QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) That is a big mental achievement for stocks to come back over 10k. Barring more bad news, they might have put in a bottom. People don't want to lose their gains... it will take more then Greece to shake out the market at this point.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) Well, that's what happens when you yank the floor out from the economy and push unemployment to 10%. GOVERNMENT SAVES! Go live in China. At least you'd get FREE health care.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 25, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Doubt it. Denying equal access, opportunity and rights to people because of their sexual orientation is bigotry. Period. But you know I'm the most bigoted, racist mother f'er ever. I'm conservative after all. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) And because of BP's attitude on this and other enviromental f***-ups being similar to yours, the feds are now considering barring BP from at least all future new contracts for drilling, and possibly a complete barring from all gov't contracts at all, which would be devastating to the company. Ahh, there's the socialism we all know and love. But wait, someone else will drill it. Chinese Oil LTD. We can just buy it from them.

And for once, if I'm China, I tell them to let 'er rip. They can spend our asses into oblivion now, and they are getting more and more trading partners that isn't the US.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
kapkomet replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I gotta tell you - Vancouver was this team's test this year, IMO. And they blazed through that. They matched up really well with SJ, and it showed. I didn't get to watch as much of the WC finals as I would have liked, but I'll definitely be watching the Cup finals this year. It's awesome to see these guys arrive a couple of years faster then expected. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) He could certainly nationalize the U.S. portion of BP and its assets. Happens all the bloody time in fossil fuel industries. Hell, BP probably has a standard procedure reaction to it. They're probably more prepared for that than they are for oil spills. Really? How cool. Why doesn't he or hasn't he? He's just like every broken promise BP has given. He hasn't gotten involved because there's no solution. But watch, as soon as they figure out what works, he'll step in and act like he's saved the world and take all the credit. It's too easy.
-
I can't believe you all aren't all over this... 1) it's BRITISH Petroleum. He can't take it over. If this were Exxon, he would have already nationalized it. 2.) and besides, he's got to keep them campaign contributions coming in. Kind of like your pals GS.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) But he's an evil socialist. That would give him the ability to suspend all those rights and take control of BP like he wants to anyway. So why doesn't he?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Seriously, why has this thing not been declared a national state of emergency yet? You seriously don't know why? Because it would be an admission to the almighty Barackus the Great = Epic Fail.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Mine's $16,000/year, and that's because I'm in a large group plan, not in the individual market. Wow, I thought the government was paying that tab. Who knew?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) I read about this yesterday, and they said that two of the seats on that board will turn over to less conservative people in a period of a few months. So don't be surprised if these things get changed again. I read a long list of some of the changes they put in, and honestly, those people should be embarrased. This is again, what I have said before, there is a certain portion of the right (specifically the religious/social conservatives) who are not just ignorant and hateful... they EMBRACE ignorance and hate, as if they were good things. Its disgusting. Yup! Yup! We are a bunch of ignorant, hate, racist motherf***ers. Way to label 20,000,000 people with one fell swoop.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Your cell phone costs you $25,000 a year? Oh, does the insurance you don't have cost you that much (despite even with pre-existing most GROUP PLAN insurances let you in six months, I know, details, details...)?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 22, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) I gotta say his response is not unlike what we've seen during the Katrina disaster. Heck, I'd say it's worse. One month later and not a sliver of progress. They don't care - you know why? There's no voters in the Gulf of Mexico. Just like Nashville. They didn't care. There's no Obama voters in Nashville. Of course, according to folks in this thread, I'm for just letting oil ooze out for infinity and kill off everything... yup! You must be too, if you're waiting for the government to take over. It's an issue that is pretty weird to see in action. Honestly, the bottom line is they need to get that damn thing shut off.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 22, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) It's been a month now and there has been no improvement in the gulf. Where the f*** is Obama and the government? Putting on his boots to step on the neck of BP. And selling out campaign dinners. He will not rest, though, until this crisis is over.

So is the new OS going to mean new phone? Or will it be upgradeable through a software download on incredibles, etc.? Also, how well does the droid do with company email (using exchange server)?
-
QUOTE (bmags @ May 22, 2010 -> 02:31 AM) You've defended the company every chance you could. Don't walk back now. Yup, that's what I've said the whole time. Uh huh.
-
It's great when our economic future is to ensure that there's a worker program for minumum wage jobs rather then a structure where people are rewarded higher salaries for actually knowing and achieving things at a job.
-
QUOTE (Cknolls @ May 21, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) 956 may occur quicker than thought. And it may be a rest station to the mid 800's. High for the year in???? I hate to say it, but I really hope so.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) Kap, I'm going to make you pay that extra $0.05/gallon in 10 years even if it takes not destroying every ecosystem on the planet. Yup, cause I give a s***. Note: not ONCE have I said that the oil spill is "ok", just to make it clear.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) It isn't about offensive necessarily, but it is about being disruptive. That is a big push, at least in the schools around here. This is coming from a place that saw a real life race riot in the early 90's. We had "race" fights every year. Every single year.

http://www.breitbart.com/print.php?id=D9FQ...;show_article=1 Some more "facts" that were flat out lies on the health care bill. It's simply amazing to hear all this crap now that we're getting free health care.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) BP has officially/unofficially confirmed that the official estimate of 5000 barrels per day gushing out of the well is woefully inaccurate. BP now says it is collecting 5000 barrels per day using the tube they inserted a few days ago...and that is only a small portion of what is gushing out, based on the videos. The press, of course, will continue to report the 5000 barrels per day number. Why? Screw you, they know better, that's why. I'm sure it's 50,000,000 bbl. per day, or the number will be whatever it takes to shut down offshore drilling. Why? Screw you, they know better, that's why.
