Latin America and Sox pitching drafting is wanting. Again this year, it's mostly low-slot, funny-delivery guys. I get blasted for questioning the White Sox drafting guru, but Sox drafts are heavily dependent on Shirley's talent evaluation, which often differs significantly from consensus.

Holmes for Carlson- Yikes! I heard an interview with Guardians blogger that they didn't touch the top 20, or arguably their top 30, prospects in their trades. They have depth (and we don't).

Or Bonemer can play LF. I'd take 34 homers from LF. Or RF. Peters will end up with a WAR in excess of 4. Could always sell high and try to nab 3 young pitchers a la Eaton (Peters' WAR would probably be similarly inflated if he played RF). I also mention selling because the Sox did try to trade over him in July (despite Acuna's presence); and they are auditioning Bonemer specifically in CF. There's a risk of ending up like we did in 2006-2009 ERA when we had a very good vet CF and 2 touted prospects: we ended up keeping the bust. But right now, it's pretty cool being in first place with the all-star CF batting 7th.

Looks like everyone is getting tired. It's been a long stretch with no days off. Send down Richards. Is there any more to be had from his 91 MPH 4-seamer. Schweizter too - this guy's one of our better pitching prospects and his 4-seamer sits at 92? Come on. Bring up Sandlin.

I hope they bring up arms in September to give these guys some rest. Sox have a lot of workhorses. If they bring up Thorpe and/or Sandlin, yes to starting; Thorpe is a big no in the pen to me. Sandlin should be good in the pen. Leave Urquidy where he is; he really doesn't seem like a reliever anyway, Fedde was pitching well as a starter (with or without opener); they yank him to the pen and he's terrible. Back starting and he was good again. Leave him in the rotation.

Sounds good. I will point out that CF Peters is #3 on the team in WAR and is double that of LF Antonacci.

Dominguez for Castillo was the trade. Seattle had been trying to dump Castillo for months. What is Getz trading for pitchers with 5+ERAs and sub .600 OPS for anyway? Getz really needs an experienced assistant to deal with these GMs; he's consistently overpaying for these waiver-wire talents that the other GMs are overtly trying to dump

Or Castillo. The problem really is that Getz traded for waiver wire talents. Grab it (which he has); don't make serious trades for it. Sox need to get something out of Thorpe and Sandlin.

Yea, that's Grichuk at 1.1 f WAR; Mr Clutch is 0.1 FWar (updated with Sunday's action). And this WAR business for DH is a little confusing as it also includes their defensive prowess (negative for both, although I don't remember Beni playing the field at all this season) which isn't relevant to DH analysis. Still, there is room for improvement at least on the left side and there is more room at the inn for young hitters.

We don't have to trade any of these guys. Mune may not be here in 2027; if we don't/can't resign Vargas, we'll have an opening. Sam's a gamer, but that position could be upgraded. And yes, putting an IF out there my not be ideal. But IFs are drafted with the idea that they are athletic and can move positions; and frankly, our farm is about as weak in the OF (understandable, given priority on MI) as it is in pitching (not so understandable). And with all due respect to "Clutch" it's still a 0,00 FWAR at DH. That's a Zero WAR. That's another opening. Fangraphs loves our up the middle defense (some of that may be WAR factory stuff; I don't know). Colson is struggling with the bat; can't have him at that low OBP, but I suspect he'll figure things out. And if we do trade one of the young studs, it must be for multiple young pitchers. Multiple and young. None of this 2 years of pitcher X stuff. We just don't churn out enough young talent to make trades like that. After all of this,the farm is ranked, what #15?

Here's to the waiver wire (or purchase wire). Getz has worked that hard and it's paid off.

As I said several times, 'buying" at the deadline is for suckers. And Getz is the mark. These GMs are not his friend, and correctly see him as easy pickings. We really need an offseason upgrade. Whether Getz hires a more skilled advisor or whatever.

His stuff isn't bad; his command on the other hand.,,, But I agree with comment above - the other orgs turn the Cannons into relievers. The Sox spend their scarce personnel budget on relievers.

To me, his broadcasting is fine. It’s when he tries to be Mr. Homer and go over the top with things that he’s just awful. So just stop doing that. I say “fine,” meaning he is okay. He could learn a little more about the game and about the other teams and players; or at least share more during the broadcast.

Cannon's pretty consistent: a lot of walks, a lot of homers, a lot of strikeouts. He can throw hard; I wonder if he couldn't become a short reliever.

If he can place it, it can work, as per Urquidy, Jose I see that reliever Altermatt is rising. Please tell me that he throws upper 90s. I would think that Cannon could at least convert to a middle reliever. Maybe not, though.

That he acts like he's a school-kid is why I don't like his announcing. It's not nitpicking: "Yea Buddy" is the essence of the issue.

Urquidy is a master of command. Terrific today...and for several years with Astros. Hopefully he keeps it up and can stay on the field. And I won't complain if Schriffen knocks off that "yea buddy" stuff. What is he, 12?

Most of the time, bunting is playing not to lose. Playing scared. I remember Ventura doing that in 2012...he really spit the bit down the stretch . Don't need that happening.
