"This Too Shall Pass" Thread
We are playing bad and there are some definite problems, but I know we have the talent and I'm expecting Jon to continue to pitch good, Jose to do his thing and in fact get more so to how he was early this year while I actually think Vazquez is going to have a big 2nd half. I just hope Buehrle can figure things out...who knows about Freddy but we can put this thing back together real quick, imo. At the same time, if tihe pitching doesn't improve this team isn't going to be wearing another ring this time next year.

And That's A White Sox Loss
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) This is the anti-2005, remember how great that Cleveland series was comming out of the break last year? Damn that was fun. I was thinking that yesterday...we started off looking great in the 2nd half and boy did that end fast, maybe we'll do the opposite this time around with the same net result (World Series championship). I hope they take the off day to refocus and do what they need to, to be prepared to take care of business against the Tigers.

Brian Anderson just landed on the Mendoza line
He's looking a lot more comfortable at the plate. I'm thinking the patience is starting to pay off and in a few years it will really be paying off when he's putting up similar numbers (while playing similar defense) to Torri Hunter.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) 4 runs on 14 hits = PATHETIC Especially considering Pods and Guchi were on base like 8 times.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) To be honest, we haven't played very many good or great teams thus far. But I agree, we DO have the talent, but we don't seem to have the focus right now. Now its time to maybe get some cluth hits...maybe....just maybe

Just a friendly reminder that despite all this s***, we didn't just stumble into 20 plus games over .500 We are playing like garbage, but the talent is there and there are still a lot of games left to be played (whether thats good or bad, I don't know).

WOW.

The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks
Wow between the extra run scored from having Mack in CF and than the lack of just getting guys over and in today, we should have this game notted up already with this being a shot to take the lead. Instead we need some major clutch hits by the offense to pick everyone else up.

Major hole now. Our team can't get s*** down. Hawk and DJ have been great today, wish they didn't have to be this harsh though cause it would mean we would be winning but what they've said needed to be said. Now come on Juan...find a way.

7/15 Games
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Cortes' last 10 outings. 60.1 IP 62H 2HR 19BB 50K 3.13ERA He's really flying under the radar as a 19 year old in A ball. He also has a very good arm. Kanny had a ton of raw but toolsy guys that failed most of the year but some of them are starting to figure things out. Throws into the low to mid 90's (as high as 94-95) and has made a lot of strides with his changeup. Anyone have his groundball ratio cause I know he is supposed to have a real good sinker.

Ya....heads put it in...most of the avatars that show up are ones put on by other admins as they toy with me cause they know I zoen out and never pay attention to that sort of stuff.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Hey Admins: this thread has a curseword in the title. Does that mean we're allowed to curse in our titles, as long as we asterik a letter? You did say no one was exempt from the new rules. Or I could just ban ya for making a post like this.

I think its a real waste using all those pitches in a game we are losing with an off day coming up but who knows. It could be things like this that led to Freddy's drop in velocity. He was throwing a few more FB's the past 3 innings and I think he gave up just 1 hit during that span.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I think the opposite....he put us in a huge hole rather early in this game. He's just lucky he's buddies with Ozzie....95 pct of MLB starters would have been pulled in the 4th inning. I think of it as Ozzie teaching Freddy a lesson and Freddy has thrown his FB a lot more now and done quite a bit better. As I say this Giambi will probably hammer one out.

Heads just told me that Josh Fields was pulled from the game in Charlotte. Is he traded or did he get hurt?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Teams that rely so much on their offense are usually dissappointed when the season is over. I should add, I'm not about to blame the offense since we have all these wins thanks to it and its bound to go cold. Too bad our pitching blows and your post is spot on. Our pitching doesn't pick up and the season is over, they MAY make the playoffs, but they won't go anywhere unless the pitching turns around.
