I know... wind driven, pure, wholesome Democrats are always right. Right, right, we know. /next
-
Yup, just like the Tea Party - who uses national funds to roll in the brownshirts. Right. Gotta make sure the "FREE" health care and "FREE" retirements continue. (Which, by the way, there's no easy answer here because these people aren't eligible for retirement like the private sector per se... so it's not as easy as turn it on and turn it off... but to ask to pay into the programs isn't too much to ask, either).

It's as pure as the wind driven snow, ivory soap, busloads of "union soldiers" being bussed in, and Tim Kaine funneling in federal funds to get the DNC message out. We get it, everything's all right fight for what's right in Wisconsin!

Man, those last two posts are technologically um... challenged.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) I know I had a drunken angry post or two on the night he left, but did I ever come off as this insane in my dislike of the last President? Where did I say anything about Barakus the Great? I was talking about Baghdad Bob (Gibbs). And the answer is yes, and you still do.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) I'm not going to get through the full thing today, but here's a "small-book sized" version of 10 essays on the Pentagon budget. Good timing since the President's budget is out today. That's full of s***. You cannot even compare the two like they are trying to, for many, many reasons. It's an apple to oranges comparison. However, I'm sure you know ALL about it, so I won't bother explaining it because no matter how or what I say (even when it's my job to know), you'll know better.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 07:40 AM) That involves pretending that we actually had options. We had options. Otherwise, your blathering idiot propagandist extraordinaire Baghdad Bob wouldn't have been speaking about getting Mubarak out of there.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) My own comments? As of now, probably the best case scenario for the US. It gives them some kind of stability having the military take over, and gives time for other political movements (meaning one that is not the Brotherhood) time to organize. All of the other half-assed rants about how the US is so hypocritical (granted, it is, but that's not my point) are dumb, though. People like to act as if they've known an easier, better answer to Mideast problems all along and almost never know what was done, when, why it was done, and/or how. If it was that easy we'd have world peace already. edit: n/m SS, no I wasn't talking about comments here. I mean Twitter, Facebook, news sites, etc. The people who are generally idiots about everything. Let's put it this way - there's a reason the military is in power right now and not someone else. This is kind of like Pakistan, in a weird sort of way. Let's see where it really ends up. Right now, we're dealing with the evil we know, vs. the evil that we don't know. And bad option A is better then bad option B.

Sox to go with four man rotation to start the season?
kapkomet replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know I'm late to the party and haven't read the thread in its entirety, but if they are trying to go with a four man rotation for a while, it should be obvious that there's an issue. I realize they're doing this to give the Jakester time to get 100% ready, but ugh - "let's start out by going 4 deep" doesn't instill a lot of confidence. -
Ok, but then what happened? /that was too easy

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) Taxes become a pain in the ass when you have several investments, I had something like 76.8 shares of BP (total between 2 accounts) and transferred them to my main brokerage account, ironically to make it easier to keep track of in a single account. You can only transfer full shares of a stock so they cut me a check for the partial share, one was worth $29.96 and the other $19.09 (but they gave it to me in one check). It actually didn't even occur to me at the time that this $50 bucks or so was taxable. So I had to enter those miniscule amounts, and the tax withheld, and THEN find the cost basis, which wasn't even on my 1099. How annoying, I have no f***ing idea what the cost basis is so I had to look up what the cost of BP stock was on the date of the last dividend before I transferred the shares. A friend of mine told me though "as an auditor I'd say you're safe." At least next year, I'll have ONE 1099-DIV and not 3 or 4 like I was doing. Ignorance is not an allowable deduction.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) Here's how: To me that commercial is the perfect example of "middle class" America these days. Debt, debt, debt to keep up. Screw the future, get it now. Fixed. We have to keep spending, or the whole house of cards falls down. What a way to live, from individuals to corporations, to governments. I'm glad the liberals think that this is a good idea.

LOL at everyone jumping on from the "other side". I love the holier then GOP attitude.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) Kap, I didn't want to have an emotional response to what you said so I waited to do so. Keeping it short, I feel that I am doing work and I am willing to do stuff to advance into a career. I have always been torn on what it was that I really wanted to do and am real upset that I can't just pick something to work on. I'm a hard working individual who wants to do something well and be successful. After all, nothing is guaranteed in life. So I wonder what I should do...the themes that I keep coming up with is working towards my strengths: building relationships with people, my writing ability, my desire to help people and do some sort of work that I can be proud of in terms of the results. Career tests can't yield much, so that is why I guess I should just get out there and try different things instead of diving into grad school right away. This is why I have created opportunities and evaluated them. In the economy I can't be picky but I figured I should try and work towards something I can take pride in day in day out. I doubt this will change my image but I felt that I should say something since I didn't want to argue. The reason I get irritated is because what you say is completely contradictory of this, and sounds trite. You can make anything a positive experience if you choose to make it that way, and most of what you post has the attitude that you're above anything that might make you "look bad" or "make you feel like you're wasting your time"... remember that it's how you frame things. Always.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) Someone give me an internship for the summer with something relating to Finance. Thanks. Give? Ok, Beastly.

Nah, it's all good, as long as "middle class internet poster" has what he needs to be "middle class" and keep on rock and rolling... it's what's keeping us alive. Envornmental consequences? Bah. Go live like a cave man, then come post on this message board, otherwise, it's hypocritical as hell. Keep writing the blank checks! BOOOOOOOOOOOOING.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Yes. Honestly, looking at a student who gets an MBA right after undergrad, the first thing people in most businesses will think is... useless to have done that so early. And in fact most high end MBA programs won't even accept people right out of undergrad. Forensic accounting, you have your master's, having trouble getting a job? Look into the FBI. Another place that hire forensic accountants are banks and investment firms (i.e. venture capitalists).

Hey Zach, long time no see. Hope you're doing well.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) I have no purpose in getting my MBA other than the fact that it is a Master's degree and people might look at me over another person. The only other Master's program that my school could get me into is the MOL (Master's of Organizational Leadership), and that appears to be worthless to me as a recent graduate. The only opportunity that this is providing me is to work as an assistant in sports information and the only benefit that it will give me is that it is two years of free education. The problem is that I'm not really interested in any of the courses - yet. And I've been told that going to the same institution that you went for your undergrad is a negative thing. My mindset is geared towards a communications related career (corporate, PR, technical writing, admissions counseling in higher education), but I have told that a Master's in that is worth nothing and the program is a bunch of bulls***. No one will ever be able to tell you anything, will they? Get rid of your idealistic bulls*** attitude and you might, just might, start getting somewhere in your life. You want your whole life handed to you on a silver platter and all the platitudes and goodwill of not having to actually get involved in the mud. Get over yourself. Once you do that, and have a little humility, something might actually work out for you. And don't bother responding, because I don't feel like listening to you get your panties in a wad, nor do I feel like being lectured by a young 20-something punk know-it-all (no offense to those of you that actually work to get something in your life that are a young 20-something).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) The House is expected to pass a bill today that would give President Obama nearly dictatorial control over your private communications and information. Well, you should be all for it.
-
Well, let's put it this way. House GOP - vote every day about killing health care because of the outrageous cost (which is true, but whatever). And then immediately put out a "tough vote" on $32 billion in cuts. GMAFB. Tough choices my ass, and real change my ass. They all can go to hell.

Unemployment is a bulls*** number any way you cut it, unless you want to talk about the U6 #, and even that is skewed heavily.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Off-topic... did you parents get taken care of? Yea, ended up going through IAH instead... but the car was a popcicle when they got back to IND I guess. Two hours to get the ice thin enough to get in the door.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) I cannot imagine what country would export inflation throughout the world with over a trillion dollars of easy money? But who cares stock prices are up. You know, but most here don't have any idea the extent of what you're talking about. I understand it all too well, unfortunately, now that I'm in the line of work that I am.

Um, it's called a food riot. That's what started this whole thing in Tunisia, now Eqypt, etc. People are getting sick of not being able to eat. Funny how that snowballs. I also love the extremely hypocritcal stance from our great leader of the free world when contrasting Iran and Egypt. Allah-meni-f***tard = government's right to excercise authority over one's people. Mubarack = evil dictator who needs to get the f*** out and let the hardcore islamists take over. Egypt2010 = Iran1979.
