QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) "Watch your head." lol. My team arrested this guy once (I forget why, for spying I think, among other things) and blindfolded him to take him off for some quick interrogation before he was shipped off to a detention facility... we tried to warn him that he was about to come to a couple of stairs but I guess he was nervous or whatever and didn't listen, so he tripped and hit his face on the door frame. That was kind of awesome because I was pretty pissed at the time and wanted to punch him in the face, but couldn't, and it was like some neutral force heard my frustration and gave me an out. lol. And if you were a navy seal, you would have been discharged/repremanded for punching him in the face, even if you didn't. You would have no legal recourse, unlike the asshole terrorist.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) Clearly he should have been water-boarded instead. Or he needs to be enrolled in those water color classes.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Welcome to law enforcement. The fact that they got anything from this loser is a gift. I'm glad to know that this is all "law enforcement". The guy needs to have more then his pecker blown up after reading him his rights.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 07:03 AM) The 18th hole was usually the only hole-in-one you could count on. Unless you're Tiger Woods. Then he gets 18 holes in one. (we are up to 18, right?)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) True Conservatism is all about preserving the individual. Taking from people to give what others see fit doesn't seem like a very big tent to me. It seems much against people and their rights. Tex's post is what's wrong with people's views on "conservatism". And it speaks volumes as to the message that the Republican party is spewing out. Republicans and conservatism are not on the same page, which IMO is why they are getting their rear ends handed to them right now in elections. "Conservatism" is not "evangelical" or "the party of morals" or "low taxes, no government" or "make abortion illegal". But that's the message, and they get outright dismissed by people, just like in this very thread.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:22 AM) Interesting - you just made the case for Congress being in it for the voters, not themselves. Which I am surprised to hear from you. The voters didn't/don't want this bill, but they were trying to play the tightrope of how do we get this through with a chance to keep our seats. It's not going to work... and really, I shouldn't have said voters, I should have said special interests.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Every elected Democrat is exactly the same, so much so that they can't... even agree... on their biggest legislative priority in the past 40-something years when they have a supermajority and solid control of the House? Ultimately they did. The whole thing was a game of charades to figure out how to ram it through without pissing off VOTERS, not each other.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) If this was true the Dems would've passed a healthcare bill with a public option back in the summer. BS.
-
The only reason he switched is because he thinks he can get elected in his district easier being a GOP candidate then a Democrat candidate. And the "tea leaves" generally speaking would suggest he's right. But it's purely for selfish reasons (i.e. Specter, who was going to get his ass kicked in a GOP primary).
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Party switching will always be rare, but will always happen. As Rex noted earlier, (not the post you quoted), this has probably not worked out. But your idea that no one will ever do it again, I think is a touch kaperbolic™ He said it, not me. He didn't say "never" but of course, republicans are a disaster and democrats are awesome. (and yes, it's the cheerleader thread, I know).

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) A mass resignation is pretty rare... although you're likely to see some staff turnover (especially on a campaign side of things,) staff members also get attached to the person they work with. A lot of these people would have left, they just would have left more gradually - to go work for another campaign, or the state party, etc. Judging from the article, they basically quit en masse and without other jobs - and that's pretty rare. It was great when Specter did it, now it's "chaos" and no one will ever do it again (turn from Dem to GOP). He lost staff too.

QUOTE (mreye @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Reality Television consisted of two shows - "Real People" and "That's Incredible". OMG, I remember that show... yikes. "THAAAAT'S INCREDIBLE"

Kovalchuk has some incredible speed. Add that to a team that already has good speed... Wth that said, he's a defensive liabilty. He doesn't like to backcheck/forecheck at all. I was just noticing, however, that the Hawks lead the league for both goal differential and total goals allowed. That's a nice stat for a team with "goaltender issues". They're playing really well in front of their goaltenders.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 1, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) reality 1,998,209,657 conservative talking points 0 Read my post further up absolving Obama himself and basically making the same point Balta was in different words. However, all the links, posts, media stories, etc. have to give this guy his golden pile of s*** to hide behind. It's ridiculous.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) No where in this nation is it a new year yet. The catch all 2009 version is getting robbed of it's time to shine. I'm one who really, really wants to get on with the new year.

Woot! A new year! Be funny, sad, silly, pissed off, or whatever the hell else you want to be!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) LOL You're seriously becoming the right wing magic 8 ball with your handful of canned responses. Happy New Year brother. All Kaperbole aside, you too. I hope you have a great year.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Well to close off this years catch all I decided to get in an accident on the Dan Ryan with a Semi truck and totaled my car. Glad to be alive folks. Nothing but bumps and bruises but I thank God it wasnt way worse cause I thought I was a dead man. Seriously? Hope you're ok.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) The amount of money and resources to prevent terrorism seems seems out of whack. Why don't we just completely destroy our economy so that we might save 100 more live in the next decade. If you're not careful, I think you might become a Ron Paulite.
