QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) For the mortgage, they charge $4 extra to pay online. Seriously? That's ridiculous.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) That's pretty disgusting. All politicians in positions like this try to play the game, but in this case, to outright factually lie, about situations that ended up in people's deaths, to make your party look better... that's pretty low. Not to mention that when these things occur is not really something you fault the President for anyway, whether Bush or Obama. Unfortunately, there is a significant chunk of the population who doesn't understand that, and they'll take statements like this and leap to unfounded conclusions. I agree with you all on this point. It's manipulation at its finest.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) Because I don't want to drive down a snowy, hilly road just yet, I wasted some time trying to check into Kap's assertion that Kennedy teamed tax cuts with simultaneous spending cuts to grow the economy. So far, every index or graph I can find simply fails to show any meaningful decrease in total government spending at the time. In inflation adjusted dollars, total dollars, total dollars spent per person, and total dollars spent per person compared to the year before, the government spent more money during the Kennedy years. I can't find evidence of these supposed spending cuts. Kap? He stongly beleived in them - many speech policies on it - but he never got them through... because he, like, died.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) Keith's second goal? Chara's enormous ass crossed in front of Thomas right as the shot was fired. . . TT had absolutely no chance to make a save on that one. And he does have an enormous ass.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) So wait, both capitalism and imperialism are good? Yea, that's why I put it like that. I figure it's a good indictment of both groups.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) I'd love to see a Republican advocate a 71% top level tax rate. He understood that tax cuts would work WITH THE SIMULTANEOUS SPENDING CUTS to actually stimulate the economy. He understood that a national defense is important, and he understood that America leads, not follows.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) By definition, terrorism is targeting civilians with violence in order to achieve a political aim. While Blackwater has hit Civilians before, it's hard to argue that they're doing so deliberately or to cause political influence. Just remember, you are one of the people who think that America is at fault for everything bad. Capitalism, imperialism, you know, all the stuff that the GOP stands for... (And yes, I'm kidding).

Leno sucks. Oh wait, someone already said that.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Thanks for sharing the cold asshole Seriously, this one could turn deadly for here. Most of our poorer residents do not have any heaters, and not much in the way of winter clothes. Sadly, it is a safe bet that a few trailer homes will catch on fire tonight when people try crazy ways to warm them up. A senior or two will freeze to death. I wish there was a way to find them all first. They are really worried about that here. There's a big difference between lows of 25 and lows of 10 and below zero wind chills in these parts.
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) I would not call them terrorists. Criminals possible, even murderers, but not terrorists. But they are "terrorists" for liberals - it's all the fault of the imperialist United States.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) The inability of the Senate to do virtually anything without a supermajority is a fundamentally new development. As I've said in the past, it didn't matter. JFK would be a Republican today. That's how idiotic the rift has gotten.

We're supposed to have the longest period of below freezing tempratures in 25 years. 72 hours. That's actually crazy for Dallas.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) The prices went up, and the money ultimately, in part, goes to the city. They basically got an advance on future cash flows, that was MORE than the sum of what they would have been. Hard to pass that up. And honestly, I have no issue with the meter rates going up, but in that case I can see arguing otherwise. They used a bidding process to get the most dollars from it. So there was competition. But are you saying that individual meters should be sold seperately? Wouldn't that be a logistical nightmare? This parking meter brought to you by soxtalk.com. Get your sox fix here. Pay up! -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Oh yeah, the Universal Health Care...er, I mean Public Option....er, I mean quasi-co-ops....er, I mean "opt-in" plans is just being rammed through without debate! You call that crap "debate"? You all want to keep saying that, but as I keep saying, the whole damn bill(s) is "government run health care". Just don't call it something that it is, because it might offend the voters, er special interests, er I mean people outside of Washington.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Do you think if they water boarded him they could have discovered the "truth" that he really worked for a terrorist cell? After a couple hours of torture, what would he have said? Close Gitmo, and read me my rights, b****.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Faygo has a good dark cherry soda. Yes, they do. And you can't get it here.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) And cost of inventory is important, but even deducting for that, there is a cost of being in business. Employees have to be paid, computers maintained, new customers gained. What margin do you think they can work on? Thank you for a great example of why TM may not be quite so overpriced. VISA charges interest from the consumers, as high as 20+% *AND* charges the stores a fee. TM gets less than that. No, Visa does not. The issuing bank charges the interest, not visa. They're just a clearinghouse.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Get some Boylan's Red Birch Beer. Good stuff. Interesting - where can I get it? Keep in mind I'm south of the mason-dixon line.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Is Rich Daley dead or in jail? The mobsters are out in force after not getting the Olympics. But hey, if Rahm can hit the country, I'm sure he can take care of little dick Daley.
