There's also the one where he was watching his kids play soccer at the park. That was a pretty cool picture as well.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) So, back in July, I interviewed for a job. I interviewed for an hour and a half and thought it went great. They liked what I was saying and everything. The longest interview I had ever been in was probably 30 minutes, so I thought this would be a good sign. The guy gave me his card and said if I didn't hear from him in 3 weeks to call him. I hadn't heard from him so for over a month, I would call and leave him a message three times a week, following up. One day, his secretary calls me and says he is sorry he hasn't returned any of my messages and he would call me in a couple of days. So, I waited. 2 weeks went by and I decided to try and follow up again. I left a couple of messages a week and nothing. So I decided to chill out for awhile. I found out my friends sister was interning for this place and I e-mailed her to see if they had anyone filled the position I interviewed for. She said she would check and a day later she wrote me back saying they did. So after all the effort I put in and interest I had, they didn't even give me a courtesy call or even e-mail to say they hired someone else. This was about a month and a half ago. Fast forward to yesterday. This place calls me, different guy. Says the job I interviewed for opened up because the INTERN they hired took a new job. I'm scheduled to go in for another interview on Friday morning. Is it wrong my ego took a hit and I'm not all that excited because they chose an intern over me? I had 4 years experience for the job I interviewed for. Not too mention I did not appreciate the way they handled the process. We'll see how it goes. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) That isn't an uncommon experience. For all of the things hiring managers want, they don't seem to believe in reciprocity. Ditto what Mike said. And I'll add this: the "courtesy" thing in business, if you're looking for that, leave your ego at the door. Otherwise, you will get b**** slapped the rest of your life. More businesses then not are real assholes (especially right now) about hiring. With that said, the reason they took the intern was money. Period. They could get someone for next to or at nothing - so they did it. Now they have to fill the position for real, or so it sounds. You might get the question of "what have you been doing since we last talked?"... you better have a good answer ready for that besides "looking for a job". You need to say something about improving your skill set toward what it is you will be doing.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) Actually I don't support him at all. Just was a very juvenile, non-value added post that added nothing to the discussion. I'm not Kaperbole for nothing. Besides, I can say that about every post you make.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) Yeah. It's an almost everyday occurrence where I throw a bunch of obscenities at people on this forum. Thanks for keeping track for me. Yea, me too. And sure, I have different rules because I'm an Admin. GMAFB, dude. That arguement is just lame, so please knock it off. Your post about Mitchie Poo is just fine. I'm glad you support Harry "s*** for brains" Reid so much. It isn't like I said it about your boy Obama, but now that you mention it... naaah, Obama's smarter then that, thank God.

OHHHHHHH COMPROMISE! Good grief. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091209/ap_on_...h_care_overhaul Instead of a public option, we will now have an option for the public.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) I probably sound like a complete moron to you guys... lol I just like giving you a hard time. Got to while I can.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) Yeah we did look up the difference and we decided we wanted to be a LLC, it almost seems counterintuitive that it costs less for the extra protections of a corporation though...? *Yawn* PM me, you doofus. I'll explain all the differences to you and the legal and tax ramifications. I did a lot of work in this during the short time I actually worked for a CPA firm. General, boring non committal advice, of course.

Mark Buehrle's Perfect American Chopper

QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) Mark Buehrle to manage the Cardinals. Buehrle won an auction to manage a St. L. Cardinals spring training game. Hilarious. LINK Ok, that's just awesome. KW's quote is great. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) To each other yeah, but I think only divine intervention will keep Kap from making ridiculous statements. It's not ridiculous. Do you want to throw your support behind this asshole?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Is there much more inflammatory rhetoric than slavery comparisons in this debate? Harry Reid is the biggest douchebag asshole ever to be a majority leader. And he has s*** for brains, quite literally.

This is a load of s***. Medicare, by any GOP person with any sense, is a program that has to exist as it is for today's seniors. It cannot be gutted in the next two to four years as the Democrats propose to do. But, there has to be reform here - they need to phase people out of the program and end it. Essentially, the Democrats are shuffling money from one program to another so they can claim "budget nuetral", which is (again) a load of s***. As far as the "death panels" - the point here is that the government, if they are going to control health care, shouldn't control the individual regarding death matters. It's too easy to just "pull the plug" (read NUMEROUS stories in Britian and Canada ... and don't hand me the load of s*** that we're not trying for their system, they are... maybe not specifically right now, but it's the utopia they will get one they put the "option" on the table). All of these decisions should be made by individuals and their lawyers and/or doctors, not some beaurocratic CPT code machine on the end of the government tape.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) lostfan is a brother, Kap can't jump BTW, one of SS best concerns was having a few million new patients jumping into the system. I heard yesterday on NPR that some of these proposals will be phased in over the next three years. Seems like a smart decision. Why? Because Obama needs to get re-elected before GOVERNMENT health care kicks in. This bill doesn't phase in s***. It kicks the taxes up immediately and puts the government "option" in 2013. What an interesting year... "it's just to make sure we get this right"... my ass.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Yet which group is costing companies the most amount of money? And think before you answer this one...

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) The latest from Barack Obama's Facebook news feed (I'm just gonna post these every time they get published) http://www.slate.com/id/2237509/ These are the best. I love them.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) I didn't get a chance to look at the online news this morning yet, other than a couple line items from my blackberry on the train. Thanks for the link. That's weak s*** on Baucus' part, not sure what he was thinking. Where's the Ensign like "RESIGN" comments? Oh wait, it's different. (Yes, it is, slightly, but the poor judgement for power isn't different).

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) I didn't know you and Kap were brothers. Yea, because I have EVER said that.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) The BCS doesn't care about games that decide anything (no TCU/Cincy game), they care about spreading around teams for fan (read: money) interest. They put the two non auto teams against each other because they want to keep the crashers from tainting their party. -

What a bulls*** copout way to keep the "BcS" intact, huh? I'm really pissed off because they set this up to not "tarnish the image". -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) as far as I can see, no one is saying that. Not sure where that came from. The main stream media orgasming over the numbers being "so much better!!!!!!" droolz!

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) You're missing the point. Maybe on purpose. Have another couple of drinks and maybe it will make sense. Ok, I worded that poorly. . Have another. What I was trying to say was that you don't get the multiplier you do with private sector additions to headcount. It doesn't translate the same way because the more government workers you add, the higher taxes have to be to pay for it. That's just one example of why it's not the same and there's many more. So you can't equate the growth of government (people with government experience only - to try to tie it together with what you were trying to ask) with private (industry) experience because the expenses are viewed quite differently.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) (Bangs head against wall). Maybe I ought to go resume moving. Or drinking. Or something. You're missing the point. Maybe on purpose. Have another couple of drinks and maybe it will make sense.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) I'm as pessimistic as anyone about the long-term prospects since the stimulus was too small, but saying "oh it's just a surge in temporary hiring" is moronic. Temporary hiring increases tend to presage long-term hiring at the end of a recession because companies don't want to commit to long-term hiring until they're certain the recession is ending. I understand that. Probably better then you... (no slight intended). But, for the media to be orgasming over these numbers and everyone talking about "how it's all ok now" is bulls***. The pure NUMBERS (not percentages) do not suggest that permanent hiring is taking place, and when that turns around, then I'll agree with the sentiment that things are turning around. I had a pretty long talk with a recruiter who's a good friend of mine - they are starting to see an uptick in positions to be filled as well. They aren't seeing the number of positions actually being filled yet, though - just the feelers. That part is encouraging - but my larger point is it's still a train wreck out there. There's a long way to go before we see real employment turn around and unless some things change drastically, the numbers are not going to improve.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 09:55 PM) Way to avoid the question. *rolls eyes* Jobs saved and created, baby! Where's that correlation? How do you calculate that again, besides a wipe of your ass? There's something to be said for actually running and/or being in a business rather then a career politician. You might learn how to actually think like someone who would hire folks. The correlation is simple, with that said. Democrats = government. They create huge entitlements and push jobs into the public sector and call that job creation. Republicans = government light. They run their mouths like they want small government and do the opposite. But at least they fake it well. (yea, right). You cannot create jobs with a "public" (aka government) mindset. Period. And right now, without mention to political affiliation, that's where our country has been focused.
