Carlos Lee??
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 06:20 AM) I think he'll end up at the Dodgers anyway. Ned Colletti wants to win now, and they have the prospects to get a deal done. Although if I was the Dodgers GM, I'd be hanging onto my prospects, because Ethier and Kemp are doing a fairly solid job for them. With the way Kemp is playing, I'd have Kemp or Kent starting at 3rd base, cause Kemp has been great as has Ethier.

Gary Matthews Jr.
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:15 AM) Thanks for the thread. Honestly, I thought this revival was all about him playing in Texas, but those splits suggest otherwise. He's always been very fast and a plus defender, and maybe he's having his 2003 Esteban Loaiza year at the dish (if that makes sense lol). He wasn't at all bad last year, he just wasn't this good. I always thought Sarge Jr. had some talent, it was just a matter of a team giving him a legit chance. That said he probably won't be hitting this good at the end of the season, but he's capable of a .270 avg with 17-22 HR's all while playing pretty good defense out in CF.

Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle crash
Didn't they say he had a pretty big gash in his head (a few inches).

QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) oh c'mon, what do you think. Pods is too pretty for me, I'd be afraid to scratch him. You could really see crede as a cuddler. "Pods is probably a girl" - rowand44 at the game yesterday. That makes Dergan even hotter in my book

Carlos Lee??
Im not even going to ask. This is when the Griffey logic totally makes sense: "Where would he play"

Ozzie Lambasted Over Weekend. Do you Agree??
I'm with whitesoxfan101, if Ozzie is defending anyone on roids than he can flat out piss off. Now If I misunderstand what he was getting at, thats one thing, but if he's sitting there saying Grimsley shouldn't rat out other guys or tell people whats really going on than he can piss off as could any other player. I hope people come clean and whoever is using gets busted, even if its Sox players, because I want a clean game. Between now and than I'll still be rooting for my team and booing any sob that gets caught (even if I found out my favorite player, ie Konerko, was roiding, I'd boo him).

QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) oh man, it probably doesn't work out in cali, but at school, girls love the crede talk. I have the argument of "Podsednik or crede?" almost daily with this one girl. He really is brought up in about 75% of my conversations at bars. I don't know if I should be excited or completely scared. I thought my beard was a part of 75% of your convo's. Now you got me jealous. On a sidenote, who do you choose, Pods or Crede and tell me its Mutton Chops. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) This sounds familiar. I only know one thing I will never bring up again at a bar, and thats the Illinois basketball team. Afterall, Alford's recent choke job gives me no ammo.

Quest Tec UmpireTechnology
I'm not a fan, but I'm also not a fan of Buehrle or anyone else for that matter making excuses. Pretty soon they are going to tell me that it was ques tec that was hanging those sliders for Politte. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) I'm probably in the minority, but I like a defined strike zone. I can't stand when an announcer says a particular pitcher needs a certain pitch to be called a strike. To me, it's right in the rules of the game. To get a called strike, you need to throw it through the strike zone. I just want the umpires to get the call right, and to be consistant If your around the zone and earn the respect of an ump, thats part of the game and you should get a little more forgiving of a zone. Just like if your all over the freaking place, you deserve to get freaking squeezed.

Gary Matthews Jr.
I just want to admit, that it was a horrid idea of me to even suggest the Rangers would get rid of this guy. He plays very good defense and is scolding the ball on a playoff team. The Angels may make a run, but they appear to be tanking again (despite the emergence of some young hitters) and the A's are playing well, but the Rangers should put up a fight with Oaktown for a while.

SS Help
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Damn you Gage and your twisted logic. I just don't know what to do with coaches, simply because I'm too lazy to look up the names of the hitting instructors in Charlotte or Bham. So I'll just say we can hire Boone Logan, he sure knows what to throw to make guys hit, so maybe he can enlighten our hitters on just what to look for.

QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) once they see our wall conversations that include the word 'crede' approximately twice a sentence, they're swooned. One girl actually was scared about it, but I had to insist that we weren't talking about that crappy ass band.

ST Poll: After Count, which starter has been the most consistent?
That would be Javier Vazquez. I guess you could make a case for Garland being consistently pathetic too. Although he has been mediocre as of late and despite my remarks I have a lot of faith in him.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) I also use it to check up on how Gage is doing with the women. I got this site and that gets em hook line an sinker. And if that doesn't work...I just bust out pictures of the old playoff beard

SS Help
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Yeah, it would probably cost just about 100% of our top minor league talent, in other words his requests are completely unrealistic. Unless...that ss is Robert Valido, that 3rd baseman is Josh Fields, those relief pitchers are Sean Tracey, Augustin Montero, and Tyler Lumsden; the CF Ryan Sweeney and who can forget our new 5th starter (replacing Garland) Lance Broadway.

Sox Go 4-2 Against Divisional Foes
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) That was a solid week of baseball for the Sox. They won all their games against Cleveland and Detroit in the 8th inning or later. That was very impressive, and it’s good to see the never-say-die attitude getting into the 2006 edition of the Sox. I like the idea of LaTroy Hawkins a lot too. I don’t see the pressure being on him in a place like this, and Coop can’t hurt him at all. I’m partial to the guy, because he played A ball in Fort Wayne. And another tidbit along that line, AJ has caught Hawkins in the minors and in the majors (all in the Minnesota organization), when he was extremely solid. As you well know, I’m very happy that Ozzie has finally given BA the nod as the CF and stating he’s not going anywhere. His glove is just so damn valuable, and that’s much more important to any offense he can give us. And his bat will come around a bit before the season’s over, looking at his history. He’s done some solid stuff since he’s been given the vote of confidence. Two great nights at the dish on consecutive nights, and he’s still making all kinds of plays with the glove. I don’t disagree with you at all about the PK/Thome debate. There’s just too much injury risk to see Thome starting games in the field in the NL parks. Thome’s streaky and I don’t see him being too affected by not being able to get 3-4 AB’s every game. Frank and Jurassic were able to get AB’s in those series last year without starting, and they were fine. The Frank dap. Solid show guys; I’ll still be listening despite my lack of comments the next few weeks. I figured I had to send ya off in style with some nice comments on Big Frank. The big man's deserved it from his play as of late. I'm always willing to admit my mistakes or innapropriate words. He's playing really good in Oaktown right now. Now to hope Uribe figured things out and that we'll have mostly new topics to finally talk about next week (as opposed to BA, Uribe, and of course the pen; but I don't see the pen issue going away). I am personally excited to see Freddy's next start and if he'll be out there throwing a lot of fastballs. I truly believe Coop and Ozzie left him out there to get shallacked for not listening to them by throwing more FB's. No other way to learn your lesson than by getting your ass handed to ya on national tv. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Nice use of Death Cab For Cuite We are going to get a lot more high tech in terms of sounds. We haven't in the past because our sound board was only one one computer and I wouldn't be able to hear it, but I finally got some equipment so we each will have sound boards and can hear the effects, so hopefully that end of the show will get a little more professional. It also means my taste in music, which includes Death Cab and tons of other bands.

<FutureSox.com>Young hits #300, Phillips earns 8th victory, Knig
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Yeah. He was a top Phillies prospect, correct? Ya, he was pretty highly rated. IIRC he even had some success at the major league level before falling face first. My assumption would be that he got hurt???

Carl Crawford
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) That sure sounds like struggling to me... So really, there's not a prayer of the Angels giving up this package, what with their affinity for prospects, and their "ballless GM" (stolen from the man quoted above), right? Exactly and it would be assinine to give up Wood and Santana for Crawford. The Angels need O, but they need a big time run producer in the middle of that order. Dallas McPherson, Kendry Morales and Mike Napoli are all keepers and Brandon Wood is probably one as well. That system is loaded, the Angels may just be best suited losing this year. They have a strong fan base and if Morales keeps developing, McPherson stays healthy (he's starting to mash) and Napoli gains more experience they will be much improved offensively next year. If they can go out and get themselves a top notch CF (even if that guy is Hunter) and get Colon healthy and make an upgrade somewhere else (maybe getting rid of GA and replacing him with a better left fielder) and they could really be in business. Hell a guy like Carlos Lee could really be a great fit. Kochman and a few other guys will be available though, but the Angles would be dumb to deal any of the 3 youngsters I mentioned above. Oh and I think teams would be highly interested in Mathis. The other reason I wouldn't be against a rebuilding movement (for a short term period; ie this year) is because the Angels would have to do a whole lot to turn into a world series caliber team. Even if they snuck in they wouldn't go anywhere, so they are best off missing out on the playoffs this year, getting those guys developed, and than jumping back out there next year (Weaver comes off the books, the younger bro should be set to be a starter and the rotation should be better, especially since they will at least know whats going on with Colon).

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Anyone see The Omen? The acting was pretty uninspired, but it wasn't half bad as far as remakes go. I just wish Julia Stiles could have had more screen time later in the movie. I saw it last night. Half of my friends hated it, a few of us liked it. I think a lot of people hated it because they expected to be one of those scary movies where s*** just comes out, but overall I enjoyed it. Some horrible acting at parts of it, but what horror movie doesn't have that. Wasn't bad, wasn't great...solid is what I'd call it. Stiles wasn't looking as good as usual though.
