QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) "it evens out" Says who? It's an old saying but there's absolutely no truth behind it. Odds say that no, the breaks/bad calls won't go exactly half and half the entire season. Maybe it comes from the same book that has Hawk's "You win 60 and you lose 60, it's the other 42" stupid saying. You simply can't have replay for a select part of the season unless April wins are worth .5 wins in the standings. And if you are going to argue that it all evens out, there shouldn't be replay in September, either, as that's just part of the "evening out" process, even if it's game 162. 100% agree on this. Put pressure on the managers. They saw the play once, you think they're wrong? Immediately go out and challenge, or sit down and take the result of the play. Given the # of plays that occur over a 162 game season (and that is what we are talking about, individual plays), I would say that it is a statistical anomaly that they would not even themselves over the course of a season. Also, while every game has the same importance, you are managing much different in the final week of the season then you are during the first week of the season or middle of June for that matter. There is a reason. When you are down to the end, you know what you need and have a much more specific target in mind.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 11:24 AM) If he would have refused to sign, they would have paid him $7 million this year under the franchise tag. Then they could have tagged him again next year for $7.7 million. Yep; It most definitely had an impact on things, however, his threat of a hold-out also, likely had an impact which was why he ultimately got paid above the franchise figure, long-term. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) This is why you buy your phones at Best Buy. Also, I'm done with Androids. iPhone 6 will be mine. Wait...I did buy mine at Best Buy. What can I do? Will they replace it and do the warranty stuff for me (if it has been less then 1 yr)?

I'm ready for some football. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) If Rose can be the closer he used to be that wouldn't be the worst lineup in the world. One of the bulls beat guys wondered if they might play Taj on SFs to close out games. Rose-Butler-Taj-Gasol-Noah would be very very interesting. Wouldn't work with some of the faster 3s out there but depending on the matchup I could see it work. If you wanted lock down defense on a taller team, you'd replace Hinrich w/Snell and have Snell / Butler lock up the wings.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) here is a question to those who are more knowledgeable than I with re to snell. is he really a prospect to play or is the bulls stuck with him b/c he was a 1 rounder? I am trying to read up on sports site and I can't get a good feel for his potential. Thibbs has really said lots of good things about him, even last year. Praised his work ethic and how he goes about playing business and likes his defensive potential. This year he's upped his shooting skills (which was something that was supposed to be a relative strong point when he came into the league, but mainly got more confident). Athletic skills are good. I think he's got a chance to be a good rotational player and that we'll see him make strides this year. He had some good games and some pretty bad games when filling in for Deng last year. Got some good experience though.

Congrats!!! -
Ok...now as far as I'm concerned everything is fixed. Let me know if anyone notices anything but it should look the same as before.
-
Should be fixed now. Still messing around with some corrections.
-
Does it work now. Everything looks fine to me.
-
Just turned it on. I think if MLB were to make things interesting, they need to get away from the players pick and do what they need to to ensure the games stars / best power hitters are in it. Or do something cool like last out, you get to use an aluminum bat or something.

Never have I had a phone fail on me. My S4 bricked today. Didn't drop it or anything, was checking my email and screen went green. Turned it off and screen is black. Total goner. Barely 6 months old. Called Samsung so sending it in. I'm sure they'll find some semblance of something that happened to the phone which voided my warranty. Sprint did say they'd get me a replacement for $75, however, I am cheap and want free. Will go back to my old iphone for a week. Not impressed though. I do have an almost 1 year old that plays with the phone from time to time and its been dropped a million times (on carpet) by her but has a tough case and not a scratch on the phone.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) Can you even spend money for Mayo? Don't the Bulls need every dime of Boozer money?? No; You get a TPE for the difference between two players, which works out to slightly more then what Pau Gasol makes, therefor, you S&T Pau Gasol with Lakers for TPE (not sure if the Lakers then get the TPE). You may or may not have to get Lakers help to facilitate this deal. They might do it for nothing as a sign of appreciation for Pau (as the deal doesn't hurt them).
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) Yeah, Mayo is making an inflated $8 million, which is way too much for him if you ask me. Only reason to do it is to get something useful for Boozer. I don't think you spend that money unless you think Mayo will get in shape and be productive.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Bucks are $13 million under the cap. Any chance we can trade Boozer for OJ Mayo? I'd be okay with that. Use the TPE gained in your S&T for Gasol and then you use the MLE on Mirotic and use Hinrich's bird rights to resign him, thus giving you the BAE still. This way you add Mayo (and his contract) + a BAE that could give you a point guard. This sort of creative move would be great, but prepare to give up some picks or something to make it worth the Bucks while (does free up future cap for Bucks while ties down our cap, which doesn't matter). Bulls still stay well below luxury tax but might get in a tough spot when it comes to reinking Butler.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 12:09 PM) Come on, all the games matter and count in the end. If the Sox lose on a terrible call in may that is unreviewable because it is May, and come within one game of getting into the playoffs then you have a problem. Either you do it the whole way, or you dont. This is a "iron out the kinks" season. They need to figure out how to make these calls quicker, especially when it is obvious. No, not really. At least in the final game or two, you know much more what you need, etc. I understand a win is a win but in reality, over 162 games, it evens out, and you know in that last week, what you need to do / don't need to do a lot more (in terms of plausible outcomes / scenarios). I don't want replay under any scenarios but if people are worried about the last week or month or whatever, then just do it then. It is awful and bad calls don't keep you out of the playoffs, not over a 162 game season. In the playoffs, I get it.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) @KCJHoop In Randolph deal, Bulls get draft rights to Milovan Rakovic (who I've never heard of either). Magic get better of Bulls' 2nds in 15 & 16. He's like a 29 year old power forward / center. Presume it is nothing more then a warm body but who knows. Do we have 2 2nd's in both 15 and 16? LOL, Drafted in 2007 by Mavericks.

Didn't see this reported. Shouldn't surprise anyone that we at least reached out to the agent. Silvy@WaddleandSilvy Today's guests: @ramonashelburne 3pm. She reported that the #Bulls met w/ Lebron's agent. @NickFriedell 5pm.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) I don't think that's right, someone said there is still 300k of savings there. So savings so small it barely matters. Maybe true. I didn't do the math, but either way, minimal, just like giving up these 2nd round picks, who cares.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) Yes, but you could have used one of those on a euro player (as denver did) and stash them ala Mirotic. That "savings" was negated by taking back Randolph, whom we then had to use assets to unload his 1.9 million salary. Brutal brutal brutal. Not really. We are talking about two extremely late 2nd round picks here. We aren't talking about even a top 2nd round pick, which still has little value and can be easily bought. This was nothing. In fact, we now have a bit of a trade exemption, which when applied with the rules, would allow us to potentially spend a little something on another wing player.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) Wouldn't the cap hit on 2 1st round picks at 16 and 19 be more expensive than just McDermott's? Not when you factor in the minimum salary for the other roster spot (e.g., we still would have had to have 2 players vs. 1, so Doug McD + minimum cap hold of like 500K > #16 and #19.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Yeah it's just for the cap space. They needed Randolph's salary to sign Gasol/Mirotic. Wouldn't have enough with just the Boozer amnesty. I'm not going to lose sleep over 2nd round draft picks. We could buy a few up with ease this off-season if need be. We also get some form of a TPE for this, so in theory this might actually give some flexibility to use for a small level S&T (maybe even for someone like Jameer Nelson).
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Here is the pile of crap current free agent crop of guards we can try to convince to take the vet min: Udrih, Beno Stuckey, Rodney Sessions, Ramon Rush, Brandon Ridnour, Luke Murry, Toure Moore, E’Twaun Mack, Shelvin (RFA) Johnson, Wesley Douglas, Toney Douglas-Roberts, Chris Crawford, Jordan Brooks, Aaron Brooks, MarShon Henry, Xavier Temple, Garrett What say you, Soxtalk? A few different quality players in there. Sessions / Aaron Brooks are quality. I also like Stuckey quite a bit. Wes Johnson / CDR and others are solid too, but I think if we could get 2 of the better guys on that list (one at SG and another at PG), I would be extremely happy.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) Also, just to be clear, Bulls entered offseason with areas to upgrade, one of which WAS front court depth. That they chose to go pump up FC depth rather than go hard for a guard will be something to judge this team on. And I don't think anyone here has been overhyping McDermott. A certain poster has the tendency to make a fake person to argue with to make their argument more convincing, but it doesn't mean anyone has actually been acting like McDermott will be the 3rd star we were missing. Reason for optimism: For 4 years the bulls have tried plug the spacing issue by signing a "3-point guy". IT really did work pretty well when you had Korver and Deng was hitting reasonable amount of 3s. Then they plugged in Belli. Then MDJ. Point being we've basically had one consistent long range shooter and our spacing is by far the worst i the league. Defenses against us look like a kids soccer game. If Snell has made the leap to become a legitimate 3 and D SG, Dunleavy, McDermott and Mirotic are all legitimate, consistent long range threats. Also losing Boozer, who basically gave up playing inside on O and hung out 15 feet from rim in favor of Gasol really could be an interesting offense. But you can't have everything, and losing Melo derby means the bulls for the 4th straight year are entering season without a 2nd shot creator unless a gift is sent to us. That has been the single biggest killer preventing this team, and it still isn't addressed. But maybe the spacing improving and some semblance of a real derrick rose would be enough. Technically, Pau can create his own shot in the post, much more so then Boozer or anyone else we've ever had could down in the post. Not to the extent he once could but he is extremely nifty and efficient in the paint.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:44 AM) Unstoppable? Jason Richardson didn't play at all last year, only played 33 games in 2012-2013 (and was pretty bad when he did play) and is 33 years old. He may be done. Wroten can't shoot at all so I don't think he is a good fit either. Alec Burks would be a very good get out of Utah. He might be on the outside of a numbers game there.
