  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) You can't be serious. You just cant. Don't tell the Sox how they can and can't celebrate. Don't tell me how I can and can't celebrate. If the Sox clinch the wild card I'll sit back, grab a beer, maybe smoke a cigar and relax the rest of the regular season. If they win the division great, if not, who cares, the focus will be on the playoffs. Ask the Angels...they aren't worried about home field advantage..Scioscia wants to get the team ready for the post-season and if they get homefield eventually than so be it.
  2. If I were the Tigers I'd milk the bottom half of the inning.
  3. Well those of you wanted him to hit it somewhere other than short got there wish. But another opportunity squandered. Anyone want to tell me the past 10 days what the Sox % of converting with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs? I'm guessing 15% or so.
  4. I will cry if they have a 3-1 lead and the game doesn't get past the 5th. CRY I tell you
  5. Now Aaron...grounder to short would be just fine right now.
  6. Nice...thtas really nice. Now please...don't let the rain come till the Tigers go down in the 5th.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Why hasn't Dye been given the chance to hit 3rd? To be honest, I don't know. I still don't mind sliding Guchi right now. Back to back singles with 1 out. Problem is the dead part of the lineup is up. Everett an than Aaron. I think Ozzie doesn't want to go crazy. Part of him has to be thinking its just a matter of time. No team can continue to be this much worse when runners are on as opposed to runners are off. Usually things even out statistically and the team will get hot for a period with runners on and play a little above ourselves. Hopefully thats just around the corner and the Sox can figure out a way to muster out 2 more wins between now and than.
  8. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) who's worse right now? Rowand? Everett? Pierzynski? my ranking: 1. Ev 2. ARow 3. AJ Thats hard...I'd probably say EVerett, AJ, Aaron but I think they equally suck at this point in time. What makes matters worse is that none of them have a clue how to draw a walk or work a count.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) AJP trying to pull the outside changeup. He should be batting 8th, and not 3rd. AJP has been rather disappointing during the stretch run also. I expected more intensity out of him. Problem is the Sox don't have anyone that can hit 8th. Pick your poison all 3 of the candidates suck right now (AJP, Everett, Rowand) and they can't all hit 8th.
  10. QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Your what hurts? An idiot is an idiot is an idiot. So I'm an idiot?
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) I actually think he won't be fired, but he'll quit after this season. It definitely seems like a possibility he could go after the Marlins job when it opens. I wouldn't blame him, as the Chicago media is pretty harsh. Rofl...you guys are crazy. Chicago is his dream job, despite him being a little frustrated. Hell, I don't really blame him. This team lacks a big time run producer to join Konerko and they are paying for it. Not his fault Aaron, EVerett, and AJ are in HORRID funks.
  12. Nice...the Tigers have been taking notes about the Sox.
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) First you must start with the GM; who wants to win.. and knows how to build a successful organiztion.. Then the manager will follow. LOL, no GM wants to win more than Kenny. The guy wants nothing but a world series ring. Anything less is garbage to him.
  14. I'm not near ready to fire Ozzie. Not at all. It ain't his fault this offense can't hit. Sure he's done some things bad from the x's and o's stand point but he's done a lot of good in the clubhouse.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) You don't celebrate a Wild Card clincher if you are still in 1st place...that would be morbidly stupid of the Sox to do. f*** that...playoffs is the playoffs. You don't get an extra prize for winning the world series and the division.
  16. All I know is this, if I were a GM, I'd think long and hard about hiring DJ as a manager. I've long thought he'd be an exceptional candidate. I know a lot of you hate him, but the guy knew how to play the game (he wasn't great) and he's always talking about the suttle things he was taught that the Sox aren't doing.
  17. QUOTE(PWSox87 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Do teams celebrate or whatever for clinching the wildcard? I'd celebrate. I don't care what the Sox do as long as they get in and I'm not the White Sox, but Ill be going crazy.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) f*** you Pods. This is getting f***ign ridiculous...a lot of teams stuggle with RISP...but this is not f***ing struggling. This has nothing to do with basehits. It has everything to do with putting a ball in play and giving the guys a shot to score. I'm talking about groundouts that score a run, sac flies, etc. f*** singles...if this team had 3 Sac flies they'd have 3 more wins this past 7 days.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) I couldn't agree more, but do you think Ozzie would really do that? No, he's going to go down with the guys who got him to this point. I can't necessarily blame him for it. Afterall if he went down using Gload and Anderson people everywhere would be whining about how he didn't go with the guys that got him there. Obviously a manager shouldn't take the fans into account, but right now I'd be hard pressed to continue putting those guys out there. I just think a day off mentally would be real helpful. Of course with this reasoning I think if the Sox find a way to get in, you'll see the bats totally explode early in the post-season. I think these guys are mentally exhausted. I don't know if any of you have been a part of a winning team that had a long funk, but the longer it gets the more and more you press and its got to be even worse when you have shot as going down as one of the biggest choke jobs in the history. Its easy to say you will ignore it, but its like most things, easier said than done (like all of us yapping at Sox hitters to go opposite field).
  20. I'm feeling more and more ready to call Ozzie up and tell him to DH Ozuna and let him play everyday in the 2 hole with Iguchi sliding to the 3 spot. Infield single for him and now he should be running.
  21. Shocker...Rowand grounds out to CF. I wouldn't mind going crazy and giving Rowand a day off with Anderson or Borch in CF and Everett a day off with Gload or Borch DH'ing.
  22. Did DJ and Hawk say they have about 2 hrs till the rain comes?
  23. QUOTE(Wiredawg1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) I don't want to start an argument here, but this whole situation as an Indians fan makes me want to puke. The Sox have a golden oppritunity against probably the second worst team in the AL right now to lock this thing down and they lay two eggs in a row. And the Tribe gets stuck with the scrapiest team since the break in their next to last series. If I was a Sox fan right now (with all due respect) i'd be disgusted. These guys have got about as much chance of getting out of the first round as a AA club. They'll probably make it to the dance, but IMO they flat ass don't deserve to. At the same time you guys had umteen games against Kansas City while the Sox were playing some pretty strong foes. Stuff happens. We played those teams at different points of the season. I am disgusted as a Sox fan, but I can't forget how they got it to this point in the first place (ie first place).
  24. Sox better get some runs cause the last thing I want to do is see the staff get mutilated in a double dip tomorrow. Offense needs to put up a couple runs too. What inning is it now...top of the 4th right?
