QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) Understood. I didn't think it was big enough news to create a new thread. It has like 6 replies and 2 of them are people saying that I should've created a thread. Not really thread worthy I guess. Worse case is there isn't a lot of replies but it at least gets read and people get to see it. When it is stuck in massive threads, information is missed.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 08:38 AM) I can't see the Bulls adding any salary until they know what is up with Melo and Love. Would anyone for a guy averaging less then 4 points a game on like 40% shooting?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) That's all fine and good, but then Micah Johnson has to be more of a Ray Durham clone (who later starts hitting 12-18 homers per year in the second half of his career) at the next level...if he's not going to be like a Pods or Hamilton that will give you 50-75 steals. If your number 1 asset's speed, then you have to use it to affect the outcome of games or your lack of other tools (defense, power, arm, etc.) will always hold you back. I'm talking about minor league steal stats being relatively irrelevant. He could be told not to run very much and then turn it completely back on at the major league level.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) Doron Lamb was waived...I'd love to see the Bulls pick him up to be the backup SG. Why would we want him to be our back-up SG? That looks like an awful idea. I don't know anything other then his stats but why would one of the best teams in the NBA benefit from picking up a guy like this to be our primary back-up at the 2 guard position? Last man on the bench, sure, maybe we can talk but backup.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 05:48 AM) Trade Winds thread was closed. No Catch All Thread. I guess I'll dump this here. Jon Heyman was on with Mully and Abbatacola this morning. He was talking about how he wasn't sure if the White Sox would be sellers because they are only 5.5 back of the 2nd wildcard. He mentioned that teams would be interested in Beckham, Ramirez, Dunn, and Danks. I can't see Rick Hahn standing pat if there's a deal to be made. The Sox have a real chance here to set themselves up nicely for 2015 and 2016. I hope they do the right thing and sell. The White Sox have a better chance at a top 5 pick than they do a playoff berth in my opinion. Create a new thread. That is why there is none of that crap so legit news doesn't get burried.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:57 AM) I'm excited at the prospect of after three years of signing a token shooter, we are possibly going to significantly upgrading our shooting as a team, depending on who we fill out. But man I wish we had drafted Dieng last year, and had some semblance of a backup C for NOah. The nice thing about taj is he can spell the C position on backup centers. Lets be honest here, in this NBA, Taj would be one of the best starting centers in the league (if you wanted him to). There just aren't many very good / dangerous centers.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:51 AM) They offered to replace the food (we declined as we were probably weren't going to eat anymore anyway). They also replaced our drinks, as they had been sitting there as well. For something they didn't do, they did try hard to fix the situation. I hope the other people were asked to leave the premises and a picture was put up to never allow them in again. Good of Chuckie (and agree, unfortunate that they would be in that position but at least they didn't leave you hanging). its kind of like when you order something at a fast food place and then turn around from the counter and drop it. Totally your fault but you hope the employees go, oh, let us replace that for you.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 06:55 AM) We took the kids to Adult Hell aka Chuckie Cheese's for a reward yesterday. After we were done eating the pizza's we ordered, we walked away for a while and watched the kids play. When we came back to our seats after about a half hour, there were people sitting in our seats, eating our pizza. Without saying a word, the one woman pointed at the other woman, and said her sister said she had ordered it, and to eat it before it went stale. That woman just cracked up laughing. Wow is all I can say. I'm speachless. I hope Chuckie Cheese's rectified the situation. What is said is the children are going to see how their parents behave and they can't help but learn from those pathetic habits.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:45 AM) If the roster stays pretty close to intact (ie both Taj and Noah are back), he will be coming off of the bench and playing back ups minutes. That is a good situation to come into, with those guys in front of you. Get your 15-20 minutes at night at the 4/5 and learn the game against two of the hardest workers in basketball during practice. I agree; Even if Bulls don't get Melo, this will be a significantly upgraded team from a year ago, imo. That said, we are getting Melo!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 04:32 AM) https://twitter.com/ussoccer/status/4819274...8313088/photo/1 Here's your excuse to take off the workday from Coach Klinsmann...pretty good stuff, hope there's not a letdown with all the excitement for US Men's soccer...probably the most excitement since 20 years ago. Define letdown? We are the underdogs and were the underdogs. At this point, anything is gravy, but I believe that we will win!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:40 AM) The Bulls need two thing from McDermott. Hit open shots, and not f*** them on defense. I was referring to Nikoli but agree with Doug too. It seems that everyone has this really high expectations for Nik in his rookie year, probably too high and completely unrealistic.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) If his and Dougie McBuckets games can translate into the NBA, this team, even before they add anything else, will be a really fun to watch. People will need to temper expectations. He is still a rookie in this league and will still be very young and raw.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) @blasondamadrid: R.Madrid (1). Mirotic jugó el jueves su último partido con la camiseta del Madrid. Operación NBA en marcha. La próxima semana viaja a EEUU. non-fluent Spanish speaker translation: Mirotic has played his last game for Madrid, and he heads to the USA next week. @blasondamadrid: Real Madrid (2). Como contó Fernando Ruiz (@fernan_ruiz), Mirotic tenía tomada la decisión hace semanas. El club recibirá 2,5 millones. Mirotic had decided this weeks ago. Madrid gets 2.5 million. There are more tweets, but the gist of it is that Mirotic is ready to go to the NBA right now, and he will come pretty much no matter what the Bulls are paying. They had a falling out and the buy-out doesn't have to be paid immediately either, so Bulls could do some unique structuring here. Everyone presumably wondered if the full MLE would even be enough but he'd be a partial MLE, most likely.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Sam is of the belief that Bosh does go somewhere else and Melo becomes a new part of the big 3. I'm okay with that. I think Sam is more wrong then anyone when it comes to having accurate sources at player movement. we'll see though.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) I was reading Sam Smith, and the evaluators he talks to say Bosh isn't nearly as good as he used to be. Granted it is probably still better than most. But he apparently is headed in the wrong direction. If Riley really didn't care about being a huge dick, he would now tell Wade to go scratch and replace him with Melo. To me though, that would be a very bad thing for him to do. I would imagine the 3 are still a package deal. Yeah; If he were to do something like that, pretty good odds they all tell Riley to f*** off. The only one I could see them kicking to the curb is Bosh. Wade / James are just too tight.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 07:22 AM) http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2014/...is-hot-in-june/ Recap posted. Please forgive the cheesy headline. After looking into him, Jacob May is a fascinating prospect. He has good speed, plays a good center field by the accounts I read, and has shown pop. I will be interested to see how he progresses. He has a nice set of tools and has been someone to keep an eye on. Despite his slow start he's made major strides and could have a summer that propels him up the prospect lists.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) There's only one stat to look for with Beck - strikeouts. He'll never cut it if he can't increase the strikeouts significantly Except for the fact that you can't look at minor league stats in a vacuum. It is a league and place you go to develop and often times that means you put certain statistical feats to the side to work on other things. I have no insight to what the Sox plans are and what they are working on but he might be working on other pitches in "strikeout" counts, etc. I'd be more focused on ground ball ratio, WHIP, OPP BAA. Oh and of course his stuff, which is pretty darn good.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) I'm more interested in Micah replicating his good plate discipline at higher levels than steals. Baserunning >steals anyway. Normally as players advance in minors, organizations have them run less (once they have proven themselves) as there are more risks to nagging injuries, etc, and they want to make sure those players (who have legit other tools) are advancing those tools and healthy and able to work on that stuff. Was told that from multiple people back when I spent a few different summers at the various minor league facilities. This included conversations with the Sox minor league coordinator at the time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) I really don't think it is the big 3 anymore. Wade is fading fast. Bosh about to start crumbling. I' m not scurred. I think you are underselling Bosh. Bosh goes anywhere else and he goes back to being a star. You are completely correct about Wade. Unless Wade and Bosh are going to take some massive pay-cuts, Melo isn't going to fit in there. Only way Melo goes to Miami is if he is replacing one of the other members of the "Big 3".

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) Even Haslem opted out. He doesn't make millions off the court like the others. I don't think this is all happening for a rolepleyer upgrade. Lowry + another vet is what will happen. Guarantee you Melo isn't going there. Makes it more important Melo comes to Chicago and then he can f*** his boys up!!!
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) Something VERY BAD is about to happen soon. Yep; The Heat are going to get Lowry plus the big 3.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) Not taking anything away from Chile but I'll be shocked if Brazil makes it to the Final. Haven't lost a competitive international game since 75. I am rooting majorly against them but they have the talent and ability, they have been choppy though. The two teams I can't stand winning are Mexico / Brazil.

On a sidenote, McD's athletic #'s at combine weren't bad at all.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) Nobody is arguing that the Bulls needed a scorer, some people just aren't sure that Dougie can score in the NBA. That I find completely preposterous. He will be able to score in the NBA. If you want to be worried, worry that he can't play D in this league. Maybe in the 80's when you could tackle he wouldn't be able to score but this guy can flat out score. Playing with someone like Rose who will create spacing (+ Melo) will allow plenty of spacing for him to score too.
-
On a sidenote, lets not forget that Thibs coached McDermott during Team USA drills last year so the Bulls really got to spend a lot of time with him (and evaluate him against elite NBA competition). For anyone that thinks there is a huge rift in our front office, this pick would not be indicative of that. Thibs sounded extremely excited about the pick and even talked up McD's defensive game and that he can play D (not sure I believe that or not yet) but don't underestimate that fact pattern too.
