Welcome to my campaign for world domination
kapkomet replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
All kidding aside, some of the best threads in this place, besides winning the World Series, of course, is when there is a good exchange of ideas from both sides and where a compromise of those ideas is reached. It's a dang shame that most politicians don't do that. And remember, there's a heck of a lot of people's political careers that started just like this. Don't forget us when you hit the bigtime... -
I just wish he wouldn't have done the ads and just stuck to what he does best... and that is speaking out on behalf of finding a cure for his disease. By doing the ads, he threw himself into a spectacle that should have never been. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that it was planned by the Dems to use MJF, for the very reasons it's doing right now... attention. And that's the part I disagree with.

All joking aside, you are a natural for this sort of thing. You think on your feet well, you always have. That's a good thing to have when you're doing this. Good luck!! We just have to get you out there on the streets knocking on doors. You will win if you do that now because you're gaining respect. -
It was a fun time, that's for sure. And quite honestly, one that none of us could have ever thought would happen until it actually did. Cheer-io, everyone.

Can they not renegotiate the deal(s)? I know that it's frowned upon, and probably will take 700 lawyers, but I bet that behind the scenes this is what would have to happen... because the rumors have been out there for years that when a said player goes to a third team, funny things start happening to these "agreements".

Wow. How will this impact funding? -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) James Webb is still running neck and neck with Senator George Allen (The Macaque guy) in Virginia. But it seems that Sen. Allen is going to be getting one heck of a big hand courtesy of some voting machines. Vote for James H. Jim! And the article says that it effects both candidates... I'm going to start calling you the "Drive By Media"... LMAO.

Campaign and Election Reforms (Finance and other)
kapkomet replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
What is you all's opinions on PAC's? (waits and grabs some popcorn). I'll tell you my thoughts on it in a bit. -
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) He's half black, he's a liberal and he might run for President. Now there's some insight.

I'd like to see a separate thread on this from the great minds of soxtalk - a serious thread on election reform and how we try to fix the problem. The two party system sucks because the real ideas get hijacked by the extremes. It sucks the way it is now, and most Americans are in the middle, figuratively and literally.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) Water is an issue that much of the country is only vaguely aware of. Its of course a huge issue in the most parts of the West. And it will be a larger and larger issue going forward. If the current policies of choosing drilling over water keep occurring, I'll remain convinced that most lawmakers are blissfully ignorant of the problem. I like it. In fact, I personally think voting should be a period of a couple weeks anyway, instead of 1 day. It woudl result in higher turnout, less problems with people not getting to vote, a chance for agencies to shake out any problems with time to spare... lots of positives. Yea, you're right. I'm in the middle on this issue.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) She was standing about 2 feet from me. She reaked of BO and waaayyy too much cheap perfume. :puke Awww come on Steff, she was working hard at campaigning... Your dog probably made her sweat.

Jeff Skilling gets 24 years for Enron fraud.
kapkomet replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
That's true. There were thousands of people wiped out because of these bastards. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Ugh.. Topinka is friends with a looney that lives down the street from us. She visited her a month or so ago and door knocked down our block. I heard her blabbing to the neighbors and she made me ill. She knocked on our door and Ginger tried to bite her when she tried to step into our foyer. She never says anything about what she's going to do and just badmouths everyone else. And she smells. That's the most important part as to why to not vote for her. Go Ginger.

I think it's sort of strange to talk about "early voting". Absentee, ya, I understand. But "early voting"? That's one of the things that they said skewed the exit polling on election day two years ago. Kind of weird, to me.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) When you have the ability to Pardon a prisoner, why bother with that mess? That's a good answer. You aim to please, eh? He would NEVER have gotten pardoned, hence why he's living in Central or South America right about now as Kenethcia Laycia. -

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Unless you die and they suspend your sentence. 24 years for Skilling sounds about right. Where's the conspiracy posts that Cheney got him in the "witness protection" (ahem... ;) ) program the day before he died? -
QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Because she served her whole term, even though everyone said she would run in 2004 despite her pledge to serve the entire term. Kap and I kind of had that discussion on the previous page. I'll be honest, Hillary is perfect for New York, and frankly, FOR NEW YORK, she's done a damn good job. What I mean by that is, her idealism, for the state in general, works. And she's done some things for the state that probably otherwise wouldn't have gotten done. It will seriously be interesting to see how this all plays out. If you believe all the conspiracy crap, Hillary was a done deal for President in 2008 after the 2004 election, but who knows for sure.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) I actually like the Democrat list at this point... just not the current front-runners. Clinton/Kerry/Edwards are all pretty brutal. But I like some of the others, like Bayh, Richardson and Obama, for example. I don't see Hilary as the front-runner. I saw a poll recently that said some large part of the country, something like half, already are "sure" they would vote for her. No way she gets the nod. I hope you're right.

*sigh*

QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) You know, people were saying that when Hillary first took office. . .What bulls***. You're right. She had to wait... I don't know because I'm not in NY, is she saying the same thing this term? Probably not. The Democrat list is going to be brutal this time, I expect a lot of infighting but Hillary is a clear front runner. The Republicans are bumbling idiots, at least at this point, for 2008. 2006.

/rolly Obama and Hillary... "I will serve my full term"... What bulls***.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Nah. If they couldn't coerce him into bowing out he surely wont listen to anything like that. That's pretty naive thinking if you ask me. It's all about power.
-
Yea, but he's a Democrat, save one issue. Anyone want to bet that if Congress ends up 50-50 that Joe gets coerced into becoming a Dem again?
