QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) Let me get this straight, he broke in and slipped something in her drink?? At what point after someone "broke into your house" are you taking a drink? Super fishy. Based upon the case filed...he invited her over to his place and when their, slipped her something in her drink, expecting it to go down at his place. She wasn't interested, took a cab back home, and they followed her to her home and broke in and she has flash memories of what happened and woke up to an awful scene and her roommate (who wasn't home at the time...got home in the AM and their were some people still their...presume Rose wasn't one of them). She also indicates she got a call a month later from one of the people, who was apologetic saying he wasn't aware she was drugged and thought she wanted it (as that is what Rose and his friends do when they are in LA...they find groupies that want to sleep with all of them). Apparently for a long time Rose had wanted her to do things with him and his boys (and I presume since these were messages...their could actually be evidence backing up that stuff). Again, doesn't prove what she is claiming, but even if the rape part isn't true, I presume the other stuff is probably true and is already damning to his image. Her story for why she didn't go to police isn't exactly uncommon (claims to be from a very christian family and was ashamed). One thing that was weird was she indicated a moment where Rose played in a game (2013), which I don't think happened (August 2013). Rose has already admitted they had a relationship and it was non-exclusive.

Yeah...that sounds really bad. No idea what kind of proof exists but I presume she has a lot of the messages that go with that stuff. I was going to say, one reason I would never say never (aside from the fact that we don't know Rose) is that he doesn't exactly strike you as someone who surrounds himself with the best and the brightest. You would think his brother would have been all over him about stuff like this and would be smarter (since he is the cash train). If rose did this, I hope he loses everything and rots in prison.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) I think if there is anything to Orsillo changing Sox, it would be for the radio PBP. Stone leaves, DJ or Farmer to color on TV. I don't think a Red Sox tv guy is going to take a radio job. I would presume he could get another tv job no problem. I could see DJ rejoining the booth with Hawk and a new radio guy but I don't even want to think about Farmer on the TV broadcasts on a regular basis. -
Is Chris Sale the best pitcher that the Sox have ever had?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) Buehrle is one of my all time favorite players. Everything about the guy is exactly what I love about the game of baseball. I think Mark needs about 275 wins to secure a spot in the hall (or at least have a fighting chance). Anything less then that and I think it will be tough for him. He does have world series win, world series save, no hitter, and perfect game on his resume which helps (along with all star game's, etc). 5 time all star, 4 time gold glover (how it isn't more, I have no idea). But he has no cy young awards (best was 5th place) and no 20 win seasons. In fact, the most wins he ever had was 19 and then 3 16 win seasons and 1 15 win season (so 5 seasons out of 14 full seasons where he won at least 15 games). It could become 6 out of 15 as he is just 2 wins away from 15 wins this year. -

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) Let's just say that if any of these rumors come to pass I'll be mighty surprised. Mark If Hawk was on the way out, I just can't see the White Sox approaching him this way (and releasing rumors). I'd think they'd do everything to keep it quiet so that Hawk could say his goodbyes. He may be polarizing but he deserves that. I would expect if the rumors are true, it would be having him replace Stoney (who I think is out) or having him, Hawk and a third person work with Hawk taking more time off (no road games, etc). -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 09:03 AM) Yeah, Mark;s chances for the HOF are directly tied to how long he wants to pitch. He's never had a stand out season, but here he is at 212 wins. If he can make a run at 300, does he make it? If Mark wins 300, I think he's a first ballot hall of famer. I realize in this stat world, wins don't receive the value they once did, but 300 wins is still an extremely impressive accomplishment, especially in this era where starters pitch less and less. I hope Mark makes the hall. Easily my favorite player, for the way he approached the game to the speed at which he pitched. If Manfred wanted to solve baseballs issue with game speed, he'd force every pitcher in baseball to model their approach after Mark. I don't get nostalgic about many guys, but Mark is one of them. A true class act on and off the field and the type of ballplayer you would want your kid to emulate. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) That is what I am saying. There is nothing about a criminal investigation, police involvement etc happening first, instead straight to a lawsuit. Yep. This would appear much different then the Kane case and fact going straight to civil suit makes it even more shady and indicative of a money grab. However, none of us know Rose personally so you never know. I sure hope it isn't true.

Reporter and cameraman shot/killed during live broadcast

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) Well, things just got really disgusting. The NY Daily News newspaper's front page tomorrow is a picture of the gunman's point of view shooting the woman with the caption " EXECUTED, ON LIVE TV" Absolutely disgusting, and whoever approved of this to be the front page needs to be fired immediately. http://www.nydailynews.com It's the NY Daily news. That is what they do. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) There are several helpful guides out there. If you are stopped by police, you have to present your driver's license and your registration at the request of the police officer and they have the right to check your license plate. Anything beyond that is a search of your property that requires consent. You have the right to refuse such a search or to demand that it be conducted at a police station with your lawyer present. Here's a guide from the ACLU. of course, part of the problem is that if you know those rights and follow the rules but happen to, let's say, not be a member of a majority population in this country, the police may respond ina much more hostile manner. You can't refuse the search if they have probable cause (i.e., smell drugs / booze on you or see something in the car seat), right? Or am I incorrect?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) It's all over, folks. We HAVE to get guns off the streets, out of the hands of morons. Can you imagine, these two reporters had to hate getting up to go to work at 6:45 am. Next thing you know they are removed from the planet by some idiot. GUN CONTROL. It must take place in a more aggressive fashion. Our country is not safe with all the mental illnesses out there and medicated people!! I wrote that in anger. Now I want to say I'm so f***ing sad for everybody involved! This shooter kills the two media members?? Awful. And he doesn't shoot the person being interviewed? How awful. Prayers for everybody. I just found out about this and am sad and outraged! Damn. Horrifying. Senseless. The two reporters were going to fricking get married. The cameraman was getting out of the news business. Biggest argument to not remove guns from the streets is then we the people have zero protection from a government / military controlling us. All that said, all the guns in the world wouldn't protect us from our own military. -
I can't judge Fear the Walking Dead yet. The first episode didn't make me want to not watch, but it is so early hard to know where the characters and story are going to go for me to judge any other way.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) This kid needs to be playing every day. Move Garcia to DH and bench LaRoche for the rest of the season. Just my opinion. Mark Agreed - I don't think Tracye is a full time starter, but Sox need to see him get as many bats as possible. It is also key to see just how good he can be defensively. He has the tools to be a starter, but the production hasn't necessarily matched the tools. He is coming to fruition in the right era though (more of a premium on defense / non-hitter's era).

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) But at least with White Sox fans, once the Sox won, making the playoffs wasn't good enough. Now maybe it will be for a little while, but it certainly wasn't in 2008. And if you technically make the playoffs as a WC and bow out after 1 game, is that really considered satisfying? No...I think one wc card game doesn't count. I don't even count that as making the playoffs. The playoffs start with an actual multi-game series. While I was disappointed in 2008, it was still fun. It is hard to consistently make the playoffs, let alone win the series...you really can't do the 2nd with any sort of success if you can't accomplish the first. My view is, build your teams to make the playoffs as much as possible...then see if you get hot. Play the odds in your favor. Best team doesn't always win in baseball, in fact, I'd argue of all major sports, the top team in baseball probably has the lowest correlation rate of winning a title then any other sport. I presume basketball would be the highest percentage followed by football and then hockey. Hockey is probably the closets to baseball. I know one thing...sucking these past few years isn't what I want and I wouldn't want to suck for 10 years just so I have a shot to win once and then suck again. I wouldn't want to be the Marlins...two amazing seasons and a bunch of crap in between.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) I'll take the win. I am always excited when the Sox make the playoffs, and disappointed when they bow out. There is nothing like winning playoff series though, especially the big one. I don't think they would. I think if you consistently contend, you will get fan support. Will they get cranky and will you see some reduction, certainly (look at the 90's Braves and how at times, after years of making the playoffs, fans got complacent wanting / needing more). That said, even those complacent years, they still drew very well. Bottom line, consistent winning is the only true recipe to succeed from an attendance perspective. Sure, some times can succeed anyway, but it takes a very rare situation for a consistent winner to not draw well. And the only real exception I can think of is the Rays, which is point #1 for why they either need a new stadium and / or need to move to another market (not sure that a stadium would do any good). Honestly, if I were MLB and the Sox did all of the things Mark outlined and still couldn't draw, then to be frank, a change would have to be made because that just isn't acceptable. I'll also be honest, I'd probably rather be in the playoffs 10+ times in 20 years (and not win it) then twice in 20 years, but win it once. Bottom line, those other seasons would be miserable and that one season, while amazing, wouldn't make up for the rest. Heck, just look how antsy the entire fanbase is, just 10 years removed from the series. We have been awful the past 3 years and it isn't fun.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) It's literally just a drywall patch - $100? I would be very surprised that a drywall patch would ruin the deal and if it would, you could just pay the 100 bucks. People get petty over a lot of things so you never know, but in general, I don't understand a couple hundred bucks when you are talking about a home, which I would presume is in the hundreds of thousands range. That said, worse case, just say, hey, I took this off and their are some holes, we can have someone come out if you'd like to fix it (really you aren't obligated to but it is probably the right thing to do). They very well might say...don't worry, I'm going to put my flatscreen their anyway.

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) I wish we were able to have that friendly banter. Although I will say its not bad all the time. There are some Cub fan's that I interact with that are cool and level headed about things and arent just looking to get a rise out of sox fans but those are the minority in my world. I mostly just ignore them though. That's cause your too easy to get a rise out of sir. Back in my days, Mario and I could get a rise out of you just by racing.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) All of the Republican candidates insist they'll make that growth rate happen if you vote for them I'd be delusional if I thought Bush's so called 4.5% growth rate was at all possible. It isn't. It is a bunch of non-sense, which is exactly what every president gets elected on. Every president claims if you listen to my plan we'll get some insane historical treatment of some sort. Save jobs...make you richer, blah blah blah.

This cub fascination is such a city of chicago thing. This past weekend I was wearing my Sox shirt (ever since I had kids, when I'm not at work, I usually am wearing either a Sox / Bulls / Bears shirt so my kids can start to like the logo's / mascots (force em into it while they are young, haha) and a guy goes, oh man, I'm so envious of you...getting to know what its like to win a series, hell even see a world series in their lifetime. I respond back, yeah, but I'm envious of you and your team and he goes, don't be, we'll blow it. I learned a long time ago, don't get your hopes up....just watch, Rodon / Fullmer will become aces and you'll have a loaded rotation with Sale / Q and you'll get to the series and the Cubs prospects will end up busting and Lester will tear his arm. We both got a good chuckle out of that and kids respectively said hi to each other. Cubs story and the team is a pretty cool one.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) So to summarize, companies with a lot of exposure to China like Deere, Apple, European luxury goods exporters, anything to do with construction/real estate, raw materials/metals, better to steer away from...but if the US economy is actually growing at 3.5-4% then the bottom of the collapse/overreaction in the US has to be near. You started to see it with the pushback from bottom feeders today. Of course, panic and anxiety is never logical, whether its Dutch tulips, 1929, 1987, 1998, 2001-02, 2007-2009, etc. As FDR famously said, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Who is saying the US economy is growing 3.5 - 4% per year. I've never seen any sort of growth figures that high. That would be insanely strong growth for a country our size. Maybe you and I are thinking of different metrics from a growth perspective?

Good Nik interview. One quote stood out. http://hoopshype.com/2015/08/20/nikola-mir...is-yet-to-come/

Navarro and Dunn would be pretty high up there. Dunn for his performance (combined with his contract) vs. attitude. Navarro for combination of the two. Albert Belle and AJ are the two that make the list if you are looking from opposition perspective (AJ winning).

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) They might have shown interest, but I doubt it was mutual, I bet he'd rather retire than play for these Bears. Fair point.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Does he have anything like in the tank or is Belichick just trolling the Colts again? I was quite surprised Bears didn't sign him or show more interest (given all their injuries at WR).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) Since they're such an exporter and not an importer it's hard to see that even if their bubble does burst, it will move that far out of China. Their bubble bursting could just push prices down even more on Chinese made goods, leading to higher U.S. corporate profits. The U.S. demand for those goods isn't going to go away. Some of the numbers I saw a few weeks ago argued that ~98% of Chinese stocks were owned by Chinese nationals and corporations and that the government has allowed very little foreign investment in those markets. Even major implosions in their stock markets and real estate markets could very well stay confined mostly to China. I am talking about the mega dollars within China that is invested abroad. For example, SoCal Real Estate and other hot real estate markets. Other sectors as well. That is money that China is trying to keep invested in China vs. moving abroad and part of what they have been doing over the past year has been to limit funds leaving the country. The loss in the market and weakening of their currency will impact those people who are trying to buy here (or already have stuff here and now are far less wealthy as they were previously due to their domestic losses...which could spur them to have to sell properties here).
