  1. I'm rooting for the Mets vs. Blue Jays. I'd also be fine with Astros or Royals.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 07:28 AM) I do the same. Really anything Peter Pan related I refer to Hook. I watched that way more than the Disney Peter Pan movie as a kid. Ruuufffioooooooooooooooooooo
  3. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) It's hard not to be bullish with Pace picks at this point. Adams and Goldman look like they're progressing nicely. The first pick is out, though, so I guess we'll see. Who is Adams? Amos? I've been very impressed with Amos, but am not sure who Adams is.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Zach Zaidman ‏@ZachZaidman 1h1 hour ago Rookie C Hroniss Grasu says he took some reps with the first team at #Bears practice today. I hope he turns into a beast of a center. Would be great. I've always felt championships and top teams are built at the lines.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) Since the Guillen's left, he has no source anywhere. He was pretty accurate about a lot of the Bulls stuff and was one of the first to throw it. Cowley is an ass and his style of reporting is terrible, but the other Bulls reporters wouldn't cover anything unless it was positive. And that is pretty typical of JR ran franchises, the media doesn't cover / report anything except for stuff that has been blessed.
  6. On a sidenote, you listen to people talk about Jimmy in practice and it is very clear that he's the alpha and he's anointing this his team. And based upon what other players say, it seems that they understand it is becoming his team. Funny how unlikeable Rose is vs. Pau / Buckets / Noah / Taj. Yet Bulls players clearly and utterly protect Rose so that protection has to mean they think relatively positively of him.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Cowley trying to stir up a Butler/Rose feud saying an ex-teammate claims while the 2 like each other, J G Buckets doesn't respect Rose's work ethic. If it is an ex-teammate and they are talking crap from last season, it can only be Nazr he is talking to, as everyone else is back. From what people describe of Jimmy, only Kobe has his work ethic. My dad's client is Kobe's personal coach and Kobe's workouts are insane. Kobe is insane. Jimmy Buckets reminds me of Kobe...its why I love Buckets so much. Just an insane will to be great and he'll put in all the work possible to get the most out of his body. Butler also seems to have a hilarious personality and is great in front of the mic. He's the anti rose. I'm never worried about what Buckets is going to say is. I hope he takes another step forward this year!!! If he does, he's going to land some mega endorsement deals. Former member of Bulls could be a former coach, right? Someone from Thibbs staff, potentially?
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) What about Dave N Busters? You can grab a drink, eat and let the kids run wild there. Dave N busters has to have some of the worst food on the planet.
  9. I got one rat (it was not a mouse). Not sure if that was the only one or not. Will need a few more days of no activity in my traps (no new messes) before I can claim myself a victor. Also set traps in the attic, where I noticed some rat poop although it could be really old.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) I'd like to see that analysis, just last season OSU, who runs a spread, put 3 rookie OL starters in the NFL including a center. They attributed their easy transition to the preparation they received in their college scheme. Thats part of the basis of my confusion here, I havent seen a blanket "spread" concept being using as a hinderance in OL prep. Ill add ive seen certain schemes focus more on smaller guards and maybe that hurts the transition, but never actual scheme. On a sidenote, I've never heard someone say spread offense makes an olinemen better or would help them transition. Spread linemen might be athletic, depending on scheme they play in, but just think of the nature of the spread offense...you don't have to hold your blocks as long, rush blocking is different and you tend not to rush as much as well. Whole thing is so much different then the general NFL game. Yes, NFL is adding elements of spread offense to its game...the standard pro style offense is still king.
  11. http://triblive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sport...l#axzz3nuGlbyyv Older article with some quotes from the Steelers director of football operations.
  12. http://blog.seattlepi.com/football/2015/05...fl-free-agency/? Their is commentary from Tom Cable, oline coach of the Seahawks (and former Raiders head coach).
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Thats what I dont get. There are many types of spread-based offenses just like there are many kinds of "pro-style" or "west coast." What spread hinders OL development? I'm not an olinemen, but their was a lot of talk recently about how spread offenses are way easier for olinemen and that they don't develop a lot of the critical techniques to block in a more standard pro offense. Not sure if it is pass protecting or run blocking in the set but I'd presume both. Focus points are different and because of it, it has made it far harder to draft players as you aren't able to project how they will block in an NFL system. Can't remember who the main analyst was who was talking about it, but I also saw similar comments in regards to Grasu and how in a spread you really don't deal with leverage and the more technical aspects of blocking.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) I dont see the correlation there. Was not correlating Olin and Grasu in regards to spread...just correlating the two and then adding in that Grasu also had to deal with the spread which supposedly slows your development as well.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) Olin acted like it is a pretty normal thing Supposedly Olin was in a similar position when he came in and was essentially redshirted until he learned that stuff. Different game playing center, especially in a spread offense.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) He could name his job if he went back to college. If Chip was available, he'd basically be the one "realistic" candidate that I'd go for over Kelly. Otherwise unless you are getting a Saban or Meyer, well, I see no reason to move from Kelly.
  17. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) That would be a heck of a parachute considering his continued failure at ND. Personally I think Brian Kelly is an excellent football coach and I hope he doesn't leave ND. They consistently are contending for titles under Kelly. Have they got one, no, but they are right their and while you might like bashing them, they almost beat (with a backup QB) a very good Clemson team on the road. If ND wins out, they are going to the playoffs. I'm not saying they will, cause I don't think they will, but Kelly has done a good job. I've seen enough of teams like Texas or USC struggle to replace what they lost that I'm not one of those people that wants to fire someone cause we think ND should win a title every year. ND getting rid of Kelly would be a bad thing for ND.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) You do understand a block kick is touched by the receiving team. Besides, there are 7 seconds left and no timeouts. Even a bad snap the extra second isn't going to help you. It was dumb of Fox. In OT teams kick on first down all the time. They don't get 4 chances to make them. They get 1. Now a bad snap and they recover, then you're right, but 7 seconds and zero timeouts throws that out the window. I thought our clock management the whole game was really poor. The not calling a time out after the Bears got the sack on 2nd down (to create a 3rd and 25) was just dumb. Bears could have had the ball near midfield with a minute plus on the clock. Also, given we were kicking a 49 yard field goal, I thought our execution to set up to the field goal was weak. We wasted a lot of clock and could have gotten an extra play off.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) If it's a rat, you need to seal up your basement (if you have one) and all exterior cracks. Then, get the poisoned peanuts. They really help. Not putting out any poison (young kids), plus I don't want it to die somewhere. Thankfully we are concrete slab and no basement. Not aware of any exterior cracks (based upon my checking) and my attic looked clean. I really hope when I get home the sucker is dead. I can't sleep knowing I got at least one rodent on the lose in my house. Ah I f***ing hate it.
  20. I think Hawk on a reduced basis will be good for everyone. I always say, I like Hawk, just too much of him gets on my nerves (especially when we were bad). Next question is who will he be in the booth with (isn't Stone's contract up...I presume he is gone). I wonder if we go with a 3 man booth and hire someone full time this year to eventually take over Hawk's full time gig (plus we need to bring the other person in). I'd have to think Brian Anderson would want the job (not sure if he's the guy we want).
  21. All I can say is that I love me some Mark Buehrle. I hope he kicks some ass with the Jays in the post-season. Would be very sad if he isn't on the post-season roster.
  22. Ugh I hate it. I have a f***ing rat or mice in my house. I am hoping it is a rogue one but have had evidence over the weekend and no luck on the traps I set. I can't sleep in peace. And when I say in my house, I'm not talking attic or walls but in it. Wife left garage open a crack and then our entry door as well and something came in when it was open.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 06:45 AM) Do you think it has more to do with the downgrade in talent around him, or are defenses starting to catch up to these types of QBs? IIRC, he made his first start vs. the Bears, and the Bears had no chance against him. Against Jason Cambell and he killed us. Was in Europe for work and woke up for that beatdown. It was awful. I think I was in Austria for that beating.
  24. I have to say, if we could get Acta and another solid coach, I'd be all for it. For whatever reason, I've never thought Harold would be that great of a coach (just too quiet). Of course, I'm totally assuming things here.
  25. 2nd position open on the staff.
