NFL 2021 offseason thread
So if Wilson really plays hardball and sticks to that list - the good news is - no one is dangling a top 5 type of 1st round pick and no team has massive cap space. In fact - if I look at the Saints - they are in a pretty tough spot so I don't know how they could actually get the cap in a position to add Wilson and they certainly have no more assets than the Bears. The Cowboys would seem to be the big wildcard - they have Dak - so that might take them out of the bidding. However, that also could make them the more lucrative partner as Seahawks could get a franchise QB back in Dak (presuming franchise and trade type of deal) plus maybe other picks. Oakland has a QB it can offer too - Carr - but similarly - they don't have a ton of stocked assets in terms of picks and their 1st round pick (17) is just 3 picks better than Bears - so not a huge difference. Honestly - if, big if - Wilson were to keep his list this tight and force the Seahawks hand - the Bears would seemingly be in as good of a position, if not better than most of the other competitors. If Wilson would expand his list to other teams - that probably quickly dissapates to point where others could and probably would offer more (i.e., Miami).

I presume the price is going to be on par with all the other suggestions around Watson. So the price will be expensive and reality is Bears only chance is Wilson narrowing the market and forcing the Seahawks hand a bit.

That call was terrible. Bulls did everything they could with turnovers to try and not win the game. That said - man that offense is fun to watch. Such a quiet 35 from Zach - dude is just picking his spots and making it look so easy right now. He should have had 40 - just a travesty how few foul calls he gets. Every night there are at least a few plays a game he gets hacked with no call - not some weak hack - a big hack. Needed this one cause bulls schedule gets real tough next.

Has there been any update on how the studies have been going on the vaccine for kids? I know everything there was delayed with way lower take-ups, etc but hadn't seen anything in past few weeks.

Yeah - Wilson has a lot of those ad-lib plays that make him look like he can be a special player when things break-down. Level of competition he played against was pretty weak though...but he definitely has a lot of those WTF (in a good way) throws.

Very good points. Can't argue those and I should caveat - I would also take Lawrence over everyone on the board - more stated that I think the rest of the crop has some serious upside too, so pretty deep crop...I also think it is a crop that has some pretty big time bust potential - when you think of the lesser competition a lot of these guys played with (Lance / Wilson), or their inability to read defenses and react as quickly against good defenses (Fields), and overall lack of athleticism (Jones).

Incredibly well deserved - just stellar job by Zach. Hope it is the first of many!

I get it - but my point is - we are moderating to have it die down. People coming to this thread want to see news and discussion on the team - not 3 months of beating dead horse arguments. Those aren't for here and if people don't intend to rules they will be suspended.

So sometimes my app would kind of stall and I learned I had to like restart the app. For my tv you just hold the power button a bit longer or do a force close on the specific app. That would do the trick. I think my tv has the android tv (not sure which one your tv runs on) - but maybe that helps. But other than the ocassional refreshes - which would happen when you turn on the app (for me it is an android issue and not mlb cause it happens with my Disney plus and prime too) - the app worked amazing last year (my first year using it from a smart tv cause my other 2 TVs in our house are super old and non smart :).

Yeah - you can use chrome cast to do it or presumably Apple TV. Kind of depends on what you have. If you have a smart TVs - you can just use the app on their. I use all of the above depending on device I’m watching. One tv is smart while the other two have fire sticks where I just use the app. But if I’m at a friends or my parents - they have chrome and I can just cast using that and get a game on if I want it.

One other point on Jones - I actually agree with him a lot on Lawrence. It feels like he has been so annoited that people are ignoring his other short-comings. In particular - tall QB's just don't have a great track record in the NFL. Tend to get long, mechanics break down which leads to inconsistencies, etc. If you said take a bet - field or Lawrence on who would be the best QB in this draft - I would bet the field on this (part of that is more credit to the depth of top talent in the field...Wilson, Fields, Lance, Jones - all have their own flaws, but I can see many reasons why any of them become the best QB in this crop...just as I could write a couple bullets on why each would bust).

Badger - I was about to post this as well. It goes to show you just how different various people evaluate QB's. If you think about it - Mahomes was not #1 on most teams boards - but I think the stories are Andy Reid was like in-love with him and I think I heard another report that said Sean Payton was also highly intrigued and that if Chiefs didn't get Mahomes he was going to Payton and Saints. Maybe Mac Jones is that - and June Jones is a pretty innovative guy who obviously knew a thing or two about offense. Whether he is right - who knows and like Russ - I see a guy with a more limited arm and athleticism that makes me question things, but that accuracy and ability to throw guys open is huge. I just don't know how you evaluate that with Jones given the talent he was throwing to at Bama. Trask was always a guy I liked in college - until he faded. I thought he climbed the latter and moved the pocket well, showed good accuracy and seemed to throw guys open - but than there was some regression late and now he's dropping like a rock. Clearly I don't know anything. In all honesty - I think we don't appreciate just how much it is a guess as well as the impact of coaching, etc. I also think a huge dynamic is how guys project and how they get better. What is there ceiling vs. what more can they learn to do. But Drew Brees and Brady are two of the greatest ever - and I would say neither of them were overly athletic and both of them had very "meh" arms, however, both are highly accurate and their ability to move/manipulate the pocket is legendary.

Odds that Jones is there at 20 are probably less than 10 percent. So you may say it is a reach - but at this point seems like he is pretty entrenched as a likely top 15 / top 10 pick.

T-Mo Free MLB TV Sign up March 30th
Yeah - two different sign-ups but same day available. Either way - only thing i wish Tmobile would do is allow you to sign-up earlier - would be great to stream some spring training games too. Its like 77 without a cloud in the sky outside today - really makes me want to be sitting in a ballpark hearing the crack of a bat. My god do I miss that - especially since I'd get out to spring training every year.

Last year it was part of the MLB give-away - however - I have to remind myself that last year's MLB giveaway technically didn't happen until July (isn't that when the MLB season actually got started).

By the way - I should note - since I am so anti Coby White this year - that he had a nice game tonight and beyond that he has looked like a basketball player a bit more on this recent run. I can only hope this is where we start seeing some progress and more consistent flashes. Wendell has also had a couple massive halves , unfortunately both in first half. Would be great to see him convert those into some complete games.

New Orleans wants help cause they are trying to win. They aren’t in spot where they need young players - I think they want good vets who can help them win and help Ingram and Zion take things next level. In many ways Thaddeus and/or Sato are perfect for that and Thaddeus contract is a great deal for next year for any acquiring team. For all those reasons - I also assume Billy would want to keep Thad - but if you can get an asset you like (lonzo) or a first round pick - well you do that. The big reason why Lonzo now is you get to rent before you own and potentially get a chance to see if this team and the parts really are that much better with a real point guard. Advanced analytics could make a case the Coby White might be one of the absolute worst players in the league when you factor in just how much he played and the overall negative value in both his ball chucking / crap point guard play and his horrific d.

Thaddeus Young might be able to get you Ball - but Thaddeus has obviously been a major asset for this squad.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
So when I see efficacy of 99% in terms of preventing death. I want to ask the smart people on here, most notably Balta, to make sure my simple head intreprets it correctly. Note - the below are my own made up #'s for simplicity. But if we had 99% efficacy in terms of preventing death - in my simple head that is comparing death rates with vaccine to normal death rates. So lets just say my sample is 500K or so deaths (roughly the US). Does that essentially mean if we were all vaccinated (and all else being equal that we haven't added another variable that were to change the curve/dynamics) that instead of 500K deaths from COVID - we would essentially be at 5000 deaths (500K x .01%). Or if instead of using raw numbers - I used a death rate of 1.5% for COVID (pre-vaccine) does that mean the 99% would convert my post vaccine death rate to .015% (99%). Again - using simple raw numbers - but wanted to make sure I have the concept applied correctly?

I should point out - I too have been a big proponent of trading down. I don't like to say it is the Patriots way - because the Patriots actual draft record is actually pretty putrid, rather I prefer to call it the Jimmy Johnson way. But just because the Bears haven't done that - doesn't mean I don't support it. I don't know that I would have drafted Love when I did - but if the Packers thought highly enough of him, than you know what - you do it, knowing at some point you have to replace Rodgers (not to mention Rodgers has had his fair share of injuries during his career). My point is - for QB - you trade assets; I probably don't do it for much any other position. I think when it comes to all other positions - when you have similar guys on the board, you move down and accumulate assets knowing the crap shoot that exists so maximize the amount of guys you can get with the higher grades possible.
