  1. I presume KPMG will be hit very hard over this. The real question I have is how wide spread / prevalent was the use of the information. How widely were they sharing the information and what happened. Ultimately it is leaders at the top, but you had that previously. For KPMG this is the second managing partner in like 5 years to get hit with a big issue. I don't remember if the other one was the audit managing partner or what, but a few years back one of their managing partners was hit for insider trading. Obviously this is not Enron as this is more related to inspection items, so slightly different, but still extremely bad and looks poorly. Guarantee many audit committees will be discussing during their next board meetings, especially those who are audited by KPMG. One big thing to remember is that all of these companies are big though, so 99% of people working and doing and all other things associated are probably fine.
  2. Saladino is flat out a good ball player. No, he is not a great player, but he is a guy that plays winning baseball. Period. I've been saying it for two years. Great fundamentals and a really good defensive player, with an offensive game that keep getting better. He'll never be a great hitter, but when you consider the plus defense and his versatility (plus good base running, etc) and you really should appreciate him. I hope we'll see that his results / performance doesn't sag with extensive playing time this year.
  3. Brutal.
  4. Love it. Now lets beat the Celtics and make them feel like morons for not giving up a ton of Jimmy Buckets!!!
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 05:52 PM) hate to keep comparing him to trout but like trout he strikes out a lot but also walks a lot. He's also fast as hell and that will lead to a high BABIP. Trout didn't strike out at the clip Yoan did at the minor league level. In fact, outside of one season (a couple years into his career, he has pretty much hovered around the 20% metric). Trout is still Trout...but I'm also a bit more old school that I fully believe that the advanced metrics underrate the negative impacts of a strikeout). It's easy to say Trout strikes out a bit, but relative to his plate appearances, the clip is nowhere near the level Moncada has been at.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) How the hell do they assign you a seat if you are the one going to be kicked off an overbooked flight? Why wouldn't it be the last ones to check in? My view is...if you buy a seat, you should be entitled to it (whether you have one assigned or not). To the extent it is overbooked, that is okay, but United needs to continue to increase the offer on "compensation" until people voluntarily exit the aircraft.
  7. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) He bothers me to the extent that he's taking ABs from Davidson, a guy who might still have some upside at the MLB level. Does Davidson actually have more upside then Asche? They are both roughly the same age and Asche had better minor league numbers, especially at the more advanced levels (after getting drafted he flew through Phillies system). You could argue he was rushed and he obviously struggled to hit at the major league level. I recognize Asche had more time spent at the major league level, where he proved what he wasn't capable of. Neither are anything special defensively. I guess I don't view either of them as much different. Davidson had a bit more hype at the point we acquired him, but the Phils saw something in Asche that they liked enough that they tried to give him ample time to earn a major league spot. So quesiton is, do we think Davidson is going to suddenly change from the guy he was in the minors for a long time or do we think a change of scenery and maybe a tweak can change Asche? Asche earned the opportunity based upon his spring performance. Odds are both will suck, but I don't view Davidson as any better gamble then Asche.
  8. Interesting. Deep CB draft...I think we need to draft at least 2 DB's and a TE in this draft (take advantage of the depth at those two positions in this draft).
  9. Homeland really was fantastic this season.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) Have at it... Fantastic.
  11. Beautiful...beautiful...beautiful!!! Don't stop now boys!!!
  12. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Something's very wrong - shields is somehow resembling a professional MLB caliber pitcher here He looked good in spring.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Definitely. Only 3-6 so far this year, and hit a paltry .319/.384/.514 the second half of last year. Seriously...Jose mashed the second half of last year. If anything, I'd say he made adjustments after the league slightly adjusted to him (and that was really him going from really really good to very good and then for second half of last year...back to really really good hitter).
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) First off, if they're setting a rotation with fans in mind, they're playing with fire. I haven't second guessed anything this week- I've first guessed. Today should have been called. The Twins series should have been Shields, Holland, and Gonzalez. Quintana on Tuesday for the Indians home opener. Rotations change...pitching Q on normal rest makes absolute sense. He is the best pitcher on this club and you want to maximize his starts. Lots of teams skip 5th starters early in the season anyway (given the typical early season off-days).
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Homeland is excellent this year. I've always enjoyed it, but I'm liking this season more than the past few. The season finale of The Walking Dead was intense. A well-paced 90 minutes. I agree with you on both. This past episode of Homeland was really good, imo.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 06:59 AM) Chisoxfn called last night. I wasn't at all surprised when I turned the game on in the 3rd quarter last night. Knicks go 3-1 against the Bulls. No intensity in that first half by the Bulls. I don't get it...if you can't get up at this point of the season against all teams...when will you. And they still have games against Philly and the Nets to lose.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) Rick Renteria comes off as exceedingly competent. It stood out immediately to me at spring training how much better of a manager Renteria is then Robin. So much more engaging, etc.
  18. Also...from Cowley (over the weekend) on Gar & Fred:
  19. In other (non bulls news), Paul George put his teammates on blast over the weekend. What a horrible teammate
  20. Some stats on Buckets (that I read elsewhere): Players in the NBA that score more and more efficiently than Jimmy: 8 Players in the NBA that score more than Jimmy and also average more Assists: 7 Players in the NBA with higher Offensive RPM than Jimmy: 7 Players in the NBA with more Offensive Win Shares than Jimmy: 2 Players in the NBA with higher clutch minute impact rating: 1 Usage is at 26% this year (which actually for a star player, is not that high (and goes against the "iso/ballhog" theory). Age: 27 Contract: Bargain
  21. f*** it...lets make the playoffs!!!
  22. Sad that Grimm ended. Wife & I always enjoyed it. Walking Dead was really entertaining too. I didn't see that twist coming.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) Bulls have a cake schedule down the stretch and play the bottom 4 seeds in the east while Atlanta, Indiana, and Miami have much tougher opponents. I'd be shaking my head if they don't get at least a 7 seed. I want to see them play the Raptors in the first round just to see if we can get a 6-7 game series. Then you don't know the Bulls. They play terrible against sub .500 teams. I'd have more faith in them making the playoffs if you told me we played Golden State, San Antonio, Cleveland, Toronto and the Celtics for the remainder of the year, haha. Seriously though..I really would. It's been a couple years since a Bulls team conistently took care of business against sub .500 teams.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) I hope chisoxfn saw that ridiculous Zipser block just now. Was awesome. Yeah, that was awesome. I'm trying to stay quiet about the Bulls...don't want to jinx what they have got going on right now. Even without great shooters, it gives you a glimpse at what Jimmy can be (and what the Bulls can be) when you actually surround Buckets with some shooters. Rondo has been fantastic. I hope they keep this up...cause I want to see playoff basketball.
  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) FOX should put him in the booth immediately, he's going to be a great color man. Agreed. If I were the Sox, I'd try to hire him.
