  1. QUOTE(zygoat @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) wasnt navarro suppose to be the stud prospect in that big unit trade?? He hasnt done anything and now he is stuck with one of the most losingest teams ever year (that division is nails with yanks, bosoxs, and diamondbacks) The Dodgers pried him from the Yanks when they got involved in the Shawn Green trade (yes the Big Unit trade). They insisted on getting him and finally got him once that deal went through (Javier was supposed to be headed to the Dodgers, but than he wouldn't go, so he stayed in Arizona.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Yeah, and Eric Wynalda has been dead on with everything he's said this World Cup. The guy has no business anayzing anything. I love Wynalda. He called up Arena's and Donovan and anyone else that sucked for the US. I also loved him and Lalas arguing from time to time (Lalas is the man too). QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) No, I'm not, but for a soccer "legend" in the US, he sure as heck complains a lot and makes a lot of biased/incorrest/opinionated comments. Penalty? Rynalda didn't necessarily call it a penalty. He more so said the Aussie player made a huge mistake and the Italian player took advantage of it and did what was necessary to give the call. He basically said you have to tip your hat to the Italian player for doing so and obviously the Aussie player made a mistake (since it was a dumb slide tackle attempt inside the box).
  3. Interesting move. The Dodgers need help in the rotation and Hendrickson is a pretty damn solid lefty who should be better in the NL. Plus Seo has really struggled with the Dodgers, but he's decent enough that he should help the Rays. Navarro fell out of love in LA, but he's still pretty talented and has a better long term future than Toby Hall (is Hall going to get many starts when the Dodgers have Martin doing a pretty damn good job??). This is a really good move by the Rays since Seo career wise is just as good as Hendrickson (plus a bit younger) and Navarro is a pretty good catching prospect (just the Dodgers could afford to give him up with Martin really looking legit). Dodgers needed a starter and Hendy is hot this year while the Rays get some pretty good help. I actually think the Dodgers overpaid a bit, but when you need a starter you need a starter.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) well, he's obviously not that incredible a talent, or he wouldnt bounce everywhere. however, i wouldnt mind getting a young arm back, regardless. He's very talented, the problem is he isn't ready to pitch at the major league level (nor should be considering he was coming from A ball). Thats why he wouldn't really stick on a team like the Rangers that finds themselves in the thick of the race. However, a team like the Royals or some other s*** team would be stupid not to take a chance on an arm like his and just live with the losses (its not like there other guys are any better).
  5. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) It looks like they keep trying to play an offside trap at mid-field. Probably not too smart against a team like Brazil. Yep, plus I think Ghana is gassed. They played a very good 75-78 minutes of soccer.
  6. Ghana has copmletely outplayed Brazil for 72 minutes but Brazil has gotten 2 goals (1 was a bulls*** goal where the player was offsides) and Ghana blew an easy goal. Brazil's experiene and a little luck is the only reason they are gonna get past a Ghana team that played fantastic.
  7. If I edited the wrong post, my mistake, that would have been on accident. I was editing the stuff on the Tigers. In fact, what happened was you must have reposted at the same time I was making my edit so I erased over the post you had with the pitching matchups. Go for it and repost the matchups . I just wanted to make sure the city stuff came to an end and we got back to discussing the Sox and Tigers
  8. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) Sure he will. He'll get suspended for 5-10 games (more likely 5 depending on what was said more than what was done). He's employed by the Colorado Rockies. His "owner" isn't really an issue. Apparently he was a pretty firey player too. I have no idea the type of manager he is, but the odds of him getting fired for this is slim to none, imo. Its not like he ever touched the ump. Sure he went on a tirade, but I'm also sure it deflected some of the angst with whatever has been going on with his team.
  9. Friendly admin reminder to all members of this thread, enough with the city bashing. Lets move on and discuss the teams. This is a Tigers thread so its cool to have Tiger fans here, but I need to reiterate, those Tiger fans better stay respectful. We encourage friendly and healthy debate amongst posters of other teams (such as the Tigers) but that doesn't mean a Tiger fan will get the benefit of the doubt like a Sox fan will (simply because this is a Sox site first and foremost). Anyway I think the Tigers are a damn good ball club and I have no doubt if the opportunity to make a move presents itself that they will try to do so. There is no guarantee said move puts them over the top, but Ilitch is willing to pony up the dough. Than again, Kenny was willing to pony up some stuff last year but coudln't get anything done just because a lot of teams were still around. Who knows if that will be the case this year or not. I do think the one thing going for the Sox is that there pitchers don't have as much of a history of fading in the 2nd half of the season, but the TIgers pitchers (most of them are young) so its really hard to look at any potential trends they have shown since they are still developing. Of course I do think there is a good chance someone like Verlander would tire just due to the total innings he'll be throwing compared to his previous inning totals. But that doesn't mean anything if the Sox can't get there 4th and 5th guys back on a roll (Vazy/Garland/Garcia).
  10. Wow, Swiss were tremendous defensively, outplayed Ukraine, but just can't score. Eliminated without ever giving up a goal in this years world cup.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) Wait till they try that crap on England. The premiership is probably the most physical league in Europe. England goes through to the semis is my prediction. I sure as hell hope they do. I never root for England (the only team I have blood in that I don't root for; I'm a quarter English) but after that display Portugal put up against my Dutchies, well kick some ass Beckham and company
  12. Forza Italy Oh that Dutch game yesterday was bulls***. Screw the Portugese players and there dirty ways.
  13. I think part of it also stems from Thome not being as selective. He seems to be swinging at a lot more first pitches lately and I know I've heard him say before, that when he's at his best, he's really selective waiting for his pitch.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Carter is crushing the ball but wasnt he just pathetic in low A at the begining of the season? Ya, he was demoted back to extended spring and now is back at short season. The guy is VERY VERY taletned though. Than again so is Brandon Allen and he hasn't exactly been doing much down in Kanny either.
  15. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) Well, I would be done for, that's for sure. What kind if HD TV do you have and how much did it cost. Also how many inches...(the TV I mean) 50 inch Mitsubishi. Its an older one, but I couldn't tell you how much it was (I don't own it). I think it was like 1500 or something like that. I know Costco has pretty nice ones (pretty big too) that are way better than what I have for like 1500 (DLP's are pretty sweet).
  16. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Ah s***..I wonder if DirecTV has something like that. I thought you had to have a HD TV to have HD..but all you need is a high def box? Or don't tell me you're pimpin a high Def TV too. If that's the case I'm gonna have to throw a fit right about now. Ya, we got a high def tv. Once you have a high def tv than you need to get the box. I'm sure DirectTV has a high def box (probably a bit more expensive than cable since you got to buy it or however that works). It's awesome...I'm never in my room anymore. My tv pails in comparison. If somehow I was able to get all the Sox games in HD, oh my god, who knows what would happen to me Sunday night baseball w/Sox is an extra treat. Sweet...Sox game is on here. I think most people will get it cause Morgan and Miller are announcing it. Only exceptions will be New York and Florida markets.
  17. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) You have HD?!?!?!?!? Ya, its awesome. I love it during Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, basically any sporting event, Lost, and a few other shows. Plus HBOHD is great. Our cable company charges like 9.95 a month and we get the high def box (which is also a DVR - best invention ever) so it works great (its like 4 bucks a month more than digital cable).
  18. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) I'm glad the Sox were finally able to win 9 straight after not being able to get past 8 consecutive wins the past two years, but should it count? 8 of the 9 wins came against the inferior National League, which isn't even in the same league as the Sox--literally. :headshake I'm going to close this thread. It sucks this is becoming a trend as of late, so I hope everyone reads this and takes notes. #1 make good threads #2 if you make a post, be respectful of everyone on this site.
  19. I am gonna be pissed if I don't get my Sox in ESPN high def tonight. Just got home from working all damn day and want nothing more than to relax, cook up some salmon and watch the game.
  20. If you run into anything let us know. Kap was the man and solved my f***up. Later tonight we will hopefully get the search function fixed for good. We are very close to solving that dillemma.

  22. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Charlotte and Winston-Salem rained out. Barons won 2-0. 8 shutout innings for Malone, whoa. Box Score Kanny lost 17-2, ouch. Ricks 2-3. Richard, among others, rocked. Box Score Great Falls lost 7-6. 2 hit days for Hunter, Shelby, and Cruz. Box Score Bristol won 8-3. Jason's boy Woodson with 6 IP, 2 R, 10 K, 0 BB, 4 hits. Box Score Woodson had a really nice debut. I won't be shocked if he moves to Great Falls and eventually to Kanny by season's end. That said he needs more than just one good start.
  23. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Maxi Rodriguez with the goal of the tournament so far given the circumstances. Great Great Argentina Mexico game. Mexico looked very good for a lot of the game, but Argentina also started to get things going after a slow start and they picked up the win in overtime. Awesome game. I think it was the best game of the cup thus far. Argentina will meet up with Germany (two of my 3 favorites to win the game; obviously Brazil would be the favorite). Of course I'll be rooting for Italy and Netherlands.
  24. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) OK, it's obvious Joe Crede took his sweet time developing into what he is now: an elite third baseman. He fields his position well, has great numbers that stack up, and most importantly, it can never be argued that he rises to the occasion. However, this does pose a problem, though a good one. The White Sox have Josh Fields looming, who no one can argue is very close to the next level. Through 64 games with Charlotte this year, he is batting .321 with 11 homers and 39 RBI. However, Joe Crede is still young enough that I would appreciate him being around for years to come. Then there is Ryan Sweeney. The solution to the Fields/Crede backup is to have Fields work in the outfield. Unfortunately, he's not going to learn centerfield (where we have an opening now and in the future), nor is Sweeney. Sweeney is still just 21, but is a future star in the big leagues. Personally, I don't think we have much to look forward to in Jerry Owens, who is not even hitting .250 in AAA. I see Sweeney taking over for Dye or Podsednik when either one of them leaves, but what about Fields... as Hawk would say, "where will he play?!" I just want to point out that Sweeney is a very good athlete and he's been getting a lot more playing time out in CF. He has a strong arm and is a fluid runner. I'm not saying he'd be as good as Anderson (not many are anywhere in baseball defensively) but I wouldn't hold it against him to develop into an average to above average defensive CFer.
