  1. On the bright side, Bulls might have Wendell and Otto Porter Jr back this week with Lauri just a bit behind.
  2. You can’t say his job is done yet. If that was the case he might as well already be canned (and to be honest...it’s not the worst idea but I think they believe they need to give him the full year and I will at least admit injuries certainly didn’t help Boylen cards). His fate will be sealed pending the bulls playing real well down the stretch.
  3. My presumption is Paxson is moving in to an advisor role, Forman is moving into a lower level role, and new blood will be brought in to run the show. Whether that is BJ Armstrong or someone outside, I don't know (but all reports have indicated Bulls aren't just looking within the family). I still wouldn't be shocked if Pax kept his title but they brought in a new person to run the show. That said, it seems as if Pax will be stepping aside or into a lesser role with a new president and GM. They can than do more evaluation on Gar and company, imo. I would love if they took a run at the Raptors president in a first power play with Michael Reinsdorf at the helm, but I doubt that will happen.

    Fantastic - Congrats!

Jack - I agree with everything said here. You are clearly very intelligent, but I think you need a paradigm shift in your mentality/perspective on certain things. Its amazing what the power of optimism and what a positive must/will do attitude can do. You say everyone would do it if things were that easy...but the reality is...many people don't. Combine smarts with the right attitude and you are already in the 90th percentile.

Jack - Normally when 9 out of 10 people are telling you one thing...you should probably listen. People can be wrong...but when you see everyone have a consistent view, its best to self reflect and think long and hard about what might be your perceived reality vs. actual reality.
  7. The top teams get homefield in that first round, which is a pretty solid advantage (imo). Add in domino of teams being able to pick matchups and I think it is really exciting. I will say a 150 game season sounds better...but I can't have my cake and eat it two in this scenario. In total...this is a big improvement, imo.
  8. Agreed - Plus, if you put aside more like 10-15% of your income towards retirement, someone who makes far less than the $500K you mentioned would be in a position where it would potentially be in there best interest to max out their 401K contribution.
  9. In general, I'd tell someone (as long as they can afford it), contribute the maximum you can to maximize your tax benefit (at a minimum).
  10. I agree with both these points. I'll double down that I love the idea of top seed picking who they want to play. Adds to the entire story, especially when a team picks someone who they think matches up better with them vs. the team with the worst record. That said, I know they won't reduce the # of games...so as a whole, I very much like everything MLB is proposing. Plus top team getting a bye and getting choice of its competitor helps create extra value / incentive to be the top dog.
  11. There was one guy they were talking about who was playing in XFL but was going to be draft eligible, which I thought was interesting. A safety out of West Virginia or something.
  12. I thought I saw some pretty nice plays, but also there was quite a bit of rust. But I chalk part of that up to the fact that there weren't a lot of practices/real training camps so guys are still figuring things out.
  13. I enjoyed the enhanced media coverage. Was nice hearing more instant reaction from players, referees (including the mic'd up voice of the referee who was doing the actual review), as well as more audio from the OC's, etc. It might have been a bit gimmicky at times, but if done right, I could see all of those things showing up in more NFL broadcasts as a way to enhance the viewer experience. In general, I enjoyed the little bit of action I watched across a variety of the games. Whether I keep up with it or not will be hard to say, but they are broadcasting at the right time as there is a total lull in sports right now (especially for people like me who don't follow hockey and more so since my NBA team sucks).
  14. Did anyone watch? What did everyone think?
  15. Can’t wait until they make full blown changes. Injuries are part of the story but they have had way too many opportunities and Boylen has shown he isn’t a good coach.
  16. I wanted porter but Wendell is a good player. White looks like a positionless player though and Lauri turned into a shit this year. Porter is the guy most screwed by Boylen system, IMO.
  17. Freaking awesome. One Soxtalk jacket coming right up haha
  18. It's laughable how the injuries continue to impact Bulls year in year out. Dunn now out for an extended period of time. Either way, front office change is coming in the offseason.
  19. They have been right there of late despite Porter, Lauri and Carter being out. They aren’t good but they have been far more competitive vs last year. And Lavine has been quite good. I didn’t say they were good...just think a lot of people over exaggerate how much they suck.
  20. This team has actually been playing pretty decent, especially given the injuries as of late. Fucking sham Zach wasn’t put in. Should have gotten a pity nod at the very least. Maybe he will be a late add. Zach has been flat out fun to watch and Chandler has had his best few games of his career.
  21. This is probably a stupid assumption, but wouldn’t mass under reporting likely mean that the true mortality rate is much lower (as I presume those who pass away get checked more thoroughly for the actual virus)? I write this as there is one case in my city and here I am coming down with a fever and chills (thanks to my kiddos who repaid all my kindness for taking care of them and staying up late with them by infecting me haha)
  22. Interesting. Paying big money to him. Could be a nice value move (relatively speaking). Seems worth the risk.
  23. This is where I disagree. Sanchez has his limitations, but looking at him as a pure back-up player who can pinch run, be a defensive replacement, and be a spot starter, is completely in line with what you'd see on other competitive teams. Asking Sanchez to be our everyday starter / suber sub who starts 5 out of ever 7 games...okay I get it...but this is not what the Sox would be asking him to do.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if Yolmer told Sox that he wanted one last chance at starting and if he can't make it with Giants and you still have a place, I'd be interested as a late spring training signing to the bench.
