  1. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Why can't they get these f***ing positions filled then? Because it's all about health care.
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) Palin - Newt I like it. Besides, who wants moral and ethical leadership? We never really get it anyway. Ewww. They'd have an offspring named Grinch Gingrich.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) So, I may have been under the influence last night, but still. You were under the influence on a short couch. You better have been more then thinking about JFP.
  4. Since those assets were overvalued, I guess so. Just remember, government saves.
  5. It depends on where the money comes from. Trace the dollars on almost everything and it answers a lot of questions.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) If that's the case, then you guys who have been such naysayers for months apparently forgot this. The Dow has been steadily trending up since last March, and is up about 60% during that time period. Us naysayers realize that this is government money going into the Dow.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) You think that Brees is more unstoppable than Manning? The story lines are too good this year for Manning vs. Brees. Or Favre vs. Manning. I can't see Indianapolis losing next week... but anything's possible, I guess.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) He went back to fumbling all over the place too, the second fumble was completely unforced and he was not protecting the ball well. Romo had a bad day regardless of Minnys front 4 Romo's a camera-loving douche.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Would be funny if they stuck it the Colts, who could have knocked them out of the playoffs but decided to get cute. I'll tell you what, if the Jets beat the Colts, that would be some irony just because of that.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) Nationwide Rallies for Conan O'Brien on Monday Seriously? Because there's nothing else going on that matters.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) Anti-slavery, women's suffrage, and not killing indians for fun = marxism. Thank God we have the Republican Party to protect us from those evils. They were evil motherf***ers. You said so. I always like when people talk about the founders, all the want to do is s*** all over them and make them the evil bastards that they were. I guess that's what started the class envy, even back then. That justifies today's takeover of everything - gotta get even. And I never put these people on a pedestal, you all mowed them down. There is a difference.
  12. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) How long until a story comes out about a purple-short roughing someone up or intimidating someone? http://rpc.blogrolling.com/redirect.php?r=...%2Face.mu.nu%2F You know that these 'volunteers' are getting paid. It's abot time that unions be on the same level as businesses as far as thier political activities go. It is (well, SHOULD be) criminal that union dues are allowed to be spent on such partisan activities. Union thugs will make sure the vote gets out on Tuesday up there... you know it... And they'll make sure that the other vote doesn't. And if that doesn't go right, gotta be sure the election doesn't get certified until EmporerCare gets voted in.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) they wanted a place where an individual could choose what it is they wanted, that is, except for woman, non-landowners and black people. And indians. Um hmm. Evil f***ers didn't know that they needed to be marxist, or nothing.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) I don't think anyone would ever accuse you of being biased kap True dat.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) It's a really hard question. Do I think people would sign up for this specifically? Yes. Do I think this would be the first program you cut? yes. Do I think this would be a hard program to fund? Yes. Ideally speaking i think it's a really good idea, but, like balta said, a lot of the reasons the military is most ideal is because of it's resources (AC carriers, logistics), and would you give this group their own? That's a good point, too. But, does it take an aircraft carrier? It is a good point that we "lead" in situations like this, I guess... but then again, it takes away resources from an already thin military.
  16. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) Looks like NBC has agreed to pay Conan 30 million dollars, and also there is a non-compete clause so Conan can do whatever he wants. If there's a non-compete clause in the contract for him to get the money, then he CANNOT do whatever he wants.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) I don't think what you are proposing could ever get funded on its own, kap, i think it would have to be worked within the military or else it would be derided. Funded by US military (defense spending) or UN? I happen to agree with you, but I guess my point is, these disasters happen all the time, and there's no single resource that can handle it the right way. So, our military gets bogged down in what I don't think they belong in - the point being there that they are not as efficient at this as they would otherwise be if there were a specialized group that did this. Like I said, it's just a thought. You're right, on its own, it would never fly, but shouldn't it? Do you think people would "sign up" for this type of branch over the traditional military?
  18. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) So your answer to this is no, you can't point to a single example of a public official or "liberal media conspiracy" has mocked anyone for being concerned about the failures of our security apparatus. Thank you for making my point for me. Pardon me if I consider the voices in this message board to be less influential than those of the broadcast media and elected officials. LMAO. Half of the "liberal media conspiracy" is quoted right here in this thread. Whatever. I'm just being "biased".
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) I think you raise a good point - and the US has their own crews to do just that, domestically. If you want a crew to serve the world, that includes all those things, instead of cobbling it all together when these things happen... the UN is the ideal place to put it. In fact, I think that would be an ideal role for the UN. They have peacekeepers, but maybe they need a disaster response unit too. That's something all countries can agree on, I think, and pay in bits of money to. Yea, that's what I'm getting at... and you are absolutely right, that should be what the UN is for. And I'd be all for the US training them, if they'd allow it.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I think in this case, you need the military, because part of the issue here is security and logistics that the relief agencies can't provide. So I have no issue with it. But really, my reaction to those quotes is... "hey look - assholes being assholes! Shocker!" To you and Balta both - I'm actually raising a question about creating some sort of an organization that offshoots from the military that deals with this stuff. I understand both of your points as to the "heavy lifting" and support that the military provides, but they are not a rescue operation by and large - they are not designed for it. Security - agreed, but they are also not supposed to be police, either. I'm not saying assholes are being assholes, I'm leaving that judgement out of it. I'm just asking a question from the logistics side, which Balta and you both partially addressed. I'm just more or less thinking out loud - the military is supposed to blow stuff up, not be peace keepers and police and aid. So is there an arm that should be created for this? Or is that more bureaucratic crap?
  21. re: the meals on wheels comment: leaving the Democrat part out, our military is not built to provide "relief efforts". That much I agree with, no matter who is in charge. I wonder if there should be a creation of some sort of meals on wheels type of military organization so that they actually could be effective at this sort of thing. Isn't that what americorps is or should be?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) It is good to see so many organizations coming together to help out. Just as Limbaugh said and predicted... Seriously, we are the most generous nation on earth, bar none. Whenever anything like this happens, we always do what we can, despite any other hardships or whatever else is going on here.
  23. This whole thread is full of them, Rex. But, to you all, the response has been "perfect".
  24. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) Benny Hinn was always the best dressed televangelist IMO. Yea.
  25. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Actually, as odd as this my sound, one of my co-workers knows a guy who actually WAS healed. Different thread, different discussion... I'll leave it there for now. Although, I'm curious as to the story.
