Beast - Curious why you think this won't be the best for GOP LT?

2020 Election Thoughts
Said it numerous times - the whole world has implied anyone that votes for Trump is a racist ahole; thus people keep their trump card very close to the chest and it is very difficult to get good data on it. Just like 4 years ago - it continues to look better and better for Trump. In general - not seeing much signs of a blue wave. I don't give a rip about the blue wave - cause I"m not a democrat...but I do care about getting us a blue president. I'd actually prefer a temporary blue wave just so I can get some real stimulus (even if I won't fully agree with the method - our economy needs it and it will only happen with that).

Robert Gold Glove
100% well deserved and hopefully the first of many. Look forward to some MVP's and a HOF career as well Yes - I have very high, yet reasonable expectations of La Pantera

2020 Election Thoughts
For sure - everyone is preparing for the worst - same thing around here, all kinds of stuff being boarded up. Better to plan for the worse. I made sure I had a few extra groceries in case stuff is closed the next few days due to overall unrest.

I'm more optimistic than you - but I might be way off.

Tony La Russa named Manager
I get that it is easy to say the above - but I don't know how a mgr who has accomplished everything he could would just mail in the towel like that and I can't imagine during the interview process these guys didn't talk about players and strategy, if for no other reason I'm sure TLR wanted assurances this team was going to make the necessary investments, etc. This isn't a guy who just had to take a job or something - he has turned down past overtures (allegedly). People don't regularly get to the top without doing something right (not always true) but to have sustained success like he did, implies to me that he isn't afraid of work & hustle, etc. No one hands you something in baseball - maybe in life you can get a big inheritance or whatever else, but the game of baseball is earned...period. If I'm wrong - well it really is the dumpster fire all of you said it is. In fact - it is that and than some, but I'm not going to just assume that (at least not yet). If the season starts and all the players are saying hi for the 1st time...well than I stand corrected. I

I don't get this - he's the manager of the big league team, if you aren't willing to allow him on the radio why would you hire him as your mgr. Doesn't really make sense.

2020 Election Thoughts
Ok - you can say there is a theory that Kamala gets 3.5 years of presidency, but 4 years from now she'll be up for re-election, etc. Similarly, I just assume Biden is a 1 term president but that isn't an issue in my mind cause we can vote for someone else in 4 years.

This. Why do I get the feeling the Sox somehow hire a 2nd mgr this year. I don't know why - I just see it happening.

Not familiar with Longstaff - but like what the Bucks have done. Really like the Mo Cheeks pick up.

2020 Election Thoughts
I’m kind of annoyed everyone is saying the polls are what they are and that Biden is going to win. Worry people aren’t going to vote and next thing you know everyone is in shock and it’s another 4 years.

NFL Thread 2020-2021
Pretty much all game, Aikman was saying what i was saying. I don’t know if that is good or bad...but my wife was in shock that my complaining was being regularly justified by Troy. Mitch needs to be the QB at this point. I can’t justify Foles anymore. Offense has been much worse. I don’t know that Mitch will be better but he at least gives another dimension the defense has to consider.

Yeah - they found a kicker.

NFL Thread 2020-2021
It is very clear that this is true. Foles has had some just awful games and this was very much one of them. And Nagy needs to stop using certain players and just focus on having the best guys on the field period. Graham is not allowed unless it is red zone - Patterson just not allowed period. Etc. I actually was surprised. Oline wasn’t terrible today. They had some bad plays but not near as bad as I expected. Quite a few sacks were on Foles.

Honestly - If I was TLR - I'd literally get on a zoom and just say, you boys like these (and show a hand with 3 rings). I'd wait a second and say - we are about to put some more of these on my fingers and yours. This is an awesome club and you all are going to take things next level. I'm excited to work with all of you and build a coaching staff that will work with you and leverage data and skills, etc, to make you the best players you can be and this team the best team we can be. But remember - winning isn't hard and consistent winning is even harder - this is going to take a ton of work and I know you all are capable and the staff I build is going to push you like hell to be great. Because that is what we are going to be GREAT and I'm going to hold you to that standard and I will hold myself and my coaches to that standard.

Who would you have hired?
And if it wasn't - they completely mismanaged the process to imply that it was a cluster. Or let the media spin get out of control. 100% agree with you. I felt like so many blew up on TLR - the issue here was the fundamental process that they went through.

Buncho Roster Moves: Edwin & GIO gone, Leury Back, others
Leury is pretty solid @ 3.5M. Needs to stay healthy, but nice to have a piece like that who is kind of plug and play and effective. Plus - I think he'd fit in nicely to how TLR likes to use some of his guys.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Do you think Sox have an interest in Willie Harris in a role on TLR's staff? So maybe they met with him for a few different reasons?
-
Tony La Russa named Manager
This is spot on Tony. Spot on. My issue had been everyone jumping on TLR - but the big issue to me is the fundamental process that the org went through. I also find it shocking that TLR hasn't been working the phones since he officially got the role. I'd think he'd be reaching out to the various guys and handle that and I'd think the same around getting that staff built out and at least Tony can give players context on what he thinks the staff will look like and who some of the faces will be.

This irks me - because Bochy and Alomar were my top 2 - I would have been happy with either one of them. I like TLR more than Hinch or Cora.
