  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 06:20 AM) I haven't read anything on ESPN or watched any TV on it, but from what I've heard things have gone from possibly a metal plate in the head, toothless with mangled knees to lost 2 teeth, knees are fine and he'll be released in 3-5 days and is expected to be able to play in 7 weeks. Pretty amazing if true. I heard someone being interviewed and they said he was going to be released relatively soon.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Germany might want some extra security... http://news.yahoo.com/fc/sports/world_cup_2006 Police arrest 40 Polish fans at World Cup AP - 2 hours, 15 minutes ago DORTMUND, Germany - Police arrested 40 Polish fans ahead of Wednesday's World Cup match between Germany and Poland, a sign they wouldn't tolerate trouble surrounding a game circled for its hooliganism potential. Four known hooligans were arrested near the soccer stadium and found to have knives after Polish police in town for the game pointed them out to German authorities, Dortmund police spokesman Georg Blaszyk said. The best part was that on World Cup Live (On ESPN) they were talking about the incident with the soccer houligans and apparently the Polish and German houligans had a practice fight just prior to the world cup. A practice fight....what would Allen Iverson think of that
  3. The Germany Poland game should be great later today. Saudi Arabia game is just getting ready to start up.
  4. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 06:00 AM) I have no doubt in my mind that Ryan Sweeney can hit .300+ in the majors. He is in some ways similar to Joe Mauer in that everyone excpects their power to develope over time. Obviosuly, Mauer will have more power and is a better overall hitter, but they are similar. His swing is just so pretty and he's a very good athlete with a strong throwing arm. He's gonna be a good one, as long as he can stay healthy (and that is something that has given him trouble; namely the nagging injuries).

    WCIU

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Hey, long time poster at the other site, but I recently ran into a mod with a power trip. I'm the only one with the balls to call him out apparently, so he flipped? Not too sure, I'll find out in a month. The other place is my first choice, but it's nice to come here and be able to let loose. Anyways, WCIU sucks, but I have to say I dislike WGN more. How many times can you come back from commercial break with a 1-1 count?! Just want to say welcome aboard. Secondly, if you think WCIU or WGN are bad, you'd have hated to be watching the Texas feed on xtra innings today, most of the time it was 1-2 (if not all of the time) by the time the game came back on. Still, you guys are lucky since you have HD. It sucks for fans out where I am, we live in a huge market (LA market) yet none of the teams have HD broadcasts (Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers, Kings, Ducks, Angels....NONE).
  6. f*** Bruce Arena. The prick needs to go. He went out and pretty much completely called out Beasley. I have no idea where Arena gets the balls to call out a guy who was placed completely out of position (that would be Arena's fault). And Beasley's response was correct, there was quite a few ocassions where he was one of our lone players to come back and play defense and Beasley helping out on the defensive end probably saved another goal. What a joke Arena is. He had a total cluster f*** of a lineup out there in game 1 and now he's going into a war with words over Beasley (who I guess is who he is going to use as his scapegoat).
  7. This is from the Trib. Ozzie went on to say he is expecting nothing out of Hermy, but Herm Schneider said they told him to do what he needs to, so he can go in early July. However, Schneider said he has no idea whether thats even possible. I think we all knew we can't expect anything from Hermy and if we get something, just consider it an unlikely gift.
  8. That is when he is first eligible to come off the disabled list. This is according to the Trib, which reported that Politte has had two consecutive pain free long toss sessions. The Sox should know more on Thursday or Friday as he's scheduled to throw a bullpen session. It sounds like he's got bone chips, but he thinks he can avoid surgery. Here's a blurb from the Trib
  9. From the Trib on McCulloch: "The Sox are close to an agreement with Texas pitcher Kyle McCulloch, their first-round pick in the amateur draft, on a signing bonus worth more than $1 million." Sounds like good news.
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) You can have a 30-day rehab So they got 7 days and you know darn well that the Rangers are doing all they can to stall right now.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) NASTY! There's not a hitter in baseball who hits that. Great pitched game tonight. One of the best all-around pitched games of the season. Definately. With a little more defense Garland goes a bit deeper, but regardless we've had a few solid starts in a row and the pen did a nice job (aside from Garcia's shellacking, but I was happy with that start cause I think we'll see him come out the next time around throwing his fastball a lot more).
  12. I closed the thread...next pitch slider and the whiff. Sox win, Garland picks up his 5th win. He pitched a good game and Konerko's 3 run hr was the difference maker. The pen did its job as well. Cotts didn't give up a hit (and helped out Jon), nor did Brandon (2 innings of work) while Jenksy gave up a double and than got 3 quick outs.
  13. That hammer didn't break much, but it should have been strike 3. He called that on Guchi earlier in the game.
  14. Umm...not quite over with. 2-2 count with 2 outs.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Not a good start. I'm telling you, that extra run we couldn't get in during the 8th inning really hurts. Still, if we can't protect a 3 run lead, we got other problems. We should hvae had an extra run, but Bobby has his job in order now. Tex grounds out to Paulie, Young to 3rd. 1 down w/Blalock coming up.
  16. Young rips a double on the 1st pitch.
  17. Time for Big Bad Bobby Jenks . Looking for his 19th save. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) She is adorable Capn. Logging IPs is not allowed Kap.
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) You never denied the 'flamboyant' or 'hairdresser' part I see. I can't even get my sideburns thinned out properly, so I'd really question anyone dumb enough to let me cut there hair. Bauer gets Paulie to strike out. Looked like Paulie was trying to shoot it to right field and was just a bit slow on the swing.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) I think Oz made the right call. He had a decent outing going and Judy was screaming to get out. Best to leave it to the pen at that point. The nice part was that Jon was able to leave and be in a spot to get the win. Its got to be a confidence boost for Jon. The only problem is Jon has done this as of late (good start going) only to get rattled later in the game.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) http://www.gazetteonline.com/2005/03/29/Ho...loo_slaying.htm You have had to seen this by now... Ya, Heads told me about it when it happened and asked me if I happened to be african american and whether I lived in Iowa. Its about all that shows up the 1st few pages on google.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Great job by Cotts/McCarthy. If Jenks can't save the game with at least a 3 run lead, you tip your cap to the Rangers. He'll have their 3-4-5 next inning. Yep, he's gonna have a tough go round against the best of the Rangers. Wow, Guchi just missed a solo shot.
  22. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) On the radio, they are talking about poor lighting in the left and right field. Anyone else seeing this on TV? The Rangers announcers on TV were talking about how when its sunny out its very hard for the left fielder to get good jumps. They said yesterday's earlier start (6 O'Clock start) effected the jumps the left fielders would get (Wilkerson especially). We all know Pods gets crappy jumps anyway.
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) http://cbect.fullerton.edu/bap/photogaller.../jason_gage.JPG That would be me. I was too lazy to wear a tie. I was the treasurer.
  24. Paulie gave a nice effort on that and than Kinsler flies out to Anderson in center. Two down. Anderson and Kinsler were high school teammates.
