QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) But why? cause this is the thread, the thread that never ends, ...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Over a billion dollar this year FWIW. We are getting a tax refund and a pay down of pensions. Which means Mitch Daniels is the evilist governor in the history of governors. He's not redistributing wealth the right way.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) I was just informed by my employer that effective July 1 my time and pay will be cut 25%. A co-worker of mine will also be receiving the same treatment. She, however, is doing TWO peoples worth of work since one of our co-workers is out due to cancer treatments. CLASSY! Real classy! Anyone know of any open IT jobs for someone with 5 years of basic IT experience? Yea, except you'd have to move.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) The AP is reporting 25 dead in Alabama The storms over the last week have been pretty bad.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 08:09 AM) Yeah, how dare the government pay for a census! That's totally unconstitutional! this = federally subsidized cell phones, not the census, you dope.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Why should he have to? No one else ever has and the other document is a valid document for anyone else who has ever had to prove their citizenship (including me). It was silly bulls*** that did not dignify a resoponse. Yet, here we are, today...
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) What you're missing is that we actually gave a real life test to your proposal in 2000. Enough people voted for Ralph Nader to help GWB become President. There are ZERO progressives who won from 2001-2007, and a whole lot who lost. Conservatives win your end-game. Every time. And a whole lot more people die. You just posted the real truth on Democrat thought. In fact, we should just close the thread now...

Hmmm. Well... there goes some ammunition...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 07:53 AM) Finally, a method of taking a census that can quantitatively exclude everyone who is poor, rather than just partially excluding them. Now all we need is a good talking-to about how the poor shouldn't have cell phones/laptops/whatever we've decided they can't afford today. Awesome. But you know all this will be federally subsidized, right? Oh wait, it already is.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) Anyone ever notice the negative correlation between fuel prices and intelligence? Yea. You're exactly right with that observation.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) First time we've had 2 consecutive weeks of 400k+ new unemployment claims since January. This is only the beginning of the double dip. And there's no safety net this time. So, that Chinese bubble better pop pretty soon... oh, but then our prices would go even higher... oops.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) Who cares what people think, people have been on the wrong side of many things. All that matters is what YOU think. If you dont think the US should try and stop Gaddafi from killing people in Libya, you wont support the US involvement. If you do think the US should try and stop Gaddafi, youll support it. I dont care if Im the only American in the world who supports it, its not about what other people think. Quite arrogant, to put it mildly. I seem to recall a hell of a lot of people who were at least as pissy about some excercise in Iraq. And, hmmm, the target seems to keep moving about Iraq/AfPak (thanks, Balta)/Libya, etc...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) So, Tex, has your evening news introduced you to the term "pyrocumulonimbus" yet? It's really, really bad just west of where I live.

I seem to remember an EMP capable bombing raid - which is the first thing you do when you go into somewhere.
-
Satellites have to be somewhat insulated to EMP anyway because they don't have the atmosphere to protect it - i.e. aren't solar flares EMP's? Second, and I do not know if it's totally true, I'm almost positive that there's technology that would fry electric grids, radio waves, and basically all forms of communication virtually dead in seconds.

How many of the losses have the Sox actually been "beaten"?

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) Today counts. ^^ -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Took me a minute but I figured out what the trick is in that plot. The total U.S. GDP and GNP are just over $14 trillion dollars. Take a second and do a Reimann sum (i.e. integrate) that plot. My estimate, with some error, came out that the number totals to $5.5 trillion dollars. Of course you can't balance the budget using taxes when you define 60% of the GDP as untaxable. The reason that peak is where it is, and not shifted strongly to the right, is that most of the income at the upper levels is not counted as income by whatever standard they're using. Furthermore, of course you can't pay for the entire federal budget when you declare that 60% of GDP is untaxable, because when your starting point is So, it's a "trick"... but your "sources" are absolutely unbaised and absulutely truth, as always. Carry on.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) Is McDonalds not doing the 39/49 cent thing this year? Inflation.

So, I saw NKOBBSB tour is coming this summer to a city near you. Is this like cutting your penis with a 1,000 little cuts with a razor blade? How excruciating.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) I thought there was some "technical" reason that a la carte isn't feasible, but I could be making that up. I would love to start me up an a la carte cable company, I feel I'd make billions. No. There's not. Their technical reason is money. Their arguement is that the selection of channels would be totally gone. Which, 95% of them are crap anyway. But the ones that are left, you'd have to pay $60 a month to get to make the programming feasible. The other bulls*** channels actually keep the cost of, say, ESPN, down. (ESPN is the most expensive programming channel out there).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) I'm getting there too. I am totally with you on the reality stuff though. I HATE it. Crusty old bastard,.

Holy smokescreen, batman. My eyes are just killing me. There's so much smoke it looks like fog. Not to mention the 60 mph winds we've had all day blowing these fires around. (yea, Balta, Cali's nothing to this, I know... )

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:04 AM) If a company wanted to steal marketshare quickly, they could offer ala carte cable. I would jump on it so hard. When I was at TWC, they discussed it and discussed it, and we figured out that they would lose money badly, and we knew it. Hello bundles! They'll tell you that you actually save on programming by buying the bundle and that they would have to drive the prices per channel up so much that it wouldn't save you anything.

Okay. It's just to make your logic be right.
