I now understand what out of town Sox fans
kapkomet replied to Queen Prawn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
wow, that's pretty cheap actually. Dallas' prices for lower arena is 2x this. But, the corporations mostly bought them along with the suites. -
Anyone Heard any good Bulls.....

I heard Michael Jordan was going to get traded to the Washington Wizards for lots of cash and a full arena. Oh wait, that happened a couple of years ago... -
Wow. I'm shocked. He's the one Blackhawk I didn't think they'd trade just due to his competitiveness night in and night out, who teaches the kids heart and what it means to get down in the trenches.

You raise an interesting point, that a lot of people look over. Why don't the Sox make moves? Let's face facts here, folks. Baseball players and agents really have a dislike for the Sox due to the ownership group on the southside. They are dishonest scumbags who really don't care about winning - at least to the point to spend enough money to take care of their players. Now, yes, JR is fighting for that balance, which I can somewhat understand, but you have to remember that this team led a bitter, bitter fight against the players and by in large it will take decades (a new owner) to get that monkey off of this franchises' back.

Aww hell. I'm through with baseball. Nothing ever happens with an unknown pitching staff, injuries, clubhouse egos the size of New York, etc. The Yankmees have an advantage, sure. But lots can happen and usually does. NOTHING could happen that would make the Yankees lose this year. Just look at the Lakers in basketball. They were going to be 82-0 this year because they have 4 of 5 starting that are hall of famer's. THAT's WHY YOU PLAY THE DAMN GAMES. But, I'm through with baseball.

Just so you know, it's on the front page of dallasnews.com that Arod's gone.

Seriously, This deal is NOTHING but keeping the Red Sox from getting him. Here's mud in your eye, Boston!

I heard that Reinsdorf has instructed KW to sign Alex Rodriquez for Home Plate, the Rosin bag, and the White Sox logo for the next 65 years. Jerry was quoted as saying "We want a proven winner. Alex has won every game he's played for the Texas Rangers. Without him, that team would have been 0-162 each of the last 3 years. We want that kind of leadership and talent in the clubhouse this year" Baseball sources confirmed that the White Sox logo was equal in value to the Rodriguez contract, so the baseball players union would not veto this deal. Rosin bag said "I'm sick of Comiskey, er I mean 'the Cell'. All I get is handled by a bunch of sweaty pitchers hands. At least in Texas, no pitchers will be fondling me". Stay tuned for the latest updates on your exclusive late-breaking news for White Sox, er I mean logoless baseball, soxtalk.com. Media contact: Kapkomet Number: 1-800-dialarangerandwhitesox.

Hmmph. It looks remarkably the same out my windows right now. Ahh what the hell. ONE snow a year ain't so bad, especially seeing how it's going to be in the 60's two days from now.

And to think of all those girlie crushes you just broke by getting kicked out. Now why did you have to get all old on us?

oh lord. don't go there. Mr.-John-Deere-Drivin'-Tractors-To-School-To-Get-Through-The-Cowcrap-In-My-Backyard-NonChanging-Clock-Hoosier!

And it's that Irish that gets you in trouble. Temper, temper, temper! Oh no, another stereotype.

Fan, Whatcha gonna do for six weeks while Radek Bonk recovers?
-
That is perfectly said.

Well, Dallas is supposed to get their once a year ice storm this weekend. Should make for an entertaining Valentine's day weekend. Joke: Question: "What's the last thing you hear a texas driver say when snow's flying?" Answer: "Hey y'all, watch THIS!!!" But, remember, March is coming. It'll be 80 in three weeks!

Question for you: Do you think he got into Harvard Business School the same way? I mean, they are 100% against this kind of thing, and always was. Granted, he had the minimal qualifications to get in, but he did meet their requirements and consequently has an MBA. They don't play favorites there, either. In fact Harvard has been known to get rid of "celebrity" students to make a point to NOT tarnish their repuation and history. So, his time was up on old aircraft, they let him go, and he went to school. Again, it all comes back to if these guys were you and me, NONE of this matters, legit reasons for being at guard or not. Adulterous or not. Drunk driving incident or not. NONE of this matters until you open yourself up to run for POTUS. THEN, it all matters. The differentiation is that it seems like Dems are digging up crap from 4 years ago - at least when the whole impeachment thing was over, it was OVER. It would be like four years later bringing up Monica spitting on Clinton's schlong in a different angle. It's OLD. MOVE ON. If the media keeps going on this national guard thing, it will backfire. It's hard, because everyone screws up. And I'm not saying that people have to be saints, but it saddens me that we are all so much into "who cares about the personal, adulterer stuff" when it's a character issue - and character matters. For that reason alone GWB doesn't deserve to be in office either. But you do you pick on a "lesser of two evils" situation? It then goes back to idealology.
-
Fan, This is meant to be in the most nuetral way possible, I promise. But, why should it NOT matter that a person is unethical, immoral, adultrous, etc. when running for POTUS? Everyone's human, but it gets me when people (I'm not trying to label you, I'm really not but you raise the issue) say "oh, THAT's none of our business". Adultry matters to me in the sense that he can't keep a committment to those who are closest to him, why would he keep any sort of committment while in office? And to those that will use this as a vice against GW, I agree. This is a two way street. Choices of a personal nature like this matter, or at least they should, when you decide that you want to lead the most powerful country in the world. So if GW did crack, committed adultry, etc. I'd say the same thing. But let me make one HUGE distinction here. Whenever something like this comes out from Democratic circles, they spin it like there's no tomorrow by saying just what you say. It's just SEX, it doesn't matter. Well, I guess Republicans do too but not as much as Dems do that I have seen. Our countries moral's have been so degraded and we've all been so desensitized. And it sucks. Our judgement, collectively, will come. I for one hope I'm not around to see it.

I don't mean to get into the "who I know" thing but, in this case, it's somewhat warranted. A certain NHL player I know personally, who is considered a "fighter", does his job in those regards not to be a "goon" - I have never seen him cheapshot anyone in his entire NHL career - but to send messages, be it to his teammates that he has their back in a very physical game, or to send a message to the other team that cheap crap won't be tolerated. But he also knows that he has a responsibility to be a hard hitter, physical, and be "clean" about things. There's 700 players in the NHL. And believe me, what goes around comes around. They don't want to be on the wrong side of the bus of this little fraternity known as the NHLPA. It's a fine line, but if the game is played within the boundaries that each guy understands, it's a part of the game and will continue to be so that the players and teams all balance each other out - yes, this is a "balancing out" in a situation that a team is less talented, it can be an equalizer.

Sure it is. That's part of the problem right now. Look at unions. Why do you think that all these jobs go elsewhere? Because they can get productivity somewhere else for less money. And then all those union people get displaced, and at some point, they go back to work, working their ass off for less money. It's a big ol' cycle. And productivity #'s will continue to rise because there are so many people that are not working that eventually they have to go back and work their ass off for less money. There's always someone willing to step into a job when a person gets sick of it. And 90% of the time, when person A leaves a job, person B is hired for a lot less and still expected to do the same job performace as person A. It's all BS, smoke and mirrors. There will not be a job explosion anytime soon because of some of these reasons.

hey can you merge this with the other thread, sorry I was a slow typist on this one, hehe.

Ahh, internet reports. I should have known Drudge Report written all over it. I hate to say it but usually he gets this sort of stuff right. But having said that, I agree, it's just simply a non issue. And it wouldn't surprise me if all this does is steamroll Kerry right through because now he'll get sympathy, AND more then that, everyone will talk about this and not the issues. This guy's voting record is insane from what I can tell when I went online and did some research on it.
-
According to internet reports (I happened to catch a local talk show guy here that was talking about this), John Kerry has apparantly had an affair with an AP intern that they are trying to cover up. According to what they were saying on the radio, Kerry asked that this girl go away for a while and she did last year. Apparantly, there's pics, letters, and the whole nine yards. Another source said that the Gore campaign was looking at Kerry as a running mate in 2000 and they didn't pick him because of this issue and of course Gore wanted to distance himself from this sort of thing because of the "Clinton" image. Now who the hell knows what will become of this story, but isn't it interesting that all this comes out now that Kerry is so close to wrapping up the nomination? Here come the "right wing conspiratory" accuisations out of no-where!!

Well no sh*t, Greeny. It's because companies that are around are piling on the work with what they have. Every damn place I work for wants to do the job with 5 people instead of the 7 or 8 that it takes to do it right. And there are rises in productivity. Kapkomet's Theory of USA economy: Same work + more layoffs = less people to do the same crap (Greenspeak for higher productivity). This is not rocket science.
