  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Keep the peanut butter where it belongs. . . In the bedroom with the whipped cream and the giant rubber squid Rubber squid...come on, fresh squid is the only way to go. And you thought whip marks were bad

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) I thought it was Cold Stone = over-priced. People making 10K a year definitely won't be stopping there. Hell, I make a bit more than that and I never go there (and its not like I have any expenses aside from car and my own personal fun expenses, since I welch off my parents fridge food and still live at home). However, if I go by a McDonalds I am more than willing to pick up a sundae. Those damn things are good for 99 cents. Desert is the only thing worth buying at McDonalds. On a sidenote, why doesn't McDonalds super size sundae's, now that would turn me into a fatty

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I'm pretty much on all personal returns right now. This is actually my third tax season so I might look around a little this summer. I have to take the last two parts of the CPA this spring, ideally I'll be done with that then I can venture out into the vast unknown. South Dakota? Nice... Not sure how much real work experience you have but you will quickly see how little college prepares you for this stuff. :banghead Ya, I quickly learned that during my internship with Grant over the previous summer. I think all college was supposed to do was basically help you learn how to learn on your own. I just know if they do send me out, I'm looking forward to getting that free round trip ticket every other weekend cause that will give me at least a few flights into Chicago to see some Sox games.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 04:10 AM) That's because YAS was so upset when he found out the ship sank in Titanic Damn it Tex....I haven't seen the movie yet and now I guess I'll never see it. Seriously I've never seen that or American Beauty and have no interest in ever seeing either.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) your avatar kills me dude. I'm about ready to copy Greasy and Rowand cause that thing is just BAAMF
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Well, I don't eat the polish, but on the dogs, yea, I do put ketchup. And I'm not trying to sound like an ass, I'm just trying to understand how people can tell other people what they can or cannot have on their dogs to be a "true" Sox fan. Hell if people want to complain...I like putting peanut butter on eggo waffles. Its freaking delicious with a little syrup.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) You guys really put ketchup on the grilled dogs and polish at the Cell? Never bought one. The few times a year I'm at the Cell I look forward to getting a Brat and I live off them at the park for that weekend
  8. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) It's OK, nobody expects the Californian to get it. Is this kind of like putting Wiz on a real cheesesteak sandwich. Cause I happen to love Philly's and those you gotta get with Wiz (although they are damn tasty with provo too). So is it a sin I put Ketchup and Mustard on my brought (to go with the Peppers and Onions)?

    Friday funny..

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) A diehard White Sox fan amuses himself by scaring every Cubs fan he sees strutting down the street in their obnoxious Cubs shirts. He swerves his van as if to hit them, and then swerves back just missing them. One day, while driving along, he saw a priest. He thought he would do a good deed, so he pulled over and asked the priest "Where are you going Father?" "I'm going to give mass at St. Francis Church, about 2 miles down the road," replied the priest. "Climb in Father! I'll give you a lift!" said the man. The priest climbed into the rear passenger seat, and they continued down the road. Suddenly, the driver saw a Cubs fan walking down the road, and he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back into the road just in time. Even though he was certain that he had missed he guy, he still heard a loud "THUD." Not understanding where the noise came from, he glanced back in his mirrors but still didn't see anything. He then remembered the priest and he turned to the priest and said "Sorry Father, I almost hit that Cubs fan." "That's okay," replied the priest, "I got him with the door." Great joke steff
  10. QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) Truer words have never been spoken. Seriously...a dog without ketchup is just not very good to me. I could care less what others do, but I've had ketchup and mustard on my dog since I was a kid and thats the way it tastes good. Chili can be a nice treat though. I'm more of a brat guy though.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) Agreed on Shelton, he's going to be a star. Way to go Pitt. Seriously, you could see him not being protected on a good team, but how in the hell did the Pirates (a team thats used Daryl Ward, Randal Simon and tons of other lousy first baseman) not have room to protect a guy like Shelton. Than again a lot of times it is the bad teams that can get a bit hurt in the Rule V since they typically have so many prospects (of course most of them end up failing and thats why they remain bad).
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) Gagne has always, always thrown hard. I'm not exactly sure where you got that the only threw 92. With the Dodgers Gagne was a 92-95 guy as a starter. When he moved to the pen he went to 95-98. However, that type of increase in velocity isn't unheard of. Lots of starters hold things in reserve since they have to throw 6 or 7 innings and 100 or so pitches. As a reliever you can go 100% every pitch and because of that converted starters tend to see a jump in velocity. And as far as Gagne being a small guy, he was never small. I can see the speculation over steroids, but as you say Rowand, it can't possibly be a clear cut case.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) I'm afraid to go to another game with Brian and Steve. Everything was going well, we're 1 and 0 and then they show up for the next two games. You feel bad...I fly into Chicago and end up seeing teams swept. I know one thing though...I did my job, 3-0 in the playoffs last year and well over .500 in the regular season. I say if we see a losing series, they get stuck with the bill
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) The problem is...in a few years, the oil market may very well leave him no choice. Demand for oil is not going to stop increasing. India, China and the U.S. all keep wanting more, and there simply isn't any more cheap oil to be found. Not in the amounts needed. The one good piece of news I think we can give him is that oil is unlikely to really go past about $125-$150 or so a barrel even when Saudi Arabia really starts to decline, simply because there are other oil sources that become profitable at roughly that level; heavier oils that cost more and take more energy to refine, oil/tar sands, etc. (Of course, the problem with all of those is that they're vastly more polluting that normal Light Sweet Crude, so even though that should put a max on the price, it's still time to really find something to replace the stuff.) I personally have been very surprised that the U.S. economy has managed to survive the first step upwards, from $20-$30 a barrel oil to $60-$70 a barrel. I'm not sure it can do that again. I think we are getting closer to the time when Hybrid technology becomes a financial savings to consumers. By that I mean where the price of buying a hybrid car becomes worth it in terms of the gas you save. As that happens (and they continue to make strides and they continue to release new hybrid cars) we will see people still driving the same all while using vastly more efficient cars, meaning we may actually be able to decrease our demand on Petro. But thats just the short-mid range solution as we still need to figure out a new source, but its not going to be super easy as once it is developed and considered safe and backed by all the auto manufacters and everyone else, you then need to completely overhaul gas stations. Its going to be a process I'm sure.
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:28 AM) but we just found out jason is going to be there. He's raking in the money from these ads. You guys wait at the Uni and I'll drive from Cali, swing on by Ill (yell Hawkeyes rule) continue driving past and than finish up my 48 HR drive into Cincy. I'll be flying into Louisville, but Boz and I will be there. Hell it should be kind of fun. I'll even make sure to grow out some sort of facial hair, just cause seeing you smile is priceless
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) That and the NIMBY crowd... alright I'm not cool with my political slan...what the hell is a NIMBY
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Oh way to go Brian, you planned the exact same trip as Jason. :headshake Now were destined to see the Sox get swept.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) Tipping at DQ would be the same as tipping at McDonald's. It's pretty much just a fast-food restaurant right? The one near me even has a drive-thru. Tying in the ice cream thead, Cold Stone Creamery usually has a tip jar and if you put a dollar in they'll sing a little song. But I thought we solved that in the ice cream thread...Cold Stone = over-rated
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) I think overall I'd take the Indians offense over Detroits. Individually Detroit has one hell of an offense as you've noted but last year they couldn't get a clutch hit to save their lives. They had one problem last year...attitude and you can bet your ass that with Leyland there those guys are going to be playing hard. Leyland isn't going to take any guff and I think he's going to get the best out of those guys. Plus Chris Shelton...good god what a rule V pick that was. On a sidenote I watched part of the Tigers game yesterday and Fabio Castro got hit up a bit.
  20. I freaking LOVE Pedro. The guy has balls on the mound. Plus he slapped up Zim That has to be one of the funniest things in baseball history. Plus in his prime he's the best I've ever seen. Didn't have the best career of any pitcher, but in his hay day he was as dominate as anyone. You basically knew each and every start you'd see something special out of him.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I still have doubts on their offense. Weren't they the team with the least walks last season or something like that (having guys like Pudge who only had 10 BB's hardly helps)? Doubts about there offense. Pudge, Dmitri, Shelton, Carlos Guillen, Polanco, Maggs, Inge Those are all pretty darn good hitters and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone else. Maggs is looking like his old self too, which will make them even better. This is the best offensive team in the AL Central and one of the best in baseball. I've said that since day 1 too and they will prove just that. If they can get Verlander to develop into a front line guy to go with Bondy as well as get Zumaya developed into what he thinks he can be, than they can use guys like Maroth, Ledezma, etc in the back of the rotation and have a good staff (in a year or two). They do need to improve that pen.
  22. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) Really? I was pretty surprised to see him in W-S to start with such limited experience. I'll have to ask around a little, but the kid must have spent some time as an OF'er earlier in his career (i.e. prior to playing professionaly in Japan as strictly a pitcher). The guy has Chris Young type pop from what I have heard. That small-guy-big-power thing that is so rare. Again, will be REAL interesting to see him play. Hopefully will get to see him play when they are in Frederick or Wilmington at the end of April and early May. I'm gonna just miss the Warthogs when I am in Myrtle Beach in May too. Leaving the day before they come to town for the week. Dumb planning of the vacation time. Could have mixed the golf with the baseball pretty well if I had known the schedule earlier. Haha. Ya, I heard a few people suggest to me he could have started higher, but at the same time you have to think it would make no sense. HE may be really talented, but he still hasn't faced this level of competition ever in his career. The Sox saw enough to give him a 200 or 300 K bonus (I forget which) but thats pretty much 3rd round money. I look forward to seeing him play and I bet he'll be one of those guys thats fun to watch at BP (considering how he's got one of those live bats). I think Chris Young is a good comparison. And by Chris Young I'm referring to the Young of a few years ago who had all the potential but still had to pan out (obviously Young hasn't panned out as a MLBer, but he did pan out to become one of the better prospects in the game). I think Whisler goes today Randy. We'll get to see how he does this year when healthy. I'm more excited to see what Lummy can do. He really pitched well this spring and mentally he's such a confident guy with great mound presence.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Cinny should be fun..... :puke You guys are going to be at the Great American park too. Ahh f*** and to think i was going to get away from you all
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) So Crude Oil inventories are up. But the price for crude is higher? At what point is our government going to come in and force some of these oil companies who control the production and distribution of a necessary product for our security and economy to actually build the refineries we need to increase capacity? Last I checked environmentalist were preventing us from building more refineries.
  25. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) Well the Las Vegas 51's that replaced them didn't fare too well, but the group that started the year as starters would have run away with that division. Plus we were that same kind of story early in the season. People doubted the Sox would hold on and now we have a world series ring in our banner. And yes, that Dodger team would have owned the division. This one would too, but it will never stay healthy (hell 3 days into the season its already falling apart for them). I just want to say, that I may end up being wrong, but I so called the Tigers being a vastly improved team and one that everyone is overlooking in our podcast. They don't have the pitching staff to do it in the end, but they have one damn good offense and a good manager.
