I'm not near ready to fire Ozzie. Not at all. It ain't his fault this offense can't hit. Sure he's done some things bad from the x's and o's stand point but he's done a lot of good in the clubhouse.

If the Sox win and Indians, NY or Red Sox lose
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) You don't celebrate a Wild Card clincher if you are still in 1st place...that would be morbidly stupid of the Sox to do. f*** that...playoffs is the playoffs. You don't get an extra prize for winning the world series and the division.

All I know is this, if I were a GM, I'd think long and hard about hiring DJ as a manager. I've long thought he'd be an exceptional candidate. I know a lot of you hate him, but the guy knew how to play the game (he wasn't great) and he's always talking about the suttle things he was taught that the Sox aren't doing.

QUOTE(PWSox87 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Do teams celebrate or whatever for clinching the wildcard? I'd celebrate. I don't care what the Sox do as long as they get in and I'm not the White Sox, but Ill be going crazy.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) f*** you Pods. This is getting f***ign ridiculous...a lot of teams stuggle with RISP...but this is not f***ing struggling. This has nothing to do with basehits. It has everything to do with putting a ball in play and giving the guys a shot to score. I'm talking about groundouts that score a run, sac flies, etc. f*** singles...if this team had 3 Sac flies they'd have 3 more wins this past 7 days.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) I couldn't agree more, but do you think Ozzie would really do that? No, he's going to go down with the guys who got him to this point. I can't necessarily blame him for it. Afterall if he went down using Gload and Anderson people everywhere would be whining about how he didn't go with the guys that got him there. Obviously a manager shouldn't take the fans into account, but right now I'd be hard pressed to continue putting those guys out there. I just think a day off mentally would be real helpful. Of course with this reasoning I think if the Sox find a way to get in, you'll see the bats totally explode early in the post-season. I think these guys are mentally exhausted. I don't know if any of you have been a part of a winning team that had a long funk, but the longer it gets the more and more you press and its got to be even worse when you have shot as going down as one of the biggest choke jobs in the history. Its easy to say you will ignore it, but its like most things, easier said than done (like all of us yapping at Sox hitters to go opposite field).

I'm feeling more and more ready to call Ozzie up and tell him to DH Ozuna and let him play everyday in the 2 hole with Iguchi sliding to the 3 spot. Infield single for him and now he should be running.

Shocker...Rowand grounds out to CF. I wouldn't mind going crazy and giving Rowand a day off with Anderson or Borch in CF and Everett a day off with Gload or Borch DH'ing.

If the Sox win and Indians, NY or Red Sox lose
QUOTE(Wiredawg1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) I don't want to start an argument here, but this whole situation as an Indians fan makes me want to puke. The Sox have a golden oppritunity against probably the second worst team in the AL right now to lock this thing down and they lay two eggs in a row. And the Tribe gets stuck with the scrapiest team since the break in their next to last series. If I was a Sox fan right now (with all due respect) i'd be disgusted. These guys have got about as much chance of getting out of the first round as a AA club. They'll probably make it to the dance, but IMO they flat ass don't deserve to. At the same time you guys had umteen games against Kansas City while the Sox were playing some pretty strong foes. Stuff happens. We played those teams at different points of the season. I am disgusted as a Sox fan, but I can't forget how they got it to this point in the first place (ie first place).

Sox better get some runs cause the last thing I want to do is see the staff get mutilated in a double dip tomorrow. Offense needs to put up a couple runs too. What inning is it now...top of the 4th right?

Notice DJ. He's not making any excuses about the Sox offense, especially as of late. He's flat out blaming the Sox offense for a lack of execution.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) BTW, on the pregame tonight, Ozzie talked about how great Carl swung the bat last night. I guess two routine singles in the hole = scolding the ball. Well compared to what he'd been doing it was like scolding the ball. Its better than Aaron or AJ have done lately.

In the Sox defense (I know they don't deserve it) Pablo killed the ball with 1 out and a runner on 3rd (just right to Polanco who barely caught it) and than Uribe was robbed of a homer. I think snb or someone mentioned that they were robbed of one in the 1st as well??

QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) i hope no one actually believes that this team will play any different than they are right now in the playoffs. I totally believe they will. If they somehow get in, they will get a huge huge burdon off there head and be able to relax a bit (I know I know, playoffs, you don't thinka bout relaxing). However right now all they can think about is not choking. They find a way to get in, it'll be like a fresh new start and they'll be able to have fun and stop worrying. EVeryone's written the club off anyway.

AJ, Carl, Rowand are all terrible lately. You can't do much when you can pitch around most every run producer in the lineup. I wouldn't give Paulie anything in this count.

HE's onto 2nd. I think he'd of had a shot on that play. I'd let him steal 3rd right here. I have no problem if he gets gunned down trying to create some offense. Team is having enough trouble as is.

You're the GM: White Sox edition

You're the GM: White Sox edition
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) Both Thome and Delgado at a MINIMUM will be on the market... perhaps Helton as well? With PK a free agent and Kevin Millar out there, there are 1st base options in the market... Ya, I am pretty muhc convinced Carlos will be moved. His contract like triples this season to around 12 million a year (they really backended the deal and the 1st year was extremely cheap the rest of relatively pricey) and there is no way the Marlins can afford that. Especially when they will have to find a starter to replace AJ. Delgado can be had and should probably be one of the first options the Sox look at. He's carried offenses before, is left handed, and is a total machine. Would be a great addition to this offense.

Sox farm system
I'm going to just say one short thing in here. Sox are a top 8 organization, imo. Problem is a lot of it is at lower levels and they may not receieve that grade for another year. However, they got a lot on the horizon.
