  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) Top 5 Games: 1) 2-1 win over Tampa where Sale strikes out 15 and Dunn hits 2 run homer 2) Humber perfect game 3) First game of Yankees series where Viciedo hit 3 run homer in 9th 4) First game vs Cubs this year where Konerko got hit, Beckham homered, Wood retired 5) Tigers game where Dunn homers off of Valverde, Reed era as closer begins I'm not sure whether or not there's been 5 games like this in the past 2 years before this year... good list.
  2. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) is it just me, or is the whole Christ Christie schtick of being an enraged fat guy yelling at everyone getting old? It was old before he became governor of a liberal state. Therefore, he must be the best Re-pube-lican ever. He's a right of center Democrat (you know, like the party used to be before the "dirty hippees" took over).
  3. It has very little to do with "party" but all about selfish "what's in it for me".
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) Oil futures fighting $80. Gas futures under $2.60 in front month, down in the $2.20's out a few months. That could indicate sub-$3 gas in the fall. Notice as soon as this happens, we send warships to the Persian Gulf, followed by Iran missle tests. (And note the timing). You would think that W. was president again.
  5. I dunno. /checks under my roof, er I mean bridge...
  6. I wanted to be the b**** that posted post #1 on page 1,000. Could it be?
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) I still do not understand the racial component to it...it doesn't make any sense. It means everyone could carry, why is it only affecting whites? Because whiteys are evil muthafukkas, yo? Damn, I just blew the stereotypes out of the water of this whole 132 page thread.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) If the CBO's estimates are correct, the mandate penalty will raise $25 billion over its first 10 years. And if the CBO's estimates are correct, the cost of this will be trillions over what it was initially. So what.
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Everything I have read (which has been a lot in the last couple of weeks) is saying that between now and next weekend (Jul 6), most should be updated. My ICS update came through this morning, finally.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:14 AM) My Droid Razr was supposed to get ice cream sandwich back in February. Supposedly they're rolling it out this last week, but I still haven't seen any update news. Everything I have read (which has been a lot in the last couple of weeks) is saying that between now and next weekend (Jul 6), most should be updated.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) Okay so due to conflict of interest I think most attorneys would agree a reasonable solution would be to bar former justices from arguing at the Supreme Court level. But even if we were to allow it, Scalia is not exactly an orator. In fact Scalia only had 1 case in 1976 before the Supreme Court. The fact is, if you want to be a rich lawyer, you are not angling to be an academic or judge. If Scalia wanted money, he would have gone into private practice. Most of these judges want power/influence. (edit) There are other options, you can have retention votes etc. I think this is a first, but I agree with your last few posts.
  12. /political whining and rant There's my contribution to this thread. You had to know it was coming, right? Seriously, it's kind of silly.
  13. You really think that's what's going on? Get a clue.
  14. It's your policy, not mine. Keep taking money from the workers and sucking that government teat.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) Corporate profits are at an all time high in this country. Wages are at an all time low. Go Barack!
  16. I'll pay him my negative earnings rate when you factor in cost of living.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 06:29 PM) The Obama Gift Registry? Really? He doesn't give his own kids birthday presents, so instead he wants YOURS. Wow. Just wow. Ask not what your guests can buy for you, ask what they can give to Barak! Who needs a gravy boat, Obama needs more money! Give the jackass your money. He needs it more then you do, in the classic redistribution of wealth realm.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) Man you are just killing your own argument. So if the law doesnt work and there is no incentive to follow the law, should you: A) Blindly keep believing the law will work. B) Change the law. Then why practice law, if all you want to do is not follow it? Hypocrite.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) I'm not sure either...I'm just guessing as to what Kap means... No you're right. Now, if it's said you work on X and we'll pay you Y, then yes, that's an agreement... but you better have it in writing.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) I had a review three months after I was hired and was told I would be getting a raise then. It didn't happen then and the CEO said it would be happening "soon." The wage I make for the work I do is not fair - even the woman I interned for at the agency said I should be making plenty more and she owns her own business. This has nothing to do with an incentive other than them holding true to their word, especially since many people are barely making a living as I have mentioned while others are moving up. It's hard for a customer service rep or person in my "department" (it's only me) to move up when you aren't making them any money like the sales reps are. This company just fired an expecting father and reduced the hours of a senior writer. I am glad to be employed but as I have said before, I am seeking more fulfillment and something more stable (and where I can get paid instead of payment being deferred). That's why I am saying even with funding, I am thinking it's time to move on elsewhere since I don't see my job being my career. The generation Y comment was not thought out well. I don't believe I am entitled to anything, but I do feel confident I could go elsewhere and get a job with a salary and benefits. Hopefully this clarifies things a bit. Yes it does, and I take back what I said on that clarification at least from my standpoint. But listen, you can't ever expect anyone to do anything they say. I've been supposed to get promoted for 2 years. And I just got a new boss. Guess what that means? No promotion. Management doesn't EVER owe you anything. But you do deserve a paycheck, of course you do. Just don't expect any more then that.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) No, I worked to get a degree and I am working to find a job that suits me. I am just saying that A. I go and work each morning and know I don't want to advance and make my career PR and B. how many graduates are working for pennies at a startup as opposed to getting a salary elsewhere? and C. You don't just make promises to your employees to make them work hard and then have them end up not be rewarded. I'm raising a point about empty promises, but I guess it doesn't matter what anyone from generation Y says. It's just shut up, work, make money and if you're fulfilled, then that's fantastic. Oh wait, No one owes you s***, sir. You f***ing earn it. You get handed a piece of paper and expect the world handed to you on a silver platter? You think anyone owes you anything? You better learn about the real world real quick. It's entirely about empty promises.

Hmmm. A case of hand me something because I have a degree and I really don't want to put the time in to earn something... Got it.
  23. If you all think B.H.O. gives a f*** about gays and DREAM babies, you're more delusional then ever.
