I'm closing this. But I will say this. #1 - I learned my lesson, I'm not "debating" near as much as I used to. #2 - you all are going to have to fight your own battles because unless it gets REALLY REALLY bad, the mods will not step in anymore. This doesn't give you all free reign to post whatever you want, but, I think the response to what we were trying to do suggests the feeding frenzy format is better. The "clusterf*ck" thread idea is done. Have fun.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) That's bulls*** and you know it. You're basically sitting there and acting as though AP reporters are rubbing their hands together saying "If I call it The President's party, this'll bring down the whole administration!" I hear Democrats complain about media bias. I hear Republicans complain about media bias. In the end, I don't think most media is biased. Just lazy. Hear me out. If the story is sensational enough, it doesn't matter who it is. Tom DeLay is a juicy story because he's a Republican - but according to state law AT THE TIME THE EVENTS OCCURRED, he didn't break any law. Was it bull s***? Yep. Is he slime? Yep. But he's getting dragged through the crapper because he's a Republican. Period. And unlike Tex, who loves DeLay, I don't care for him. But his story definitely proves an example of an agenda.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Just out of curiosity...can you name a Democrat currently accused of the same thing? Oh, they're f***ing SAINTS. We all know that. We'll have to go to some obscure lame ass website, but I'm sure we can dig up s*** if we wanted to spend the time. If they had an "R" behind their name, it would be linked on about 6,000,000,000 mainstream media sites by now. That's the point. Again, these assclowns ALL do it, however, the media is obsessed with making sure the "R"'s are caught first. And no, it doesn't make it right that ANYONE does it, but the "mainstream" media makes sure that the "R"'s are reported first.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Furthermore...know why it was changed? Because one of those "Liberal hate websites" O'Reilly always b****es about...one of the guys doing diaries @ Kos, discovered it, posted it, and it made the rounds on those liberal websites, with each and every one of us laughing as we saw it. Why are we as society so petty about this kind of s***?
-
WHY? God I wish he would land somewhere just so people here would stop talking about him.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) didn't really 'touch' me guess i'm heartless It did me, because this is a little nine year old girl who is really, really angry and hurt. And you can just see it in the words. Plus, it's on the news all over here being a local story. So I guess that's why. Heartless bastard.
-
The purpose it served is that someone got taken out of society that shouldn't have. And by all accounts, it was totally needless to happen. The family has been out in the open expressing their beliefs in the situation. The wife has been out in public asking for simple support. The daughter really doesn't have an understanding of what's just happened. Unfortunately, this will go away, just like every other story like this.
-
I thought the same thing - but also - the letter came from a 9 year old who's hurting pretty bad. How the media got it, I don't know...
-
The guy that shot the police officer said from his jail cell that he thought he was being robbed. Personally, I think it's a bald face lie - he knew he had warrants, and these guys serve them every single day and know how to make their presence known.
-
If this doesn't touch you, you have no heart.
-
This being a local story here, this one's in particular very sad. The circumstances were just abosolutely tragic.
-
It's hard for me to spend $180 on something like that - but - you can't do it once the baby's here.
-
I think we're gonna splurge and get the 4d ultrasound. It's $180. for 30 minutes and they give you a DVD and all sorts of stuff.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) The wife did some major chucking this morning....I felt bad for her, but what can I do?? If I went in there we'd both by chucking. She feels nauseous a lot, but it's only the second time she has been sick. I guess there's a little Chaos inside her... hahahaha Um yea. Mrs. Kap just went through all that. It's better for the most part now - but it will take about 8-10 weeks to get through it, well in your case, 4-6 weeks cause you're getting pretty far along.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) What part of 12Ks and no walks in 34 ABs do you like? Because that's sooooo many AB's to judge him from.

There was a lot of question concerning Thornton right after the lockout ended about being with Boston at all. Both SJC and BOS needed a shakeup - and they both got it. I also think that BOS is clearing cap space to make a bigger trade closer to the deadline if they can get back in the eastern conference race. How 'bout those Rangers?

The johnkerry.com community?

Yea, that makes sense. I just think the way the media is portraying this (TIME TABLE TIME TABLE TIME TABLE TIME TABLE TIME TABLE) sets the table for the "insurgency" to just sit and wait for those dates, and then raise hell to cause a civil war.

Let's see. All people from Fort Wayne, Indiana are dolts. All dolts are from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Therefore, it's a dolt's birthday! Happy Birthday!

For some reason, the GTA thing looks cheesy to me. But there's a lot of you that like it.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) With one week left of classes I am suddenly deluged by students who are missing grades on blackboard or want to protest their grades. They took some of those tests in friggin AUGUST. Oh, and students who won't come to any of my office hours, but won't come to discuss their grades before 8:30 classes or after 4 classes. If it's that important you can drag your ass out of bed 15 minutes early. . .Or hold off on your binge drinking for another 15 minutes. . . What is your masters and/or BA in?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Kap, It's not really about specific timetables for XXX number of troops to leave by a specific date. More like - we want this to have happened by this date. At that point we may move XXX number of troops. The problem is that we don't have a benchmark for success that has been clearly identified. Freedom means what? Victory means what? Our goals in Iraq are nebulous at best, at this point. Our government needs to establish some specific goals and metrics for success. Only when that's been established should be talking about timetables for withdrawal. We haven't identified clearly a step one, let alone a step two or three (drawback of troops, extracting ourselves from the situation) I can respect that viewpoint.
