  1. I know I could get par before Woods could get a major league hit and my guess is so could most major league players (much quicker than I could get a major league hit). Although I'm sure with enough swings I'd get lucky.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) Via Reifert Orange County/Anaheim areas are the reason why AJ has a chance...little does Reifert know
  3. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) FORZA ITALIA!!! Wow that was amazing. The first half was a ton of fun to watch with good action. The 2nd half was a little dull, but the teams cancelled each other out. The overtime was amazing. Both teams subbed in offensive players and those guys dominated. The midfield was bypassed due to fatigued players and it made play wide open. The finish by Grosso was amazing with the great bend. Completely awesome. Forza Italia What a sweet series of goals in OT by Italy and that was definately the best overtime (in terms of action) of the entire cup.
  4. AJ was just on cold pizza talking all about it. Oh and definately Dodger fans, because A, AJ sucked up for the Giants which they liked (he really didn't stink, but he wasn't a good fit and they gave up Liriano, Nathan and Bosner). Than AJ helped knock out the Angels who many Dodger fans don't like (although many Dodger fans are also Angel fans).

    QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Wait, wait....did you say weaksauce?
  6. QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) no intro music? im sad. I was dissaopointed too, its my favorite part but Mario was very busy and wasn't able to get to that this week.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) Northern Iowa? Ya, and the Illini are the best football team in the great state of Illinois. IN years past there were probably high school teams around the country that could beat them (the Long Beach Poly's of the world). Does SIU have a FB team, if they do they probably could have too
  8. Hey Tiger fans, I'm curious, are there any good Tiger sites on the web? If not, would you guys be interested if we could put together some sort of site for you all (not that you aren't welcome here, cause you are, but a place that you guys could call home). You tell me cause a lot of you seem like damn good posters who follow your team and other teams. We could probably put something together.
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) I can't wait! 1st Soxtalk celebrates a championship and now TalkBulls and TalkBears may be joining Soxtalk, who will hopefully be going for a repeat performance in 06 And ya, I left out the Hawks for a reason...even I'm not that dumb
  10. I got a lot of respect for Lieberman and I think he's a class guy. I may have a different take on a lot of things politically, but Lieberman is one of the best the democratic party has to offer, imo. He's a high character guy that doesn't seem to snipe and sometimes realizes its better to support something for the greater good even if his party is clueless to it (just a personal opinion and the reason why I stay out of here cause I'm not into debating the whole thing).
  11. Happy Bday to two of the very best Soxtalk has to offer, even if one is a damn clones fan. I was gonna say something bad about Tony, but don't got anything to say, its not like he totally hates the best football team in the state of Iowa. Anyway hope you both have a fell of a bday while celebrating our great countries bday

    QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Harrell with his worst start of the year.... After two easy innings, he lost all control in the 3rd, and wasn't getting anyone out. I hope he didn't have an injury, but he wasn't put back out there in the 4th. No initial report of an injury from what I know.

    QUOTE(hogan873 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) You're right, it is a good division. But until last year, with the Sox winning it all, the AL Central got very little attention. Now it seems there's a lot of focus here. Its hands down the best division in baseball and you could make a case that 3 of the 5 best teams in baseball are in the division (Mets and BoSox being the ones not in the division; I left the Cards out for a reason, namely that there pitching is weaksauce and I tend to think the Mets is too).
  14. Download the Show Mario and Jason reunite at last as they discuss a 4-2 record in what may have been the club's easiest week of baseball of the season (in terms of schedule). Despite not being able to gain any ground, they were able to maintain the distance while the Tigers and Twins continued to play impressive baseball. From rumors of Andruw Jones and Chone Figgins to the return of Cliff Politte...Soxtalk on the Air covers all. Streaming Version of the Show Download the Show Subscribe to the Podcast

    QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) McCullouch's 1st start? Ya, he made an appearance already though.
  17. It gives you a more upper cut swing cause your trying to swing for the fence. I am not a fan of Dye being in it, but I'll cheer like hell for him. Plus its not like he's a power hitter (I say that in the terms of a pure power guy like Dunn or Thome). A guy like Thome, he wouldn't have to adjust his swing cause its a natural upper cut long ball type swing.
  18. Very good stuff. Of course just cause Anderson is our guy, doesn't mean they have another guy in mind for a short term stop gap while Anderson makes some adjustments. Ie a Chone Figgins type who could come in and start in CF this year and than slide over to LF (with Anderson going back to CF). I don't think we will do that, but its out there. And I support Brian Anderson in CF and I've been one of his biggest proponents for some time now.
  19. Definately the current one. Although I'll take whichever one gets us a 2nd ring
  20. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) I would call this year more the fluke, cause I highly doubt he's going to be this bad next season. IMO, he can get semi close to his career numbers from last year than he will this season unless he puts off surgery cause it's quite obvious he's not 100%. I stray from a fluke (last year) simply because it was one of the few years in his career where he had back to back seasons where he was entirely healthy. Injuries have really bothered him throughout his career and prevented him from having some pretty good seasons. Nothing as dominant as last season (thats really hard to do) but his stuff was pretty damn good. Now its pathetic and he can't locate it.
  21. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) I mostly agree with you, except that I think some of your young starting pitchers (Verlander) and maybe some others (Bonderman/Maroth) who have no competitive MLB experience whatsoever might have a tough time down the stretch On the flipside, this may be so new that if they have the right attitude they won't realize they should feel the pressure. Its usually one or the other (not so much in between) but I do think the Tigers are going to be a major player in the central for the next few years and technically speaking you could definately make a case for them being built for long term success (ie the next 3-5 years). Of course a ton can happen during that time and the Sox (while we are a bit older) still are a relatively young team aside from a few players with most of our core guys locked up. Minny should join the fray and if Cleveland makes the right changes they will be around too. Its gonna be a dogfight year in year out for the best division in baseball (currently home to the 2 best teams in baseball).

    QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Slide him to the 'pen? They don't have to do that to protect him from overworking himself, IMO. Also, I'd like to see him complete atleast one full season at Bham before there's any talk of him joining the Sox. I am simply stating it may not be a bad idea late in the season if his inning totals are really building up. That said your right, as long as they are careful with his pitch count it won't be an issue.

    QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Who was it that said Lumsden was a better prospect than Gio? Was it Jason? Anyway, good call. I'm not saying that Lumsden is better, but he's exceeding my expectations and then some. That would be me. Lummy still has some strides to make, but it was no secret that he had the best left handed arm in our system. It was just a matter of staying healthy and he's done exactly that. Its pretty impressive considering this is his first full season. Because of that the Sox need to be careful with him and I wouldn't be shocked if he slides into the pen eventually as they try to be careful with his innings (to kind of protect him). I also think we may see him at the major league level at some point this year (out of the pen). But it may not be wise if he isn't going to have much of an impact cause there would be no reason to start the clock early.
