  1. The only time that I remember the Sox doing an underslot in the first round was Burger; and then they used the savings on Sheets who didn't need to be paid overslot. I've seen the Sox overslot various rounds and then pay for it by punting several other rounds; the extent to which that approach has netted positive results remains to be seen.
  2. He's still my choice, although I get the misgivings. He's got a smooth swing; a lot of these guys have noisy swings. I don't like any of these college pitchers early. Maybe there's a pre guy out there that it makes sense. Maybe a reach/underslot, although I'm not sure the Sox are sharp enough can pull that entire sequence off.

Yeah, my understanding is that the Guards take command over velocity, and try to build up the velocity (given one or the other).
  4. Then hold him. There’s really no urgent reason to move him.
  5. I think Pedro should triple down on his comments from the other day. That might motivate them.
  6. Relief pitching would provide scant leverage for s top five pick. this organization has clowned around with relief pitching far too many times in the first round. Plus how many 2-way players have we seen a major league baseball? One effective one. Pass.
  7. If he’s a reliever, don’t let him pitch. Unless they think he can’t miss as a hitter, draft someone else.
  8. The priority, I would think, is maximizing trade value (if they have no intention of extending him). 100 innings at or near his current performance probably does that for the winter. If they pitch him into next season and he hits the wall, as you suggest, they they are left holding the bag.
  9. Crochet is young and healthy. Reynaldo hasn't had a starter's load since 2019; the Giants sent career reliever Hicks to a full go as starter. A lot of people didn't think Crochet could make it at all as a starter. I'm willing to see how it goes. That said, don't trade Crochet until the winter. Trade him now and teams will have the exact questions that people are raising here about his endurance. If he gets a season under his belt, the questions are quelled. That will put him in the exact same contract/control position that Cease was last winter; but hopefully coming off a dominant year.
  10. Smith also doesn't have the smoothest delivery in the world.
  11. Don't see a need to trade either one of those guys for scraps.
  12. He was complaining about the players and the clubhouse last year as well. Meanwhile, his job is to fix those things.
  13. And he's been bitching about the clubhouse since the day he took over. Just wonderful.
  14. Yea, Pedro can yell at the players and they probably deserve it. But they could also rightfully tell him to GFY.
  15. Beyond that. The worst MLB team this Century (one of those Tiger teams I suppose was really awful). Perhaps the worst Sox team in history.
  16. Teams don’t want to trade away elite prospects. So they can wait two years and probably get about the same return.
  17. Last inning. Time to put on those Rally Caps!
  18. They have to trade crochet at some point I guess. But they absolutely should not trade Robert.
  19. Maybe this time, next season.
  20. How in the world could Pedro have impressed anyone in an interview? Did he have a ventriloquist behind a curtain or something?
  21. the same time they fire Pedro.....i.e. perhaps next season.
  22. What's their objection?
  23. Another productive game from Julks, the team's best hitter since he's been here. We'll see if Pedro benches him again.
  24. Okay, but where does Lee rank in clubhouse leadership, grinding and pillaring?
  25. Of course, none of this would’ve happened had The Pillar not popped the ball up in the clutch…
