On Friday, Ryan Meaux tossed a No No
Just wanted to point out that former Sox farmhand Ryan Meaux tossed a no no this past friday. It wasn't just a no no, but a perfect game, although he didn't pitch the entire game (he did start). It was for the Portland Beavers (AAA).

Josh Fields Makes the Hot List
Fields was in the team photo: Josh Fields, 3b, White Sox (Triple-A Charlotte): The former Oklahoma State quarterback is in the midst of an eight-game hit streak and has his average up to .343, which trails only the immortal Kevin Kouzmanoff in the minors among third baseman.

Carl Crawford
First off, the Angels aren't trading Brandon Wood, especially not for Carl Crawford. Second, whoever said Wood is struggling, he's got 14 HR's in AA and a .288 avg. with a .365 OBP and a .567 slugging percentage (over .900 OPS).

Who here uses facebook? Any version of it.
I have that and myspace, but don't pay much attention to it. It was kind of cool seeing what some of your old high school friends/classmates were up to when I first signed up though. One nice thing about facebook is the event thing, makes it easier to tell an entire group about a party your throwing or a poker game.

Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) Beat Italy and Ghana and the U.S. advances no question, but in that senario (assuming the Czech's win at least 1 of their last 2 games), the U.S. will be the #2 coming out of the pool and will probably have to play Brazil as a result. Couldn't Czech's defeat Ghana and Italy defeat the Czechs with the US defeating Italy and Ghana, meaning you have 3 teams that went 2-1.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) A.J. with an RBI fielder's choice.....ok. 6-0, 1st and 3rd for Crede. I thought that was going to be his 3rd double play. Crede goes down on a high heater from Benoit. Sox up 6-0

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Crede hits it far too hard. You have to give Koronka a hand for sticking it out.... Dammit Gage, you're fired. What for? I emailed Omogrosso today. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) I love Fullerton. They are so well coached. Close game though, you guys got a shot. Tied up...I'm a little slow.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Hey, 2-1 Georgia now... True Jas, but 8 HRs in the first game, then they absolutely collapsed in the 2nd game after being up 4-0. This team is so so young. I love Fullerton. They are so well coached. Close game though, you guys got a shot.

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Dick, all we can do as Sox fans until the climate changes is fill USCF, watch the games to lift the ratings, buy the gear (more World Series gear, hopefully ) and patronize sponsors of White Sox baseball. The tide IS turning, albeit slowly. The White Sox's attention to families and children is now and will continue to gain new fans and young fans. As the Cub demographic grows older and the new Sox fans become the ones with expendable income, you'll see the shift exposed more in the media. Harping on about it ad infinitum does very little, IMO. Also, I have no problem seeing 2 positive Sox stories and 5 negative Cub stories. That's another "statistic" Hangar ignores - how many of the Cub articles would actually sway a fan to root for the Cubs? If I read yet another Kerry Wood DL story and another story detailing the mysterious litany of Mark Prior ailments, I am NOT thinking, "OOOOOH, I GOTTA go see Carlos Marmol pitch on Monday!!!!" As long as JR and KW stay the course, I see good things in the Sox's future, and the media will not be able to ignore it. Great post Critic. We got a shot to have a fun few years ahead of us.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Last year I used to post that when I look at the tigers lineup I find it hard to believe that they don't have a much better record. On paper, they were terrific. I'm doing the same thing this year with the Indians. Last season's second half charge aside, I think they could use a managerial change. Something's not clicking like it should under Wedge. Just look at the rotation and bullpen and there record should start making sense. Oh and the fact that they are freaking horrible defensively.
