I just love being able to actually watch competitive baseball on TV. I have really missed it. Can't wait for baseball season to start. I keep trying to find a way to switch to direct tv so I can get all the games in HD but I just don't see how financially speaking DirectTV is worth it. To get two hddvr's I got to shell out money, plus we have another hd tv that I'd have to pay 100 bucks for a box and on top of it if anything goes wrong with my equipment I have to pay and the installation isn't going to be near as nice as what I have with cable where my place has all the wires already (since apparently sattelite companies still are too retarded to figure out a way to utilize existing coaxial cables.

I'll be able to tell people for next season, but I won't be out there for another two weeks. I can offer advice on all the other facilities though, with the exception of the Tribe's new stadium.

Pudge would be a great backup against LHP, however, I don't see where he fits because AJ isn't exactly going to handle a reduced load and Pudge isn't going to come here for the same number of ab's that Hall got.

Unbelievable.

Pretty good article.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

Oh and anyone who will tell me how great Forte is, I will tell you that running backs in the NFl are a dime a dozen and potential franchise QB's don't grow on trees. A franchise QB can run your franchise for 12-15 seasons where as a premiere running back and your lucky to get 5-6 real good seasons of production. Bottom line the value of a QB is a s***load higher than the value of a RB (and I love forte). -
All I know is its pretty hard. You'll have to start interviewing like crazy and probably do some amateur scouting or try to get a job in baseball and than get into that route from there. It's a very difficult, unrewarding path though. Take it from someone who had an offer or two to go into scouting, but as much as I love baseball and think it would be fun, I just didn't have the overall faith that I could make it to a position where I could really meet my long-term goals. Don't mean to be a downer, but it's the reality. The other thing I'd do, get your ass to spring training and find some scouts and talk to them (your in florida right?), so go to the grapefruit league and watch the minor league games and get educated (your going to want to talk about guys that impress you and really wow people, imo).

Agreed on Sizemore.

The key for spring is to gain confidence and stay healthy. After that, things change quickly because regular season play isn't even close to spring play. I would definately like to see Quentin get on a little role though.

To be honest, Law is probably one of the worse scouts I've ever read. His analysis tend to be way off, however, scouts in general tend to be much more downers than uppers when talking about people. Law was focusing heavily on the negatives but what interested me was just how much he slammed Danks. Or was I mis-reading something late last night? Oh and the reason Law is one of the worse scouts I've ever read, simple, because not many scouts are writing blogs or analysis. You got to take his stuff for what its worth. He isn't the guy spewing out if everything goes right bulls***, he's basically stating where guys are right now. However, he has a beef with Kenny and is always harsher on White Sox guys and its pretty obvious. I'm not about to go off about how great our system is, because it isn't great, despite what you are hearing from Chicago. However, Its pretty obvious that you have quite a few legit major league young talent knocking on the door, the one problem, I'm not so certain any of them are destine to be stars (of the new group). The thing is they might have found there stars already in Ramirez, Quentin, Danks, Floyd. That said, Viciedo clearly has the shot to be an offensive juggernaut and Beckham could just be a tremendous all around player in the Jeter mold (I know people won't like that comparison, but I went there, Beckham is a ball player).

Nice, Fullertons offense is unreal. They just obliterated #3 A&M 15-5 and in the last 4 games have scored 52 runs and hit 14 home runs. For anyone familiar with Titans baseball, they should know that Fullerton doesn't typically hit hr's and there freshman hitter Ramirez is unreal. The guy is a f***ing manchild. Talk about a potential top 10 pick.

I would trade Matt Forte and Orton for Cutler or Forte and a future 2nd or this years 3rd. I'd probably even go with Forte and our 2nd pick for Cutler. Franchise QB's don't grow on trees. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Because Chris Getz is not a major league shortstop and Nix hasn't played anywhere but 2B since 2001. The thing that stinks is, the Sox could have picked up OC for another year. Obviously it wasn't happening but I'd have been thrilled paying 4M for his production. I think the big problem is the Sox have absolutely no one who really projects as a leadoff hitter on there roster. Hell, Owens might be the best option (if you are looking for a true leadoff hitter) and no that isn't a good thing, its a f***ing awful thing. Beckham is the only guy on the roster, other than Ramirez, capable of being an everyday shortstop. The problem is Ramirez might have some defensive issues as he adjusts. However, I do think that if there is one thing Ozzie knows, it's defense and the shortstop position and I can't see him putting a guy at SS on an everyday basis who will really struggle, so I'm going to hope Ozzie's comments are right and that Ramirez will surprise us all defensively. I'm not doubting that he has the tools, just that there will be a learning curve. I will say this, if Kenny can, now would be the time to dip into those resources and find a way to acquire a starting centerfielder.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) What's the velocity on his fastball? He's got really good movement on it, and that slider is really good as well. If anyone ventures into the college baseball thread I made a couple posts about him. Two or three games ago multiple scouts had him at 101 and 102. The guy is absolutely filthy. -
Pretty good tuesdsay matchup going on in college stations as #3 A&M will go against #6 Fullerton.

Tigers Lose 14,000+ Season Tickets From '08?
Chisoxfn replied to Marty34's topic in The Diamond Club
If they get off to a bad start they are in trouble. Than again, you could say that about the Sox if they have an awful season. -
I loved Neal in 05, the guy was unhittable with that hitch. No one could catch his fastball and he was dominant. HIs arm started hurting and he had to make some mechanical adjustments and unfortunately the deception in his delivery went away and without it he was unable to be successful. I wish Neal nothing but the best and will always remember when he became a member of Soxtalk and went on to be the most productive member in Soxtalk history (thus far). And I say that as him being an open member of Soxtalk (ie, who actually posted).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) He really looks like Liney out there. I dont know about his stuff, but he's deceptive and has good pop. This is off my memory, which isn't as good as it once was thanks to work forcing other s*** into my head, but I believe he was touted as having a pretty good slider to go with that fastball. I haven't seen it today though.

Matt Holliday, Jason Bay, Vladdy (albeit he's older now, still solid), Magglio (option), Dye (option), Ankiel is a pretty damn good crp of FA outfielders.
-
Omogrosso was primarily a reliever in college and the Sox used him in the rotation to try and have him make progress on his secondary stuff. I think we'll see him settle back into a pen role and eventually make the Sox pen. I mentioned it before, but they think pretty highly of him. Mechanically he looks pretty sound and he definately has some nice pop on the FB.
