  1. From what the Sox have the lineup looks fine from my point of view.
  2. Everett was banged up last year, but this year he's playing very well and has always been one of the more talented players in the majors. Most of the guys in the deal aren't that great in my mind. I still can't say whether the Sox won or lost this deal simply because the trade isn't finalized. Plus, if the Sox get two first rounders out of it plus get Everetts services for a few months for free, then they are definately doing just fine.
  3. I just remember Hawk or DJ mentioning that the number has been worn by two different players lately (Ray and Jimenez and now Everett).
  4. I'd say Carl Everett has a better shot than Frank at winning the award. At this point last season Everett was hitting under .200. Loaiza has to be on pace to win the award.
  5. Gabe Alvarez Named SL Hitter of the Week By Jason Gage July 18, 2003 FutureSox.com For the third week in a row a member of the Barons was named hitter of the week. Two weeks ago Jeremy Reed won the award, and last week catcher Carlos Maldanado won it. This week Gabe Alvarez earned the honor. This is the first time that one team has earned three straight player of the week awards. Alvarez, who plays both first and third base for the Barons, hit .319 with 12 RBI and six runs scored. During that span he had five extra base hits, three of which were homeruns. Alvarez, once a top prospect of the Tigers and Padres, was signed as a free agent in 2003. He was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 2nd round of the 1995 amateur draft. He played parts of three seasons with the Padres and Tigers. With the Barons, Alvarez is second on the team with a .316 AVG. He has 10 HR, and 52 RBI. These numbers earned Alvarez a slot in the Southern League All Star Game.
  6. He looked like a real good athlete when I saw him play in spring training. I remember b*tching to Mario when they brought him in and I was complaining about how useless it was playing a guy like him whose never going to play in the majors again. I was hoping to see Borchard play the whole game or see someone like Harris or someone else in the game over Sanders. Then the two games i saw him play he ripped the ball and played good defense. I wish him the best of luck and if he decides to keep playing (I'm assuming he is still holding onto his dream) then I hope he gets another offer and can find lightening in a bottle and make it back up.
  7. Anthony Sanders Released By Jason Gage July 18, 2003 FutureSox.com Outfielder Anthony Sanders was released by the Charlotte Knights on Friday. Sanders, 29, was hitting .229 with 10 homers and 40 RBI. Sanders has played parts of three seasons in the majors with the Seattle Mariners (2) and Toronto Blue Jays (1). In his thirteen major league games Sanders had 6 hits in twenty five at bats. Sanders was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh round of the 1992 amateur draft. He hit a career high 26 homers in 1997 for Knoxville (AA). The White Sox signed Sanders in the middle of last season and sent him to Charlotte. Last season with the Knights he hit .232 with 6 HR, and 24 RBI. He spent the first half of the 2002 season with Louisville (AAA). Sanders was invited to spring training with the Sox this season.
  8. Man, I hope you don't turn into some goomba and try to run the bases anyway. Although I Must at admit, it would be hillarious to awtch Either way just being at the games should be a blast for ya.
  9. I'd be down with a PK bobblehead if anyone wants to give me one for free
  10. Yep, he's freaking hillarious.
  11. I just hope that they blow this thing up this year and assemble a new style team that will kick butt this year. I know with the right trades of the pieces the Sox have right now, they can get players that will help this team win in a lousy division next year. Cut Payroll, Add Ready Talent, and MLB ready players and sign a few guys in the offseason and this team can be a winner yet again. Plus, even after blowing this team up, the team honestly could still win in this division THIS YEAR.
  12. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Sounds like they are pretty close. I'm guessing a deal will be done in a week or so.
  13. I don't buy that at all. Griffey's injuries were not only freakish, but as a general rule could be attributed to some specific happening. I am not an expert on steroids, but I don't see Griffey as being someone on them. I think the guy has just had an incredible run of bad luck. It does happen. How do you explain the sudden increase in his power numbers? Getting older thats what tends to happen. Look at Garret Anderson for example.
  14. Doesn't Lee catch on ocassions? Anyone know if he could be switched their on a full time basis. I know Lisk is doing good, so why not switch one of them to another team and let them both get playing time. I mean Lee is showing some ability to hit and everyone wants a good hitting catcher. I figure why not, even if the Sox dont' want him if you could develop him, he'd have damn good trade value.
  15. Ya, that gave Hawk and Dj a mighty laugh.
  16. I thought that was nice of the Sox, considering the game was still played.
  17. He has some sort of hand/wrist injury from getting hit with a baseball. They are sitting him for precautionary reasons.
  18. Lol, I'm thinking once you waive a no trade clause thats it. But at this stage in the game I haven't got my legal education I'd think Everett would be open to a trade to a team in contention.
  19. I dunno. Everett is a pretty darn good player and I've been really pleased with him since joining the Sox. I think you could get some good value for him. Also remember if the Sox get compensation for him (If things work out that way) they get 2 first round picks most likely, which to me is way better value then what the Sox gave up.
  20. Yep, him and Everett are very tradeable at this point cause neither of them make anything. Everett could be a good fit in Oakland, but that means dealing with Billy.
  21. The big thing is, the Sox have to offer arbitration to get draft picks and via arbitration players can only take a 20% paycut, meaning the Sox are risking those guys coming back for one year deals at quite a bit of money. Right now I wonder if anyone will give Alomar or Everett close to what they are making. If they get 4 picks for them like they could, then I'd be happy with it.
  22. I think having Wunsch back at the form he was most of this season would be huge. I still like Dave Sanders future in the pen. Opponents don't hit well off him and I think he'll be a sucessful reliever.
  23. Right now I'm gonna just go with the thought if he works on his pitching then he'll be fine. He may not be as good as before, but he'll still be solid. Koch is a battler, has a closers intensity and I still like the guy. He is firey and I think nothing pisses him off more then his performance since joining the Sox. I have to believe he'll pull through this.
  24. I'd definately live with that. I'd really like Posey and Piatkowski if it could happen.
