  1. He's a very active member of this board who does a good job staying on topic and staying out of personal attacks. We feel he'll be a great addition and will be able to help Rex in an effort to keep this place running smooth so everyone here can take part in as much political discussion they want or as little as they want. So to NorthsideSox
  2. This thread can now get back on topic. The said poster was banned and I cleaned all the Bs out of the thread now. So if there are any Tigers rumors feel free to put them in here. It was a great idea the starter of this thread made because its always nice to know what the team ahead of us in the division is up to.
  3. The Sox are going to find out what Politte has left now, so if he doesn't have anything left they'll have time to make another acquisition or turn things over to someone else. I am thinking when he does come up, we won't see him used near as much as the Sox try to keep his arm a bit more fresh and hope that allows him to feel better when he's on the mound.
  4. I love Clemens. The guy is one of the greatest to ever play the game.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) I don't know if I'd take Z even now. Liriano is younger, a lefty, walks way less people, is just as unhittable when he does throw strikes (which is a lot more often), and isn't a raging lunatic. Ya, but Zambrono has proven that he can handle a heavy workload, throw deep into games, and juts be an all around beast. Liriano has yet to show me that he can go super deep into games and this is coming from someone that thinks Liriano is the best 1st-2nd year pitcher in the game. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Yep. I remember looking up his stats this past offseason and doing a doubletake. I looked them up to compare him to Buehrle, and I have to say--from the stats--Zambrano is the better pitcher. Could just be the weak ass NL though. Watch him pitch, he's the most dominant pitcher in the bigs...along with Johan (although I take the 2nd half Johan's over anyone probably).
  6. Still a hell of a game pitched by the kid. Now Sox need to hold on and keep pitching cause we have the slimmest of leads.
  7. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Felix Hernandez wants his spot back! Seriously, King and Liriano are both amazing. King has been dominating of late. Nothing against King, he's good, but I'm partial to lefties and Liriano and Santana have a shot at being as dominate a duo of lefties as there has been in baseball history.
  8. It deserves repeating...DJ and Hawk :wub
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Whats that...a no hitter. Is that when a team doesn't have any hits or is that when no punches are thrown in a game? I make the post...and Thome f***ing CLOBBERS it, 1-0 GOOD GUYS Hawk and DJ
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:39 PM) For anyone that doesn't know, Reyes has a no hitter going. Whats that...a no hitter. Is that when a team doesn't have any hits or is that when no punches are thrown in a game?
  11. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) You want me to comment on that as well? You know who is dominating. The best pitching prospect in baseball.
  12. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Naw, Uribe only hits when everyone else in the lineup hits. Those are the times Juan "carries the team." :rolly He sure hit when none of our others guys were coming up with the clutch hit. The hit tied up the game against the Reds.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Whoever mentioned the Freddy/Johan game from last year, DING Except this time we'll be the team spoiling a no hit bid
  14. LoL @ Lemon. Brings true meaning to the term "Lemon". He could throw hard though, but than again so could Matt Anderson (he pitching anywhere???) Just foul.
  15. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Yes sir. I love these type of games. GOod pitching on both ends and it magnifies the little things that really make baseball such a great game to watch (bunting, defense, moving guys over)
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Garcia's stuff is getting much better as the game goes on. Time for Mackowiak to start the inning off right. Thats Garcia's MO. He gets sweaty and he gets nasty.
  17. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Tyler, is that you? I'm bias, he was one of the picks I really loved in that draft (Whisler, uggh). I feel the same way about Tracey (big fan of what his arm could do in our pen; simply because the stuff is there for him to be sucessful).
  18. Hell, they took a guy like that in Wes Whisler and it was a freaking terrible pick. Sox liked his arm and thought of him as a project even though he was horrid in college. He's had injury problems since entering the system, but has put together a few good starts as of late. When it comes to gas, Its more important out of the pen and we drafted a few really hard throwing relievers this year in Long and Omogrosso.
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Yes on second part, no on second. Our scouting philosophy overall limits pitchers with high potential. Recent first round draft picks have suggested so. Lumsden, a relatively hard thrower, wasn't throwing 93-94 when he was originally drafted as a sandwich pick. Mentioning Reyes is more of a joke; although I'm honestly not a fan of Broadway. I continually mention prospects who succeed and compare those to ours, who RARELY exceed immediately upon promotion. About Liriano, and finding one for our own, I'm honest when I say our process of Latin scouting is atrocious. It hasn't produced even a 4th OF in nearly 8 years. Even those who were traded haven't gone on to be successful. Hate to break it to you, but Lumsden was one of the best arms of that draft and he throws about as hard now as he did than. BA is full of crap on a lot of the gun readings they go off of. A guy hits a certain speed once and all of a sudden thats how hard they throw the FB. Lummy pitched in the low 90's and will ocassionally rare up and fire one into the mid 90's. For the most part he's 90-91 with more movement and will also throw a FB in the 92-94 range and than ocassionally rare back and fire one a bit higher. He has a good cutter though thats in the lower range while he will throw the 4 seamer a bit harder. Lummy is also a freaking stud on the mound (his composure is most excellent).
  20. Yaddier makes a really great grab in foul territory to end the inning. Crede popped out and we really failed to take the lead.
  21. AJ doesn't get the job done, softly hit ball to Eckstein who caught it. A little harder and its gets over the head of the drawn in infield.
  22. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) I want him to throw a nono, but still have the sox win. We were no hit by the Yanks in the 90s (I think it was the 90's) and won 4-0 IIRC. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) They'd be nuts to throw AJP a fastball here. They did and he hit it foul.
  23. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) I didn't see the play, but from your description, it sounds like it would have been a HELL of a play, and might not be an error. He jumped when he didn't need to jump and the ball landed square in the middle of his glove. Would Mack make the play, probably not, but Taguchi got there and should have made the grab. Hawk and DJ are such a joy to listen to. Between DJ trying to jinx the no no and there analysis of what Larussa is doing on the field (moving the fielders up to distract the hitter; something we can't see from the normal camera angle). They are homers, but they both know there s*** for the most part. Although Hawk does ocassionally upset me with some of his rants.
  24. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) Not sure if you meant this, but just to be clear -- Reyes is American. Starred w/Prior at USC.
