White Sox Tickets...
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) Bold prediction here... The Sox break the 3 million fan barrier for the first time in franchise history in 2006. Whoa...you all laughed at me when I suggested that a while back. But I hope were right Mike.

Far Out Idea
I know he stunk it up as a starter, but the guy is tough to actually hit (gives up less than a hit an inning and has done that consistently at the major league level). He has had a problem with walks, but what would everyone think about picking him up on the cheap and using him as the 2nd lefty in the pen as well as a potential long arm. Ishii supposedly has a pretty rubber arm, although I have no idea why he only appeared in 19 games last year (I'm guessing it must have been an injury, that or its because he stunk so much). He's just 31 and really doesnt' have bad stuff. He gets a good # of k's, limits hits, but would have to improve control. Could a move to the pen help that?

Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) And Weaver declined it. Weaver is a good pitcher. He's better than Washburn imo. Although his numbers wouldn't show it. The Dodgers are definately going to need to find themselves another starter, so thats just a matter of time, but they may wait and move a starter or two.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) As long as Henry doesn't come over on a regular basis.. I think we'll be fine here.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) You should be shot for displaying that. You have to be happy Steff. MVP Willie has been replaced by Team Borchard.

Wille Harris & Timo Perez=Gone
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Ozuna knows how to slap the ball and take advantage of his speed. He also knows he's not a home run hitter. Willie never did learn how to take advantage of his speed (which I still claim that he's not as fast as people think he is). As a matter of fact, I'd bet that Ozuna is faster than Willie. Ozuna may be faster than Pods. The guy is lightning quick.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Oh well, they won't be able to get any items like this from the Cubs since they never win a damn thing. ROFL Boz. I love the new avie and member title combo.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) HC's has sports stuff on the walls of all sports and all teams. I don't see the big deal. They got pretty good grub too. I went there a few years ago and I got to admit, I thought it was a pretty cool place.

Who was the last prospect that panned out?
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) royce ring was delt for robbie alomar right? yikes, there's a not so good kenny move. id consider it better if it was the first time alomar came to the sox, but i dont remember. Yes, he was dealt. Ring had been nothing, but has shown some signs of improvement now that he's dropped his arm angle.

Garland for prospects ? ? ? ?
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) The Dodgers are maxing out their payroll now too. Not sure they'd be willing to take on Garland's big salary at this point but who knows. They first need to move Odalis Perez, than I think you'll see them make a move at a starter. Did they offer Weaver arbitration?

Adam Eaton to Rangers
QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) If the Rangers are willing to give up that much for Eaton and Otsuka, we should be able to get Josh Rupe (starter in '07), CJ Wilson (left out of the bullpen in '06) and Ian Kinsler (utility 2B/SS in '07 when we let Ozuna walk) for Jon Garland. Kinsler can take over for Tadahito in '08 or battle it out with Getz if he is ready. I puke at that offer. That would be a terrible deal, imo.

Nip/Tuck S3 Ep11
QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Hmm.. they removed the pics from their site... J.. what did you do...?!?!?!? I deleted them from here. Lol, them removing the pics may just mean we know exactly who it is. My guess is they are both in cahoots.

Adam Eaton to Rangers
Just wanted to point out that Eaton is 27, while Young is 26. Its not a huge age difference. The big problem with Eaton is injury issues. I think the Pads made this move for Gonzalez and obviously the Rangers want to bolster there staff and they must think Eaton is going to be healthy (and obviously they've really bolstered the pen). It does look to me like the Rangers gave up quite a bit though.

Adam Eaton to Rangers
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I see how the addition of Otsuka helps the Rangers' bullpen but how does trading a talented young pitcher for another pitcher of similar quality help their rotation? And Young could be better than Eaton eventually. I don't get it. Eaton at this stage of the game (when healthy) is a better pitcher than Young, imo. However, long term Young will probably be the better of the two. Otsuka was a stud in the pen.

Adam Eaton to Rangers
Thats an interesting deal. Young's got some solid stuff and we know a lot of people love Adrian Gonzalez as a prospect. Rangers get two solid major league guys in return. Sledge is supposed to be pretty solid as well.

How are these threads Lined up...
Its because Comcast has been replaying the games and some people are posting some of the results. Ie, someone made a most when the replay showed the ball go under Graffy's leg. I'm sure Iguchi hitting a homer will be posted shortly, lol.

Nip/Tuck S3 Ep11
They are pictures with Quentin holding the knife and carver costume. One of the pictures has him and the female police officer (her holding the knife) and him in the carver outfit (as if they were doing it together). I hope they are just putting that out to make people think thast it, otherwise I'm gonna be bummed cause I've lost the surprise.

Contreras News
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) I agree Contreras would. But with Garland, it's useless giving him the desired amount (>11mil) he'll seek without adding years. Many years. Williams' move to acquire Vazquez isn't exactly a bargain except for the few amount of years he'll be under contract. It's probably Williams attention to avoid long term deals--which Garland will surely receive. For that reason, as I was trying to convince Fathom, it's important to have atleast one replacement available for a worst case scenario of Contreras/Garland leaving. I think we'll be set, but Garland isn't going to sign anything less than a 5 yr deal, imo. The Sox don't like giving out long term deals and I think the reason Kenny got Vazquez is because the Sox know they got his rights for the next 3 years (which isn't too bad at all). They find themselves in a good shape and if they resign one of the two they'll be in real good shape. Would Garland take a 5yr 60 mill deal, he just may (although on the open market he'd get more), but I can't see the Sox offering him that. I could see them waiting a year and if he pitches well, go out and offer that sort of contact (the sox would also have to have a strong season). But thats still only if they have an open spot at that point. It'll be interesting, but I really can't see Garland taking a 3 yr deal. Unless its 3 yr 39 mill (maybe he'd go for it). The Sox aren't going to offer it either.

Contreras News
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) You might have been able to sign Garland or Contreras for the amount Vazquez will earn, but I doubt Garland (in particular) would accept a two year deal for 22 million. Not even three years for 33 million would likely be enough. Perhaps Contreras would; so it may have been Williams intention to replace Vazquez with Garland. We have Vazquez under our control for possibly three years. I think Contreras would if you had a 3rd year option in there (maybe even one that kicked in if he threw 200 innings the next two years). I think you could do some sort of 2 yr extension worth 22 mill and than a 3rd year that could push the total package to 3yr 33 (that automatically hits if he throws a certain number of innings).

Contreras News
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) No, but if we start trading them away in the offseason before their last season, it just seems like we're going to be hurting our MLB team that season. I'm a much bigger fan of just playing with your players, and if you're doing well, try to win the whole f'n thing. If your season isn't going well, then trade the player for prospects. However, don't keep using the prospects as chips to trade for high-priced players. The reason for that is that those players are going to be in the same situations that Garland and Contreras are currently in, so we're just as likely to start trading them if they don't want to sign extensions. BTW, this really isn't that big of a deal right now. I think we'll eventually get Contreras signed to a 2 year deal with a player option, but there wasn't a chance in hell that Contreras and his agent agreed to the first proposal. What was the 1st proposal?
