  1. I got a 23, basically right in between Bush and Powell. I knew a couple questions where I differed because on non economic issues I don't necessarily fall on the typical conservative republican side. However, when I vote the #1 thing I consider are economic factors and thats why I vote heavy republican.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) And yet somehow here in CA, gasoline is actually more expensive by quite a bit compared to a month ago And we are one of the states that actually has oil too. I've never figured it out, although I do know our taxes are higher than most states (due to the massive number of people who drive).
  3. QUOTE(Tmar @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Wow, thats a pretty crappy looking country. Looks more like an oil rig to me.
  4. Never heard of Sealand, but if Peter Griffin could own a country why couldn't you or me? Anyone have any pictures of this place (out of curiosity's sake). I've always wanted to buy my own island (been a dream of mine since I was a wee lad) but I didn't know that I could actually opt for a country (if I won the lotto of course). With that, what would you guys do if you had your own country (what would you change in your society, what would you do differently and most importantly what would you call this country).
  5. The big problem I remember (I did it once way back in the day for the CD's) was that you get totally screwed on shipping. I just took advantage of the free one's and than fullfilled my obligation and left and said I'd never do it again. I may have saved a few bucks, but the shipping charges suck (or at least did) not to mention they didn't typically have the selection I wanted. Plus when it comes to a lot of movies, if you look around Target or Best Buy, often times you see really good movies on sale for like 5.99-9.99.
  6. I'd think Meyer has a chance to totally cash in here. He could either get a major NFL deal (not something I'd suggest taking unless his dream is to coach in the NFL) or he could use the NFL teams coming to him to get him a ridiculous contract extension at Florida.
  7. I'm sorry, but Ripken and Gwynn are two of the most deserving HOFers ever.
  8. Wow....and I'm still stuck at work and have about an hr 15 minute drive home. WHOOOHHHH
  9. Another classic is if you look up the term "Gaged"
  10. If I'm with my buddies or at there house, I'd call em on over and give em a good chuckle. If it were at a girlfriends house or something like that, I'd frantically look for a plunger and some sort of poporri.
  11. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) If you thinkthe Sox are an 83-87 win team this year...and the Sox do trade Buehrle and/or Vazquez now...are you prepared for a 4th place finish and barely making .500 if at all? I'm not. I, personally, would rather have the Sox compete year after year. If that means that we trade some of our chips and let some go with just draft pick compensation, then that's what it means. If the teams is competing year after year, it's a lot easier to catch lightning in a bottle when you are consistently winning. One exception to that rule would be the Marlins. Tore down and built back up. Great post. Completely agree.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Further question - what do we know about Owens' defense? I saw him play a game in Tucson last spring, and watched a couple games this year he played in, and he seemed pretty solid out there. How would people describe his defensive skills? There is a reason this guy is pretty much a left fielder. Basically think of Pods out in the field. Jerry Owens is not a good defensively outfielder (That said I'm not saying he's terrible out in LF like Pods is, but nothing special). In general the only thing that really helps Owens is that he's fast and considered a good athlete. However, bottom line this guy is probably super over-rated by many Sox fans and quite possibly under-rated by others (myself included).
  13. At one point in time this guy was a really good looking prospect. Seemed to be a nice fit but he had a serious injury and has really not produced as the Sox would have liked him to.
  14. Please let this mean that Iowa ends up getting the RB Martin (I think thats his name).
  15. QUOTE(shipps @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) For those that like Death Cab you should give The Long Winters a listen.Very good stuff. Thanks for that recommendation. Some good stuff. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 06:02 AM) I'm in a definate minority here I'm sure, but right now I can't get enough of "A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars. The track "From Yesterday" had me hooked from day one, before it hit the airwaves. I think the Leto brothers, and their pals made a great disc last year, one I listen to alot. They are god awful live, but the album is very good, imo.
  16. QUOTE(G&T @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) That woman in the Mercury car commercials. I have no clue what her name is. I'm totally with you on that one. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 11:52 PM) I love Figure it Out, they run episodes of it on Noggin, I try to catch it as often as possible. Believe me when thinking of Summer Sanders it's all about her Nickelodeon days, hair back and a tight orange T-shirt on that slammin' body of hers. I'd say there's quite a few late teen/early 20 year olds that are right there with you and I on the Summer Sanders infatuation. Alex Mack is another one of those Nickelodeon faves from back in the day. She was and still is insanely cute, once again nothing strange about liking her. Hell ya on Alex Mack!!!
  17. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) I think Russell is gonna shift to the pen this year. I remember hearing or reading the same thing (I think I read it somewhere).
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Well sir, that so called mid major had the exact same record as the big 12 in last years ncaa tournament. This season the Valley so far is 2nd in the Conference rpi where the Big 12 is 6th. The Valley is over .500 against the bcs conferences, the big 12 is not. And the Valley is 3-3 against your big 12 this year. You can call the Valley whatever you please but it certainly isn't acting like a mid major on the basketball court. Sorry Alex, but I think its hillarious you slam the Valley. They are a strong conference with some quality teams. Sure the top teams in the bigger conferences should beat these guys mosts nights, but thats not to say there aren't good teams in the Valley (of course there are and they are darn good and can beat a lot of the good schools in the power conferences, maybe not the great one's but the good and mediocre ones). First Iowa and ISU need to get past those guys before you even yap about being a final 4 team (at least this year). You are gonna lose and I don't consider a loss to Northern Iowa bad. We shouldn't have lost either game, but thats life and the Hawkeyes lost, oh well.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) Heh, Steve Alford. Giving your superiors just enough to justify keeping you. Yes...he's gonna get his 300th win and we are 1-0 to open big ten season. I should add, if Cyrus Tate plays like that, Iowa is a borderline top 25 team. We basically need an inside presence to be a legit tourney contender (otherwise I see us being a bubble team at the very best). However, I think Tate has all the ability and if he plays like that both Smith and Haluska should get more open looks (and good god is Smith going to be an absolute superstar if he stays for 4 years).
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) You don't always need killer talent to get yourself out of a slump. This Illinois team has had to deal with a lot to key players already this season. The McBride dui, and the Randle/Jamar injuries. I'd bet in another week or two Illinois will look much, much better. I bet this will be the first time Krush agrees with one of your ludicrious predictions
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) I dont understand how they can do that. I don't get it either. I know tons of people that watch it every week. Its a freaking hilarious show. Somehow I'm pretty sure the poster Cali is to blame.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 07:29 AM) BTW fox announced that the OC is cancelled. What a load of crap. BOOOOO.
  23. Download the Show Mario and Jason are back for their second off-season show. In this weeks episode they discuss the recent change in philosphy made by one Ken Williams and the end result of that philosophy (two starters being dealt for prospects). In addition they talk about one of the most sensible moves of the off-season, one that was made by GM Ken Williams. Oh and Jason and Mario were so jacked up for the show that they end up spending about 5 minutes on some other Chicago Sports teams!!! Download the Show Streaming Version of the Show
  24. Welcome aboard. Great to have another Sox fan on board
