  1. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Ozzie said in the post game interview that BA is going no where and he will be the regulr center fielder. I hope BA can get on track and we can put this behind us for the rest of the season. He must have read Soxtalk QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Reifert says holla: http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/inside_th.../mr_clutch.html Hey Greasy...do you think it was me or you that said that? QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) I wish he would just get a couple of hits a week. Man, he is so bad offensively. You'd think he'd just run into one every once in a while. I am definitely glad for his defense, though. But, remember when a lot of us thought he could hit 15-20 homers this year? Ha, were we ever off. Just stick with me, I was the one laughing at some of the predictions you all had. Its been known a long time that Anderson had some flaws in his swing that were going to lead to some trouble eventually (personally speaking for a long time he was proving me wrong and I wish he kept doing so; I'm referring to how quickly he'd respond to a promotion) but in teh end it caught up with him and now he's going to have to work hard offensively to get those holes fixed and have a better approach. I do think he's capable, but he's the type of player who will take a little time to come through offensively. However, we could see him have a hot streak at some point this season where we can see a glimpse of the future offensively solid BA.

    WCIU

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) I still don't get that damn WCIU HD channel though I did get ESPN2HD today which was awesome for World Cup action. Oh snap, maybe my cable provider picked up ESPN2HD as well. Gonna have to check that out.
  3. I hadn't looked at the thread yet today and was looking at the box scores and Nanita caught my eye. I know he had some funks after his initial season (where he killed the ball) but he seems to be doing pretty well and was a solid athlete.
  4. Its official Dan: Roemer will face Missouri's Max Schurzer tonight at 7 p.m. in the opening game of the 2006 Super Regional at Goodwin Field. Gonna be a great booth on ESPN: Karros will be there and apparently Robin Ventura may very well be there for Sat and Sunday's games. "For the second year in a row, Cal State Fullerton will also be hosting ESPN as they broadcast the entire Fullerton Super Regional live on ESPN2 and/or ESPNU. Follow all the action from home as Dan Pasch and former Los Angeles Dodger/UCLA Bruin, Eric Karros bring you all the action from Goodwin Field. Another former Dodger and former Oklahoma State standout Robin Ventura may join the booth on Saturday night bringing additional color to the broadcast."
  5. BA cracks me up. Miller looks like he's found his control, but I've yet to see him throw a FB over 91 MPH. His slider is filthy though (got does it have some left to right break to it). Not saying Miller isn't really good, just laughing at how he is "supposed" to throw in the upper 90's. That said I understand velocity is often lower in the CWS because the pitchers are tired and are often worked a little harder than they are used to. The gun could also be a couple ticks off. Miller looks like he's gotten settled in though (had control problems in the 1st).
  6. Sweet game about to start here with Miller starting for UNC and he'll be going against Lablanc of Bama (another very good pitcher). Bard will pitch tomorrow. UNC has the type of rotation that could flat out dominate the playoffs and lead them to a national championship.
  7. One of the best bunters in the collegiate game (Bradshaw) drops a bunt for a single and now you have runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. A single may tie this game, double will probalby score it and the 3rd and 4th hitters are due up. Wow, Old Roberts shortstop made a tremendous play to keep the ball in the infield, but couldn't get an out (did save the tie for now). However, bases juiced with 1 out now for Clemson. 7-6 ORU The Cubs 1st round pick, Tyler Colvin, is now up at the plate. Very good hitter and he just won the game with a walkoff grandslam. WOWZA, awesome game.
  8. Clemson looked like they were going to Beat Oral Roberts, but in the 9th inning with 2 outs Roberts got a rally going and tied the game and has now taken the lead. Clemson needs a run in the bottom of the 9th to send it to extra's. Been a great game.
  9. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) AZ asked about him not long ago and the package they wanted was something like this, Steven Drew + Micah Owings and Miguel Montero which is to step of a price to pay Ridiculous. I wouldn't deal Steven Drew for many guys and I'm a fan of Owings (They got him for a good value in the draft).

    What the heck...

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Now I'm agreeing with Jas..how far have I fallen? I dunno about 99%, I'll say 98% and that is my final answer. Just don't start using my grammar and you'll be alright
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Yeah, I think for that trade to be fair, we'd have to take Cameron (without SD picking up any of his salary) and Carillo for Fields. Carillo probably wouldn't do us much good this year. He was recently promoted to AAA, but when he was promoted, his AA stats were worse than Broadway's (and they played in the same league. Actually, come to think of it, I actually think Carillo could be the type of guy that could help out a ML pen relatively quickly. He has a nice FB and IIRC a pretty good slider which is typically a good fit in the pen. Maybe we can flip a guy like Fields for a CF and a prospect who could help out our pen. Sure its a bit more of a risk, but in a years time the Sox always have the option of flipping that prospect like Carillo for someone else. We couldn't do that if we got a mediocre reliever (I would not deal a top prospect for an average reliever). Broadway isn't the type of guy that I could see making a big impact in the pen, but in time we could see the Sox look to a guy like Lummy down the stretch (and obviously in September) as well as Tracey (who we now have up). I'm typically a fan of using more power arms in the pen (even though I could care less if a starter throws really hard, but with starters I look a lot more at there secondary pitches and with relievers all I care is if they have one other pitch that they can throw for a strike to go with the FB).
  12. QUOTE(brewerbacker @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) Brad Lidge 2006? Or Brad Lidge 2005? Thanks, that's what I had thought too when I heard others McCarthy that idea. It would have been like you guys trading Ben Sheets for Brady Clark (if he played for another team). And no, McCarthy isn't the type of prospect Ben Sheets was, but he's still a damn good one who has had success at the major league level. McCarthy ranks just below Liriano and Felix Hernandez and even with a few other guys that are currently pitching at the major league level.
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I missed the part where Ervin Santana was. As Jason said McCarthy>>>E. Santana. Anyway, it looks like the article said the Rays wanted corner IF and power arms. Fields + Lumpy? That plus a guy like Valido or Wes Whisler (ie a player thats faded a bit but still has potential) would be a deal the Drays would have to listen to. I think Fields, Lumpy, Broadway, Sweeney all have a lot of value.
  14. QUOTE(brewerbacker @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Hey now Kalapse, no need to swear... oops. Sorry. I forgot that Jared Fernandez is considered a 4-letter-word only on Brewer sites. Question back to you Sox fans... How about Brandon McCarthy for Brady Clark? I've heard Brandon McCarthy proposed by some Brewer fans. What do you southsiders think of that? Could he be had for Brady Clark alone, with additional players, or not at all? Brandon McCarthy is one of the 5-10 best young starters in all of baseball. I realize he's stuck in our pen, but he'd be a starter on almost every team in the majors (today). So unless we are getting a Brad Lidge type player, there is zero chance the Sox give up McCarthy for Clark.
  15. Well I'd do that deal and I think you may be right with us having to get something else from the minor league level (and a very good one at that). Fields is a stud prospect, but we don't have a position for him so us getting a need for this year as well as a pretty good starting pitching prospect (and a guy that I personally wanted over Broadway; not that I don't like Broadway because i think he is capable of being a #3-5 starter) which we could use next year or event convert to the pen (hey, good starters can become great relievers even though some coudl make a case thats wasting talent, but if we got excess talent why not). And as Kalapse pointed out, Linebrink would look good, but I don't know if we could tap into there pen, but even then I still think Fields is too much and we'd need a prospect or something back in return.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) This man would look great comming out of the Sox' pen in the 8th inning. I like Linebrink a lot, but would you guys actually give up Fields for Linebrink and Cameron?
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) They really need a 3B. I wish we had one who was leading the IL in OPS. I wish the Pads had a reliever or two they could give us, along with Cameron to make things interesting. And I think the Pads would give up a whole lot for Fields, however, I don't see them having what we would need.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) Or it's a matter of opinion, trading McCarthy (only righty setup man in the pen right now) + prospect (could be used to add pieces) for Carl Crawford in order to fill a position that is not the most pressing need of this ballclub while further weakening the most pressing need (bullpen) is just down right laughable. No doubt I completely agree with you that helping this pen is >>>>>> than doing anything with CF or SS. Ozzie is just ruining things by not starting BA out in CF.
  19. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 08:37 AM) What would you say to this deal? Sox get: Ceasar Izturis and Kenny Lofton (or Jason Repko when Healthy) Dodgers get: Josh Fields I'd do it. Lofton could help out in CF (although I"m a big Repko fan) and I know a lot of people here don't like Ceasar, but he's a top notch defensive SS who can also play 2nd and has shown at times that he can hit for a good avg at the ML level (still not great at drawing walks). QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) I could have swore that Little was going Furcal first, then Lofton 2nd. Did he make some changes recently? I haven't watched a Dodger game in a week or two. Ya...Furcal 1 Lofton 2 has been the way they are doing things.
  20. Cameron is a legit pickup. Health issues, but he plays a good CF and is a solid offensive player when healthy plus I concur that it wouldn't cost too mcuh if we picked up the salary (thus allowing the Pads to be able to pick up another guy or two that they deem more valuable for the stretch run).
  21. McCarthy >>> Santana (Earvin not Johan).

    What the heck...

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) Jessica > Ashlee /waiting for aboz to enter Ashlee >>>> Jessica and 99% of other girls in terms of looks. I me some Ashlee
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) In the spring training game I witnessed, he consistently pitched around 94-95. It appeared reliable. I believe in another appearance Lumsden was sitting around 91-92, but I didn't watch enough of the game to determine whether the radar gun may have been off. He definitely has a live arm and a relatively effortless delivery. Even with past arm troubles -- which I suppose someone could argue proves his delivery isn't very fluid -- he's probably the best we have in the minors. HE's very very talented with great mound presence (a confident pitcher who doesn't back down). His arm during spring was more in the low 90's but he was still getting back to 100% and still pitched good. Flashed a real nice slider but still isn't consistent with it and I think the Sox have been working on a change and possible a bit of a curve with him (not 100% on that though). He throws a cutter or two seamer as well and gets good movement on his pitches and throws in the 91-93 range but can reach back and fire a few 94-95 and if he were pitching out of the pen I think he'd be 94-95 on a consistent basis.
