  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) That was after he succeeded at Bowling Green. He did it at 2 places. USC should get a bigger coach than someone who has been a head coach at one place. Dang, the next name I was going to throw out was Brian Kelly (although we don't know what he will due at ND) but he has done it at two places and technically one of them was a BCS conference (even though it shouldn't be).
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) Because Dan Hawkins has massively failed at Colorado and he was the last Boise coach. USC should get someone proven they can win at a BCS school, not Boise. Urban Meyer worked out okay for Florida (coming from Utah).
  3. Del Rio is apparently staying in Jacksonville. Herm Edwards and Mariucci are names now being dropped by USC fans. Why wouldn't USC go hard for Boise State's coach? I personally think the big problem is the looming sanctions are scaring away any top notch coach.
  4. Iowa loses its top corner, Spivey to the draft too. He'll be a nice value pick for a team starting in the late 2nd, imo.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) I'd agree 90%, but I have some concern about the lineup being so RH heavy. Perhaps someone can talk me out of that concern. I think I'd prefer Thome at that money, but I wouldn't be upset about Dye, who I think is likely to rebound. You have Kotsay on the bench for tough righties. Plus I'd rather have a good hitter than a not so good hitter, regardless of having a few too many righties.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) I called him average not a failure. I am not sure he is good enough though to make Seattle a winner. His ability to recruit is his best asset and this means nothing in the NFL. His defensive mind is his best asset. His ability to recruit is #2. Albeit both are abilities are what I would consider elite.
  7. Dye at 3M would look perfect on the southside, imo.
  8. Bears have reportedly not made an offer to Fewell. The Giants reporters are thinking this is a great sign for the Giants chances of getting Fewell. If the Bears miss out here, they will really be taking some PR hits. They've already whiffed on there 1st two choices for OC and Fewell certainly seems like the #1 choice for DC.
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:19 AM) Pete Carroll got great players anually and won one championship. The media loved him and the southern cal thing. I think he is an average coach that will be back in college in a couple of years. USC got all of the hoopla and pagentry but at the end of the day he is nowhere near the coach Saben, Tressell, or Meyer are and that will be eveident very soon. He is an exceptional defensive mind. You guys aren't giving him enough credit and he really didn't fail with the Jets/Patriots. Was he a huge success no, but to call him a failure is inaccurate. The guy is a very good coach.
  10. QUOTE (dadwassoxfan @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) He is at CSN ,College of Souther Nevada at wooden bat leauge. And that is the reason he went this route. My nephew has played with and against him since youth ball. Bryce can play and is a real good kid from a good family. He's going to be one hell of a pro. Welcome aboard!!!
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) I could sit here and explain it to you, but I'll just refer to the head story on Sporting News today. If you don't want to read it, here's the summary- USC will be fine. It's a love/hate thing. We can argue all day long. Obviously, I'm biased because I'm hoping everything is fine. Evidently, you think the NCAA is going to end everything SC has done. Which is fine, but we have to wait and see. I was chatting with my buddy on Saturday (while playing bball) who works in the USC athletic department. He told me that prior to accepting the bowl game for this season (against BC) USC offered the NCAA a 5 year post-season ban (which would have started this year) and a loss of scholarships. That tells me something bad is about to go down. Now maybe the NCAA turned it down because it was too large of an offer but either way making that sort of offer to the NCAA says all I need to know. You keep living in make believe world Brian.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) That's a pretty good apology, about what I'd hope for. Still no ticket to the Hall though, not in my eyes. Sorry Mark. I'm glad you are coming clean and moving on with your life, but your reward should not include enshrinement. I'd let him in and I think it was a real good apology. One of the most honest we've seen, imo.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) He's gonna choose ND. I just hope this lands us Henderson. Its OSU, USC or Fla and only one of those schools kept their head coach. Iowa continues to quietly is hiding behind the scenes, although they were always behind his big three. I think OSU has to be the huge huge favorites. And from what I heard, USC is going to be hit with HUGE HUGE sanctions.
  14. Henderson will probably not be going to USC, which is great news for Iowa and Ohio State who both have chances of getting him. Evidently Ferentz will be meeting with him in the next week. Would be a great pick-up that would make a ton of sense. Close to home for Henderson and a great place to develop as an olineman and ultimately get drafted (see # of recent Ferentz grads on the oline that are starting around the league).
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) He couldn't have come in in any capacity at all? Even run an option or a shovel pass? Nothing? Hell, even a decoy. I know if I was a player on Texas, I'd still feel a bit slighted. And I know for a fact that there are at least a few guys on that team who aren't the biggest McCoy fans right now. It's going to be annoying listening to people suck his dick for a while. Dude, if you can't throw a 7 yard pass there is pretty little value in you. Clearly he can't play.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) I've always hated Texas (their fanbase, mostly), but I've always liked McCoy. Gotta think Gilbert will end up being fine, too. For a while I thought Gilbert was going to commit suicide at the half. He had to be feeling terrible.
  17. Carrol is apparently picking his coaching staff and will be leaving. We'll see if it holds true.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) What does this move have to do with Bates. Carol doesn't even like Bates. I answered that JPN: Makes no sense. We read the Tribune reports and they all say Carrol would be perfectly fine if Bates left, yet he's now trying to have him come to Seattle. WTF.
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) As a Seahawks fan, I'm happy about this development. Plus, Mr. Cutler won't get his Jeremy Bates. What does this move have to do with Bates. Carol doesn't even like Bates.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) In scout circles Stanzi is thought of as a late round draft pick with an NFL back-up future. That is better than McElroy. Yes, Stanzi isn't great, but Iowa has better wide-outs than Bama, a better tight end and a better oline. I'm not saying Iowa wins, but there is no way they get routed by either teams and if they play a good game they might win. IN fact, I think they might win 30% of the times the teams played on a neutral field. I'm specifically talking about Bama. Oh and Iowa also has top special teams and an upper echelon defense. Ingram is a better back than our freshmen, clearly, but Iowa's oline is real f***ing good and has a few pro's playing on it. And clearly I am a homer, but come on, that was a dismal display by both teams. At least Texas had the excuse of not having there star QB.
  21. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) But you can predict my bad luck. But I thought Texas was going to win and they would have.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) That's funny. You want to talk about Alabama's QB but yet mention Iowa? Come on. Alabama may have had a one-dimensional offense but their ground game is very, very good. Their special teams are great and their defense is upper echelon. Ohio State would have given them a game, but I doubt they win. Iowa doesnt keep it within two touchdowns. They just wouldn't score. In scout circles Stanzi is thought of as a late round draft pick with an NFL back-up future. That is better than McElroy. Yes, Stanzi isn't great, but Iowa has better wide-outs than Bama, a better tight end and a better oline. 23. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) You are an idiot. You should have known to take that bet with me last night. You know what a horrific gambler I am...LMAO I can't predict McCoy gets hurt.
  24. Pretty cool...Herbstreit had OSU at #2 and Iowa at #4 in his pre-season 2010 rankings.
