8/4 - Rays at White Sox
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) I have a feeling Ozzie Guillen will be the manager of next year's team. I also think it's likely that Buehrle signs a one year deal here, or in St. Louis. That would be a cynical, give the fans the finger move from Reinsdorf. Maybe they can bring Ozzie favs Wise, Cintron, Owens, and Kotsay

worse loss of the year
QUOTE (Knuckles @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:21 PM) Joe McEwing took the blame for that siutation. That's all he can do. Good for him. Ownership- something Ventura/Cooper have yet to do. Good for McEwing

Trayce Thompson on the way
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) Jennings is left handed. That's it. Carroll is the only one of them who can be a true long reliever Sox only use long relievers when the games already over. Jennings can throw multiple innings.

Trayce Thompson on the way
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) I don't understand. He gives them so much more than Albers, Webb or Jennings. No he doesn't

White Sox make no trades at the deadline.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Except those are the people they are trying to keep engaged. A plan does them no good if their fans think they quit. it does a lot of good if it works. And you aren't going to win without a plan, except with an occasional fluke. And if you don't win you lose your fans anyway.

The Disappointment Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) Why would a non playoff team block him? And a team in contention might be willing to trade something for him. They wouldn't. But a playoff contender would. I have to bone up on exactly how the waiver deals work, but I think the Sox would need the contender with the worst record to actually want him. Otherwise, that team would just claim to block, knowing we wouldn't just let him go.

White Sox make no trades at the deadline.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) 100% wrong. The fact that you referenced the White Flag trade is exactly why they didn't trade Jeff Samardjiza. Sox fans are STILL bringing that up after almost 20 years. yea, but the front office isn't fans. They are professionals. They shouldn't be bothered with that if they have a plan. You know how they could have overcome white flag with the fans? Show that deadline selling works. Such as trading for Varitek and Derrick Lowe instead of Foulke, Howry and a bunch of duds. Or show a history of deadline selling to build a winner.

White Sox make no trades at the deadline.
probably the correct decision. Buying would have been flailing at the wind. Didn't have much to sell except for Samardzija and perhaps some bullpen pitchers.

Wild Card Watch 2015
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Their starting pitching is still meh It's a lot better than it was. And they had a lead on us even with that meh pitching. And they added Tulo.

7/30 White Sox @ Red Sox 6:10 CT
The overreaction would be to buy with this team, ignoring 3.5 months for the sake of a week. Does Sale have to be left out there to get completely bombed? The bullpen isn't exactly overworked (to say the least).

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 06:04 PM) I would offer Beck to the Padres and Tigers. First to say yes has a deal. Yep Pirates gave their #13 prospect for Soria. There's your market.

Should Sox Go After Longoria?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) Can Fulmer be traded? If we're trying to avoid things from the big league squad, Micah + Fulmer + Anderson + Montas could be close. If not then it's a price the Sox wouldn't do (Rodon/Quintana). 2014 OPS: .724 2015 OPS: .752 Adam eaton OPS 2015: .751 Tyler saladino OPS 2015: .746 Longoria is 30. He's not the same player. H How is this anything but hero-worship.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:33 PM) That package would be for both Ross and Upton. Could still be too much but I'm just a fan with an opinion. Reddick is my #1 target for a hitter but I like the idea of getting Tyson Ross as well. Problem ks, getting those two would clean the farm pretty good. Reddick is purely a platoon hitter. Hits lefties worse than Laroche. For the price of a platoon, fine. Tyson Ross would be a good pitcher here.....but that seems more of a December trade, unless you are going to move Shark as part of the deal.

Sox Looking at Upton
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:26 PM) I'm curious about what a package would look like. Avi, Erik Johnson, Micah Johnson + ? For 2 months of a .763 OPS that's a fair exchange? He's not a superstar....not even close. He's a good hitter...that's all. Maybe 1 of those guys, if that. Adam Eaton has a .751 OPS....he's under control until 2021. What could we get for him? 10 x that price?

Cespedes to the Mets according to Levine
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) Put this in the Soria thread, but I have a feeling that we are in a 3-team trade with the Pirates and Tigers involving Soria, Sellers, and Cespedes. So who would come from the Pirates to the Sox or vice-versa to warrant 3 teams?

Cespedes to the Mets according to Levine
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Just got an ESPN alert on my phone: "White Sox confused about whether to be buyer or seller at trade deadline - league source" That must be a really s***ty league source. I can understand that - it's not an easy call. Or it could be Hahn = Sell; Williams = Buy. Solution = stand pat.

Cespedes to the Mets according to Levine
No one's going to have to empty the farm, or trade a top 100, for 2 months of these hitters. I hope we get neither - don't give up young players for a slim chance at a wild card. I'd rather trade Shark and roll with Johnson and we'd probably not take much of a step back. But of the 2, would far prefer Upton. Don't need any of these "I won't play RF" guys on team. Cespedes has a career OBP of .316. And don't want to send a player to Tigers.

Charlotte is short of infielders. Maybe Micah's injury will keep him out a while.

Official Buyers Thread
Josh Reddick is another guy who is absolutely atrocious against lefty pitching. He is a platoon hitter . He's also having a career year. Whether he can repeat it is far from a sure thing. Lawrie - well he would add to the team's tat collection. Revere is Shuck Pitch framing is absolutely a legitimate skill.
