Which starter should we get?
Read yesterday that the Angels will consider moving him. It be stupid on their part though because they have Sele and Appier in the rotation who suck, so I think the Angels will hold onto him and if they move him...Cards have been scouting him.

Yanks trade
Did they end up paying a lto of Miceli's contract? I didn't think Miceli made much and if he did I assumed the Yanks would be paying it. Miceli is a solid reliever. They didn't really give up anything.

I was gonna say I swore he played in the middle infield at one point in his career. I was thinking he could move to short or 2nd if Alomar or Jose leaves in the offseason and the Sox don't deal Crede. I forgot the reds had larson. If they plan on playing him at 3rd then I doubt they'd take Crede.

Schoenweiss has pitched awesome out of the pen in releif. He wants to be a starter and in 2001 he pitched more then 200 innings. The problem is the Angels are asking a whole lot for him and the Cards are very interested. I'd rather cheap things out. Plus Schoenweiss has proved nothing as a starter and would be too expensive (Trade Wise) to get as a reliever.

I agree with you on this. I'd rather have Cotts up as the 5th or something along those lines with 2 solid relievers. If Sox could get Williamson and say Stanton or Williamson and Graves or something along those lines you all of a sudden double the arms JM should have trust in, plus JM just got Wunsch back. You'd go from having faith in two guys, to having faith in 5 guys, and you have Koch as the 6th.

Yanks trade
You can never have too many quality relievers.

You don't give up on Crede, period. Schnurstein is in Rookie ball, and it's pretty dumb to assume he'll ever make it to the bigs. I'd take on Williamson, but not Boone. Well I'm saying if its Crede and two decent (none of the top 20) involved then I'd include him. I would like to keep Crede as well. Maybe Sox make that deal and then move PK somewhere else for a starter and have Crede platoon the rest of this year and become the starter again next year (Boone plays everyday between 1st and 3rd). I'm a big fan of Aaron Boone though. Williamson would be awesome. I'd like Williams and a starter or even Williamson and Graves. If Sox aren't gonna add a starter, then why not add two killer relievers. Graves will not be moved, his contract is too big for JR to chew on. Paul Konerko will not, and should not be traded now. He's finally coming around, and trading him for a 5th starter makes no sense at all. The guy was an All-Star last year, and we're trading him so we can five good starters over four? Doesn't make much sense to me. Only reason I throw that out there is because Konerko's contract is huge. I don't know what JR is telling KW in terms of purse strings. But i'd rather have Colon then Konerko. I like Konerko a lot. Honestly I wouldn't change the offense all that much, unless given the chance to get a speedster or a lefty power hitter that draws walks, etc (Giles). Otherwise 5th starter and a reliever are the needs.

To me the Sox can live with Crede. He plays great defense and he will become a very good player. I see him as a very similar player to Scott Rolen. Aaron Boone is also a good player. Boone would be a great pickup this season and I'm sure he'd have value next year if the Sox move him. If Sox can get him without giving up Crede or anything super good (Along with Williamson) then I'd say its a great move to get the two of them. You got to improve the team for this year as best they can and if you get a great offer take it and deal with the conflicts in the offseason. Still add a starter and a reliever or two really good relievers.

What is Boone's contract situation? If we can lock him up for a long term deal than I guess I could accept trading Crede. Just as long as we don't throw in any other top prospects. CWSOX45 3.7 mill this year and he's 30 years old. HIs numbers basically have been getting better each season.

IF Crede is the swinger in this deal I'd give him up. Boone will be able to play 3rd until the Schnur is ready and Boone is already a very good 3rd baseman. I'd say Crede and a prospect or two for those two.

Beane/Moneyball/GM espn poll
I picked the same as the majority with the exception to the GM I wanted (JP Riccardi; Blue Jays GM) and a players ability based on tool. In regards to the players ability based on tools, I like it to be a mix. There is no stat that really rates defense perfectly right now and those rae things you don't get in stats. I think it should be a mix of stats and tools but you don't pay a guy huge money whose yet to prove himself just because he has tools (Not counting draft picks here).

Which starter should we get?
Agreed, Peavy isn't going anywhere unless they get a damn good player in return. Carlos Lee is not a star.

trade for Livian Hernandez
I'd rather see teh Sox have the money to sign and keep the pitching staff in tact then keep Konerko (Who is my favorite player). This would allow Rowand to play more in center (With Everett in Left/DH along with Carlos). Then on certain days Daubbie could play 1st with Thomas DH, etc). Next season the Sox could resign Lee for much less then Konerko makes and I think worse case they put up very similar numbers while the Sox add Jeremy Reed to the outfield.

Ranger Farmhands
Well I guess i'm considered a "minor league freak" but rarely have I complained about who we gave up. Rupe was the only guy who we traded that I really regret giving up simply because I believe the Sox could of got the deal done without including him. That being said all the Sox have given up, minus Ring, have been low level prospects and one AAAer with a very high ERA who was too old to really be considered a prospect anymore (Almonte).

Dick Jauron
Actually seems pretty nice of him. I'm sure a lot of head coaches would of given up crap and all that. Your right though, him saying it nicely would of been the best approach.

Reds Housecleaning
wait a minute here, you are talking about williamson, 27 a right hander 26 saves, a whip of 1.3+ and 1.5 mil a yr sullivan a right hander who is a long rp 6 wins 0 loses 1 bs a whip of 1.3+ 2.8 mil white, a lefty 3 wins 0 loses 0 bs whip of 1.22 and you are worried about losing a lefty in the deal. these guys are pitching now and with some success on the major league level now. in addition they can help us in the next couple of yrs. where those pitchers you mention may be a couple of yrs away if they develop. I agree about not giving up lefties. Why would we want to take on those salaries if we have to give up good prospects. That's not how it works these days. If we're going to take the salaries, they're not going to get good prospects. Agreed Right now under the current economics of the system, if a team takes on salary they'll give up a fringe guy at best unless they are getting a star in return. If they get a player for free and the other team pays most of the salary they will get a solid to great prospect in return (Depending on the player). Considering the Sox didn't add payroll in the first two moves, I'd say they are going to be willing to add a few million this year, but the big question is whether they are willing to add it next year. With Livan Hernandez, Kevin Jarvis and most of the relievers mentioned they have multi year deals that means that they really won't have to give up much cause they would be saving them salary this year and next year or even longer. I'm pretty confident we'll see one trade made, and fairly confident that two more our made. I don't see the Sox adding more then two players unless they also are getting prospects. Sox will add a starting pitcher and/or a reliever.

I'd say right now its around 50% that he'll stay. Offer him a fair deal and I think he'll sign it.

2003 Draft Breakdown: 10-1
haha no, the website. i actually do stuff for it already, like roster and stat pages. good god i can't even imagine proofreading a message board. What is the proper spelling and context of shizzle my nizzle anyway? As far as I know, it can be either "shizzle my nizzle", "shizzle mah nizzle", or "fo' shizzle mah nizzle". Another way of saying "Fer sure, dude!" Either way, I want to hear Hawk say it. Sounds great Spiff...you've been doing awesome with futuresox

Who'd Vote for Me
All I need is 10,000 sigs and I don't have to put up any money to get my name on the recall ballot Or I could get 65 sigs if I can find a campaign contributor to pony up 3500 and I'll be on the ballot. In all honesty, I'd think this would be a great shot for APU to make his run for a government position. Just get citizenship in Cali and fight your way onto radio and tv interviews to get your name out. And no, I wouldn't vote for ya
