  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I still think Andre Woolridge was VASTLY underrated, and am consistently surprised not to see him playing in the NBA. I go back to the Gamble/Armstrong/Marble teams.... I recently ran into Wade Lookingbill. THE GREAT WADE LOOKINGBILL! -- The MSU game after Chris Street died was pretty special too. Woolridge was a good player. I can remember him giving it his total all in the tourney one year and the Hawks just fell short. I obviously wasn't well knowledged than but I always wondered what happened to him (I figure he played in Europe or something) because he was a pretty darn good player and just after him Iowa ended up having Ricky Davis (if only we could have kept him more than one year). Hell for all I know Ricky Davis was there the same time as Woolridge (in fact I thought maybe Woolridge's last year was Davis only year at Iowa). Edit: I just got off my butt and looked it up and Woolridge is playing overseas.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Jason how long you been an Iowa fan? How far back do you go with Hawkeye Hoops? Earliest I can remember is the days of Woolridge playing the guard position. I definately remember the Jeff Settles years (bad back got him in) and they had guys like Kent McCausland, Ryan Bowen (NBA guy). I can't quite tell you what year that was, but I'd have to say I've been following them for 10 years. That said, I don't get too many games televised out here (luckily I've been able to see 3 already this year) and I'm not one that really follows recruiting (so best I can do is watch the games and see what they do). Iowa is the sole college basketball team I route for (I'll pull for Arizona in the pac 10 and I've liked the Zags since there 1st tourney run...I happened to see them play twice, it was a tourney Iowa was also in and there fans were totally awesome).
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) You see no reason to believe he'll be an injury prone pitcher? 4 or 5 trips to the DL before the age of 25 is plenty of reason. I put some of that blame on Baker, however, some of those trips were totally fluke injuries (getting smacked by a baseball, etc.). That said he puts little stress on his arm and the only reason he's had any of the problems he's had is because Baker is a total dips*** when it comes to managing his staff (I was busy saying this the year the Cubs were a few outs shy of making the world series and I guaranteed that half of there rotation would end up being on the DL most of the season). He still pitched 166 innings this past year and has a 200 inning season under his belt. Simply put, if we think AJ Burnett just signed a fat contract, imagine what Prior would get on the FA market. I'm thinking 13-15 mill a year for 5. But if the Phils get Prior they would be getting him at well under market value while if Abreu were to become a FA today he'd probably make right around what he's getting now (if not a little less). Plus pitching >>> hitting and Prior is not even in his prime (Abreu is right at the end of his prime).
  4. I'm assuming its the same guy that I'm thinking of that I like. Morning radio show on ESPN around 7 (well on the west coast). I listen to it in the car and he's really damn good (despite these comments).
  5. Its funny, he's actually my favorite radio guy. He does an excellent job on his show and usually is really good and putting up differing perspectives (my guess is this is taken out of context, or semi jokingly but I wasn't listening to the show at the time).
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) I don't think so. It would be pretty even. The problem with the Cubs is that they can't depend on their other starters so they have to keep whoever they have and hope they don't get hurt. A healthy Prior (and I see no reason to believe he'll be an injury prone pitcher; I could be wrong though) for an older, highly paid Abreu would be absolutely foolish. Prior can be a perennial (and has already proven he can be) Cy Young candidate, plus he makes a whole lot less money. That doesn't even go on to mention that he's quite a bit younger (just getting ready to enter his prime) and well a really good pitcher is a lot tougher to find than a good hitter.
  7. Game set match. Iowa f***ing blows it and they lose because they couldn't f***ing rebound.
  8. Holy f***...so NIU made the 1st freethrow and than missed the 2nd only to get another f***ing offensive board. What the f*** Iowa, get some damn rebounds. Luckily Brunner hit the 3 after 2 more made free throws but they are putting this upon themselves. Hopefully they get lucky and send this to double OT, but I doubt it.
  9. I should just add that is f***ing pathetic by Iowa. They gave up 2 offensive rebounds in the possession and NIU finally hit a 3 to take a 2 point lead (it was the 3rd 3 they attempted of the posession).
  10. f*** NIU is up by 2 and they have the ball with 26 seconds left.
  11. Alex can you tell me what happened to Horner? Did it look serious?
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) want Anthony Webster back Jas? He's available. You mean the can't miss stud that we gave up for Carl Everett (Part 1)
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) I love the instate games in the state of Iowa. I know a lot of Illinois State people like the system. You able to watch Jas? UNI has looked good down low. Iowa 38, Northern Iowa 38, 13:59 No, I don't have the game, but I know Iowa is losing. I have a gametracker up and am looking at it ocassionally when I take a break from reading my government acctg book.
  14. 36-35 early in the 2nd half. Iowa is just clining to the lead against a team that usually plays them tough.

    eBay feedback...

As a seller I typically leave feedback when I receive payment As a buyer I leave Feedback when I receive the good and it is as expected I always figure the seller is the 1st to leave feedback. I rarely use Ebay anymore, but just recently (thanks to packing up and getting ready for a move) I've found some stuff I don't use anymore and have gotten rid of it. Ebay was a much better place to buy stuff a few years back, but you are able to get more money for stuff you sell now (since they have such a widespread reach).
  16. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) Look at the SB's as well. He's a complete player. Prior for Abreu straight up would be fair. The Cubs would be getting fleeced, imo.
  17. I think this was a good hire. Grady Little is a good baseball guy and I thought he got the shaft unfairly in Boston (although it worked well for them since they won the Series the next year).
  18. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Jim Daniels got me hooked on Fox Sports Radio. That man and he crew were awesome but when he left, I listened to less and less and now I only listen late Saturday nights but on the FSR affilate in my area, they carry Rush at 11 am, so when Id wake up I heard a bit of him. I didnt really like his program. He made for a great alarm clock. Hear his voice, roll out ofbed as quick as possible. lol But, now I listen to National Public Radio/Minnesota Public Radio most of the time Jim Daniels used to do the night show right? Like late nights? If that was him and I think it was (he had a few other guys usually) it was a really entertaining show.
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) His AA numbers were pretty good. He doesn't have much power but if he plays decent defense at 3B and 2B, he might not be that bad to take a flier on. I'd rather have a guy with potential like Howard on our roster than Timo Perez. We will not make a Rule V selection (at the major league level). Howard and Timo aren't even a consideration because Timo wouldn't be taking Howard's roster spot. Point is, good Rule V players come from good teams (teams like the Sox, Angels) that have a lot of talent at the major league level and don't have room to get them on the 40 man roster. That problem doesn't happen with bad teams and thats why you see the better teams typically lose a bunch of guys in the Rule V draft (and usually they go to horrid teams). If this Howard guy was as good as some of you are implying, the Reds would have put him on the 40. The Reds obviously are taking a risk, but my guess is they either dont' think he'll be picked or don't think that highly of him to begin with. For example...Fabio Castro >>> Howard (Castro is a guy that may get snagged from the Sox system).
  20. Sox aren't going to take someone in the Rule V (not at the major league level).
  21. Book a flight out to AZ if its at all possible Tony. You could get whatever auto you want there, plus you get to enjoy great weather and you get a quick early baseball fix.
  22. Thanks for the updates. Its really appreciated.
