place even better but we will also always take into account whether splitting a forum up a bit will take away too much discussion and in a sense make the forum inactive or little used. So the crew will definitely take a look at that and see if it would work (heck I don't venture much into some of those areas so I'm going to go through places looking to see what can be added, what can be shrunk, etc) and see if any other peoples ideas would work. Lord knows we've consitently done this on a trial and error basis and we are always up for trying knew thinks that could make this place better. Also note, if you have any important PM's grab the info. In an ideal world you will have access to them again in 2 weeks but with me doing some of the work you never really know if you will
  20. Ya, we could definitely have some bugs and stuff after completion but just know we will be working as hard as we can to get everything solved so we can rock and roll from here on out.
  21. The Soxtalk.com staff would like to inform the members of a temporary site closure that will occur during the All Star Game (July 10th, 2007). During the ASG, the Soxtalk.com crew will be working behind the scenes to build a new message forum in order to try and alleviate the server issues. Unfortunately, after the forum is created, every member will have to reregister and start from scratch so to speak as we will be starting over with zero posts, zero members, and zero world series titles (something I hope the Sox will quickly change). After everything is done we hope you will continue to choose to come to Soxtalk.com for all your White Sox needs and we will do our very best to continue to provide the best place to discuss and follow White Sox baseball!!!!! We will also continue to push ourselves to release new features and constantly make this place better. We appreciate all your support over the years and look forward to what the future of this site will bring With that, if you have any signatures or avatars will you please save them onto your computer so you can easily access them (we will most likely have access to all that stuff, but it will not be for a minimum of a couple weeks, which is when we'll have an archive set up for this site).
  22. Yeah, I had a hard time making my votes because so many guys kicked ass. Still in the end it was impossible for me to look past McCullochs ridiculous stats.
  23. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) question: how long would the board be down? If only a couple of days, I say do it now. If not, wait until after the baseball season. Also, TalkBears, TalkBulls, etc. would all remain the same, right? Ya, it would be at maximum a one day closer. I should have planned this out better but If I could find time and work with Kap on it we could potentially do it in a day sometime before the ASB comes to an end (of course that doesn't mean it will work out that way as we are still exploring some other options).
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) But my ignore list filled with banned users!!! I wouldn't mind starting over, but please keep those who were banned from here to remain banned. No second choices for those guys. Are you going to wait until july 31st like KW to see if this thing needs to be blown up? And have no fear...the banned list will be moved.
